Kindle Daily Deal: Grey, The Rose Garden, Plus Lynda Aicher

  • Grey

    Grey by E.L. James

Grey by E.L. James is currently 99c at Amazon! Yep. So if you wanted to sip that crazysauce for yourself, $1 is very low risk and possibly very high reward (if you’re playing a drinking game). This book contains peeled ginger root fantasies, conversations with Christian’s cock, and basically to quote Lori, the hot guy opened his mouth and spoke, and ruined everything. Sarah recapped some of the worst lines from the beginning chapters. And we had not one, but two reviews! One from Redheadedgirl and a guest review from reader Gloriamarie.

See the world of Fifty Shades of Grey anew through the eyes of Christian Grey.

In Christian’s own words, and through his thoughts, reflections, and dreams, E L James offers a fresh perspective on the love story that has enthralled millions of readers around the world.

Christian Grey exercises control in all things; his world is neat, disciplined, and utterly empty—until the day that Anastasia Steele falls into his office, in a tangle of shapely limbs and tumbling brown hair. He tries to forget her, but instead is swept up in a storm of emotion he cannot comprehend and cannot resist. Unlike any woman he has known before, shy, unworldly Ana seems to see right through him—past the business prodigy and the penthouse lifestyle to Christian’s cold, wounded heart.

Will being with Ana dispel the horrors of his childhood that haunt Christian every night? Or will his dark sexual desires, his compulsion to control, and the self-loathing that fills his soul drive this girl away and destroy the fragile hope she offers him?

  • The Rose Garden

The Rose Garden by Susanna Kearsley

The Rose Garden by Susanna Kearsley is $1.99 today at Amazon as a Kindle Daily Deal! Let’s hope for some price-matching. This book was published in 2011, and has a 4-star average on GoodReads.

The heroine returns to her childhood summer home in Cornwall to scatter her sister’s ashes and finds a portal to the 18th century in the rose garden, and there’s a pretty hot dude back there, too. In time, I mean, and also in the rose garden.

“Whatever time we have,” he said, “it will be time enough.”

Eva Ward returns to the only place she truly belongs, the old house on the Cornish coast, seeking happiness in memories of childhood summers. There she finds mysterious voices and hidden pathways that sweep her not only into the past, but also into the arms of a man who is not of her time.

But Eva must confront her own ghosts, as well as those of long ago. As she begins to question her place in the present, she comes to realize that she too must decide where she really belongs.

From Susanna Kearsley, author of the New York Times bestseller The Winter Sea and a voice acclaimed by fans of Gabaldon, du Maurier, and Niffenegger alike, The Rose Garden is a haunting exploration of love, family, the true meaning of home, and the ties that bind us together.

  • Game Play

    Game Play by Lynda Aicher

Game Play by Lynda Aicher is .99 today only! This is book 1 in the Power Play series, which has hockey player heroes – and in this book, a heroine, too. Amanda reviewed this one and gave it a C, saying that the heroine was terrific, but that she found the repeated arguments between the couple redundant. That said, this book “has one of the cutest endings I’ve read in a while.” This book has a 3.8-star average.

One night, one time, nothing more. That’s all it was supposed to be. They’d agreed their first night together would be their only night together—and Minnesota Glaciers defenseman Dylan Rylie was fine with that. Giant hickeys and claw marks on his ass had never been his style, even if the very memory of Samantha Yates’s merciless sexual energy gets him hard within seconds. He needs to focus on getting a better contract, not mind-blowing orgasms.

One night, one time, nothing more. Fresh off representing the US at the Games and with nowhere else to play, Samantha gave in to one night of frantic passion with the Glaciers’ brawny hotshot. She couldn’t get hurt—not if she controlled the outcome. And she planned to leave Minnesota soon, anyway. She didn’t expect to be recruited to coach Dylan after they’d gotten down and dirty.

When brutal on-ice workouts lead to kinky locker room sessions and “one night” falls by the wayside, Samantha insists on keeping things casual, despite Dylan’s quiet hope for more. But when Dylan goes down—hard—and his career is in jeopardy, Samantha is the first one by his side. What will it take to keep her there after he’s healed?

  • Back in Play

Back in Play by Lynda Aicher

Back in Play by Lynda Aicher is .99 today only! This is book 2 in the Power Play series, and this one is replete with angst: the hero has an addiction to painkillers. This book has a 4-star average on GoodReads.

For Minnesota Glaciers captain Scott Walters, skating on a bum knee—and self-medicating to keep skating on it—is all part of the game. That the painkillers he’s eating prevent him from having meaningful relationships is just one more sacrifice in a lifetime of them. He’s worked too hard to let his image be ruined by injury or dependency, so he hides the pain and fakes the rest—a girlfriend would only complicate matters.

High school teacher Rachel Fielding never needed a man in her life, but she also never intended to grow old alone. When she meets Scott while visiting her brother, she’s intrigued to find herself wanting him in her bed. For hours at a time, as often as possible. Scott is a giver, and just the memory of his attentions is enough to drive her crazy. Anything long-term is out of the question, though—the pills she finds in Scott’s house indicate he’s struggling with a lot more than growing older in a young man’s game.

When what starts out as a what-the-hell weeklong fling turns into Scott and Rachel exploring each other outside the bedroom, Rachel hesitates. But Scott asks for her support to break his addiction, and hearing him admit his secrets has her ignoring her own rules—until he breaks her heart. With the Glaciers refusing to renew his contract and his future with Rachel uncertain, Scott has some big decisions to make and a lot to prove—especially to himself.

  1. Michelle says:

I am always tempted by the ebook version even if I have the paperback. Did you see Rescued The stories of 12 cats through their eyes is 1.99. It has good reviews and I think portions of the money go to animal charity.

  2. Sandra says:

So, does this mean that “Grey’s” sales were so bad, that it’s hitting the remainder bins already?

  3. Des Livres says:

On Amazon Grey is number one in kindle book sales and number 13 in book sales. Sigh.

  4. Susie says:

Amazon shows $7.99 for Kindle edition. Don’t see anything for $.99.

  5. Amanda says:

@Susie: Unfortunately, since it was a Kindle Daily Deal, the prices typically last only a day.
