Bad Romeo

Bad Romeo by Leisa Rayven is $2.99! I remember seeing this book everywhere, mainly because it has a pretty gorgeous cover. This is a New Adult romance where a hero and heroine have a bit of bad blood meet again during Broadway rehearsals. There is definitely a cliffhanger and some readers didn’t like the heroine’s lack of backbone. However, many loved the Broadway play setting and it has a 4.1-star rating on Goodreads.
When Cassie Taylor met Ethan Holt at acting school, sparks flew. She was the good girl actress. He was the bad boy about campus. But one fated casting choice for Romeo and Juliet changed it all. Like the characters they were playing, Cassie and Ethan’s romance seemed destined. Until he broke her heart and betrayed her trust. Now the A-list heartthrob is back in her life and turning her world around. One touch at a time.
Cast as romantic leads once again, they’re forced to confront raw memories of the heartbreaking lows and pulse-pounding highs of their secret college affair. But they’ll also discover that people who rub each other the wrong way often make the best sparks.

Wildest Dreams by Kristen Ashley is $1.99! This is a paranormal romance with mistaken identities and dragons. Many readers loved the setting and the parallel universe concept. On the other hand, some readers felt the book was a little long and had way too much detail, which slowed down the action. The rest of the series is also $1.99!
Seoafin “Finnie” Wilde was taught by her parents that every breath was a treasure and to seek every adventure she could find. And she learns this lesson the hard way when they perish in a plane crash. But she never forgets and when she discovers there is a parallel universe where every person has a twin, she finds a witch who can send her there so she can have the adventure of a lifetime.
But upon arrival in the Winter Wonderland of Lunwyn, she realizes she’s been played by her twin and finds herself walking down the aisle to be wed to The Drakkar.
Thrown into inauspicious circumstances, with years of practice, Finnie bests the challenges and digs into her adventure. But as Frey Drakkar discovers the woman who is his new wife is not Princess Sjofn, a woman he dislikes but instead, his Finnie, a free-spirit with a thirst for venture just like him, without her knowledge he orders his new bride bound to his frozen world, everlasting.
But at the same time Frey plunges Finnie into a web of political intrigue that includes assassination plots, poison, magic, mystery and… dragons.

Honor Reclaimed by Tonya Burrows is 99c! This is the second book in her HORNET romantic suspense series. It was also nominated for a RITA® last year in the Romantic Suspense category and earned an A- in our RITA® Reader Challenge.
This was one of the best modern military romantic suspense novels I’ve read. I would recommend it to fans of gritty, character-driven romantic suspense, and I’ll probably read the other books in the series too.
Reader Qualisign gave it a B-:
Yes, Honor Reclaimed was worth reading, but I couldn’t get through it a second time, something I usually do when reviewing a book. I got all twitchy with the hordes of characters and just couldn’t go through it twice. For someone else, Honor Reclaimed would have been a great read. For me, it was okay.
Former Marine sniper Seth Harlan is determined to prove that he can still do his job despite his ongoing battle with PTSD. When an old friend contacts HORNET to rescue a black ops soldier, Seth’s stability is strained. He knows all too well what it’s like to rot inside an enemy camp, praying for rescue and waiting for death. And he’s not about to leave a man behind.
Photojournalist Phoebe Leighton just stumbled into the middle of an arms deal. Teaming up with a ragtag team of mercenaries is the last thing she wants to do–especially when she realizes Seth Harlan is assigned to the mission. He may ignite a passion in her she thought long dead, but Phoebe’s hiding a secret that could destroy him.
With a bomb in the mix, HORNET’s mission is suddenly about a lot more than an abandoned soldier. Racing against the clock, Seth, Phoebe, and the rest of the team struggle to stop a ruthless warlord bent on power, revenge…and death.

I absolutely love this Kristen Ashley series. It is really, really wonderful, but if she is not your cup of tea, this book is not going to change your mind. I think all of the books in this series are on sale now, so it is a good deal.
I confess, I grabbed the Kristen Ashleys for a rainy day because they seem like just the sort of epic WTFery that will salve a case of tired brain. Also, my tweeps (and everyone else) tell me she writes crack and you can’t read just one…
I loved Renegade! It’s a fun read, with exciting action scenes in a complex, but well-established world. I think Griff and Val are a great couple with an interesting conflict, and I also loved the other books in the series. FYI, after the first three books, the series continues under the series title The Light Mage Wars, with the novella Sentinel and a new novel, Warrior. Northcott does a great job of developing the secondary characters in preparation for their own stories, and I can’t wait for the next one.
OMG. I have been waiting for The Golden Dynasty to go on sale since I heard SB Sarah and DA Jane talk about it on a podcast. The heroine’s super power: pooping flowers. Yes Please!
The Kristen Ashley series is ok, if you don’t mind biker accent slowly breaking out over the course of the book.
