  • Sabriel

    Sabriel by Garth Nix

RECOMMENDED: Sabriel by Garth Nix is $1.99! Many of you were talking about the continuation of this series in a previous Hide Your Wallet post. For those who want to jump on the awesome train or want to convince a friend/family to jump on with you, the first book in the Abhorsen series can be snagged for less than $2! This young adult fantasy novel involves a girl, magic, a boarding school, and a quest to find her missing father. Some recent readers of the series found the material a little dated, but they seem to be in the minority as the book is closing in on 100,000 ratings on GR with a 4.1-star rating overall.

Since childhood, Sabriel has lived outside the walls of the Old Kingdom, away from the power of Free Magic, and away from the Dead who refuse to stay dead. But now her father, the Abhorson, is missing, and Sabriel must cross into that world to find him. With Mogget, whose feline form hides a powerful, perhaps malevolent spirit, and Touchstone, a young Charter Mage, Sabriel travels deep into the Old Kingdom. There she confronts an evil that threatens much more than her life and comes face-to-face with her own hidden destiny…

  • Undercover

    Undercover by Lauren Dane

Undercover by Lauren Dane is $3.79 or $3.99 depending on the vendor! This is book one in the Federation Chronicles series and I’d describe it as scifi BDSM. There is also a menage plot in true Dane fashion. I loved that this book had a scifi setting (I want more scifi/fantasy erotica but without tentacles please!). However, I will admit to getting lost in the political aspects of the plot at times.

On the battleground or in the bedroom, one woman and two men fight for dominance in a bold, new, and excitingly different direction in eroticaÂ…

As a lieutenant of the Federation military, Sera Ayers is accustomed to giving orders, not taking them. Now she must obey the one man she can’t stand-and can’t stop thinking about.

With the enemy Imperialists gaining ground, a covert team is assembled by Ash Walker. Ten years before, Sera had lovingly submitted to Ash’s dominance in the bedroom. But when he was forced into a political marriage, she refused to play mistress. His marriage now over, Ash wants Sera on his team-and back in his bed.

The third team member, Brandt Pela, has an elegance to match Ash’s savage sexuality. And when their undercover plan requires Sera to pose as Brandt’s lover, it ignites a passion among the three of them more dangerous than their mission.

  • Say My Name

Say My Name by J. Kenner

Say My Name by J. Kenner is $1.99! This is the first book in the erotic romance Stark International Trilogy. I’d also like to mention that the book is written in first-person POV, which may be a dealbreaker for some readers. Some of the Goodreads comments say that this is very similar to Kenner’s earlier series, though many loved the architect hero. Any members in the Bitchery who have read Kenner?

New York Times bestselling author J. Kenner kicks off a smoking hot, emotionally compelling new erotic trilogy that returns to the world of her beloved Stark novels: Release Me, Claim Me, and Complete Me. Say My Name features Jackson Steele, a strong-willed man who goes after what he wants, and Sylvia Brooks, a disciplined woman who’s hard to get—and exactly who Jackson needs.

I never let anyone get too close—but he’s the only man who’s ever made me feel alive.

Meeting Jackson Steele was a shock to my senses. Confident and commanding, he could take charge of any room . . . or any woman. And Jackson wanted me. The mere sight of him took my breath away, and his touch made me break all my rules.

Our bond was immediate, our passion untamed. I wanted to surrender completely to his kiss, but I couldn’t risk his knowing the truth about my past. Yet Jackson carried secrets too, and in our desire we found our escape, pushing our boundaries as far as they could go.

Learning to trust is never easy. In my mind, I knew I should run. But in my heart, I never felt a fire this strong—and it could either save me or scorch me forever.

  • Unforgettable

    Unforgettable by Alison Kent

Unforgettable by Alison Kent is $3.79 or $3.99 at most vendors! This is a contemporary romance and the third book in the Dalton Gang series. The heroine in this installment is tasked with interviewing the hero. Readers mentioned that the romance builds slowly and that it’s not really necessarily to read the previous books. It has a 4.1-star rating on Goodreads.

The infamous Dalton Gang was once known for riding—and playing—hard. Now, as owners of the Dalton Ranch in Crow Hill, Texas, they’re working from sunup to sundown. But one look from the right woman can tempt them back into the saddle…

When a walk on the wild side turned into a nightmare for Everly Grant, she escaped her abusive ex by taking a job with Crow Hill’s small newspaper. Now she’s assigned to write a human interest story on the return of the Dalton Gang, and she soon discovers that Boone Mitchell could give her plenty more than a good interview. As much as she craves safety, she finds herself irresistibly drawn to Boone’s dangerous streak. Before she takes the cowboy to bed, she lays down the law: There are no strings attached, and she’s the one in charge.

That’s fine for Boone. In fact, Everly teaches him things no other woman ever dared. Soon they find themselves wanting more than their simple arrangement will allow. But to get there, Everly will have to open up in ways she thought she never could…

  1. Joanna says:

My daughter loved the Abhorsen series when she was younger. She recently went looking for her books to do a re-read (she had them all) when she heard there was finally a new one coming out, but we had given them away. (Just FYI after some of the discussions here I would never give away one of my kids books without their agreement first! She had helped with the clear out, since she thought their would be no more books in the series, then forgotten them.) There was a really long gap between the earlier books in the series and the new one – like at least 10 years!

So thanks for the heads up on this deal!

  2. Elaine says:

I loved “Unforgettable” by Alison Kent. The other 2 books in the series (which you don’t have to read to follow along) are good, but I thought this one was great. The tone of the book was this kind of repressed, sorrowful feeling, offset by the pragmatic hopefulness of the romance. The hero wants someone to settle down with but worries he’ll never have enough to offer, and the more consistently sincere he is (which is not to say beta) the more the heroine, who is reluctant to fall in love and unsure if she can, is drawn to him. There’s plenty of hot sex, but the emotional connection was what really made this stand out for me.

  3. Coco says:

I haven’t read any of Julie Kenner’s erotica, though I have many of them in my TBR, but I have read her.

Years and years ago she wrote a series, The Protector (Superhero) Series, that was part superhero, part mythology, and entirely fun. Those may have been the first romantic comedies that I read. Certainly the love of them has stuck around. They were awesome!

Then she got into some sort of demonology something or other, that was not for me. But I think she also wrote some spyfi romance or perhaps chick lit, and then I lost track until erotica came out.

So I can’t speak for the erotica, but I can say that she never irritated me, and always entertained me. I imagine that these are worth reading.

“Soon they find themselves wanting more than their simple arrangement will allow. But to get there, Everly will have to open up in ways she thought she never could.”

Is that an euphemism for anal?

    Yeah, I went there.

Also, HUGE thumbs up for the Lauren Dane’s Federation books.

  5. Coco says:

    @ DonnaMarie

I loved Undercover. I found Relentless to be Unbearable. The rest of them, Insatiable, Mesmerized, and Captivated were really good.

    @ Amanda

I too want more scifi/fantasy erotica without the tentacles please!

Also (for me), without werewolves, vampires, demons, angels … Can I just have some human beings please? Or aliens? Or humans and aliens? Or human/alien hybrids? Or really just anything with black holes? No pun intended!

It seems like it would be thick on the ground but for whatever reason not so much.:-(

  6. Yaara says:

Getting an error on the B&N Sabriel link…

Btw, is there any romance in the plot? I tutor a 14 year old in English as a second language, and we read a lot of fantasy together, but try to steer away from the romance heavy books 🙂

  7. SB Sarah says:

    @Yaara:

I re-entered the link, so it should be working now. Thank you for the heads up!

  8. DonnaMarie says:

@Coco, I agree, Relentless was the weakest installment. There’s got to be one in every series. One the other hand, Lauren Dane, so you’ve got to read it. I’ve got new LD book tingles because there’s one winging it’s way to me as we speak as the Amazon shipping gods sent me an email. And the price went down .01! Whoo-hoo, savings!!!

  9. Lizzy says:

@Yara There is a little bit of Romance in Sabriel but it’s not at all the main point of the novel. It’s a great series, I loved it as a teenager.

  10. Heather S says:

The romance in “Sabriel” is very light and very secondary to the plot – it is neither the focal point of the story, nor does it drive the plot. “Lirael” and “Abhorsen” are like that, too, and the trilogy as a whole is one that shouldn’t be missed!
