  • Unnatural Creatures

    Unnatural Creatures by Neil Gaiman

Unnatural Creatures by Neil Gaiman is $1.99! This is a collection of short stories curated by Gaiman, and it has some really great authors (shout out to Diana Wynne Jones). Also according to the description, some of the proceeds go to a nonprofit. Because it’s an anthology, readers mentioned there are some hits, but also some misses. It has a 3.8-star rating on Goodreads.

Unnatural Creatures is a collection of short stories about the fantastical things that exist only in our minds—collected and introduced by beloved New York Times bestselling author Neil Gaiman.

The sixteen stories gathered by Gaiman, winner of the Hugo and Nebula Awards, range from the whimsical to the terrifying. The magical creatures range from werewolves to sunbirds to beings never before classified. E. Nesbit, Diana Wynne Jones, Gahan Wilson, and other literary luminaries contribute to the anthology.

Sales of Unnatural Creatures benefit 826DC, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting students in their creative and expository writing, and to helping teachers inspire their students to write.

  • The Cinderella Deal

The Cinderella Deal by Jennifer Crusie

The Cinderella Deal by Jennifer Crusie is $1.99! Crusie is an auto-buy author for a lot of people, and she writes some great contemporary romances that are sweet and funny. Readers loved the opposites attract/fake relationship plot, though many readers feel like it’s a little dated since it was originally published in the mid-nineties. Have you read this one?

New York Times bestselling author Jennifer Crusie brings humor and storytelling magic to this modern-day romance of a match made anywhere but in heaven–but destined for a fairy-tale ending.

Daisy Flattery is a free spirit with a soft spot for strays and a weakness for a good story. Why else would she agree to the outrageous charade offered by her buttoned-down workaholic neighbor, Linc Blaise? The history professor needs to have a fiancée in order to capture his dream job, and Daisy is game to play the role. But something funny happens on their way to the altar that changes everything. Now, with the midnight hour approaching, will Daisy lose her prince, or will opposites not only attract but live happily ever after?

  • Just Business

    Just Business by Anna Zabo

Just Business by Anna Zabo is 99c! This is a M/M erotic romance and the second in a series, though readers say it can be read as a standalone. There are heavy BDSM elements, so be ye warned. I’d also like to mention that one of the heroes is Jewish and some readers are always in search of more Jewish heroes/heroines. However, there were some readers that mentioned that the amount of sex in the book made it a little boring. It has a 4.1-star rating on Goodreads.

From the thrilling new author of Takeover, a steamy new novel about having all the control—and losing it…

Justin White may not look like an up and coming corporate superstar, but his new boss knows he has the smarts, grit, and determination to succeed. Now he just has to convince his company’s CFO, Eli Ovadia. Unfortunately, Justin can’t seem to keep his cool around the domineering Eli—and soon he finds himself taking their heat from the boardroom into the bedroom….

Still haunted by a tragic accident that left him with a wounded leg and broken heart, Eli has a need to be in control. But his desire for Justin makes him want to lose that control—and push them both far beyond their limits. But will his need to dominate Justin drive him away—or will Eli find a way to be the man he needs for both of them?

  • Keeper of the Dream

Keeper of the Dream by Penelope Williamson

Keeper of the Dream by Penelope Williamson is 99c at some vendors! This is a medieval historical romance that was originally released in the early nineties. Readers really seemed to enjoy the setting, though a few said the romance felt forced. Any members of the Bitchery remember reading this one?

Blessed with the Welsh gift of “sight,” Lady Arianna saw the vision in a golden bowl. A knight with eyes gray as the English sea that had captured her, his sword about to pierce her heart. And she trembled, not with fear, but with a desire that engulfed her very soul.

On the treacherous border of Wales, Raine, the Black Dragon, rides his charger toward Castle Rhuddlan and the lady within. Illegitimate son of a Norman nobleman, his past was scarred by denial and mistrust, and now his future lies in the conquest of a kingdom–and a woman’s love.

As the battle trumpet sounded, Arianna, her Celtic pride unyielding, saw her dream take flesh: Raine, the enemy who inflamed her blood with desire; Raine, teh lover she must gentle and tame, and then, as ancient hatreds threatened their lives, either cherish…or betray.

What ever happened the JC? No books in years!

  2. Cait says:

ps. I have everything she’s ever written including in audfio if available. Her special style was so much fun. She’s never written a sequel to WILD RIDE. My drop dead fav is still WTT. I was my first.

  3. Theresa says:

Is Cinderella Deal dated? Yes. Do I give a crap? No. Because it’s great nevertheless. I think I own all of her books as well.
@Cait: I read her (active) blog one in a while, and it seems like she has some things planned for the medium / far future. She is posting some scenes and critiquing her stuff, so I’m looking forward to whatever she may be writing.

  4. Heather S says:

That comes out to $1.62 per book!

  5. Kelly S. says:

@Cait check out arghink.com which is Crusie’s blog. It is in the process of recovering from being hacked, but you can get a feel for what she’s working on which include a book on writing, a sequel of sorts to Maybe This Time and Faking It – the book stars the kids from those, a 4 book mystery series, a fairytale collection, and another collaborative effort which I’m very interested in seeing finished. There’s likely more. She also taught a course for 2 years at McDaniel (?) college. Argh is where you’ll learn of all the things going on in her life.

I’ve also got all she’s published. Love her writing which is a big part of why I read her blog(s).

  6. Bea says:

Penelope Williamson wrote some of my favourite romances! Her prose is beautiful and pognant. I loved Keener of the Dream. Marriage of convenience interwoven with the legend of Merlin Taliesin.

  7. Bea says:

Apologies for the typos! ,poignant, keeper

  8. cleo says:

I also have and love Cinderella Deal – I think it holds up better than some of her other early books. It’s a marriage of convenience plot, which requires a huge suspension of disbelief in a contemporary, but if you can swallow it, it’s a lot of fun and I found it incredibly moving.
