Shelley Laurenston One-Day Deal, and More Paranormal Fun

  • The Beast in Him

    The Beast in Him by Shelly Laurentston

    The Beast in Him by Shelley Laurenston is a Kindle Daily Deal today at $1.99. This is book 2 in the Pride series, and has a 4.3-star average on GoodReads. I really like Laurenston’s characters, especially the women, as they are often bloodthirsty, fierce and unapologetic about both. Her shifter stories are sexy but have a lot of tribe politics, so they have a lot to enjoy.

    Animal magnetism has a whole new meaning. . .

    Some things are so worth waiting for. Like the moment when Jessica Ward “accidentally” bumps into heartthrob Bobby Ray Smith and shows him just how far she’s come since high school. Back then, Jess turned to jelly any time Smitty got near her. Some things haven’t changed. Except now Jess is a success on her own terms. And she can enjoy a romp–or twenty–with a big, bad wolf and walk away. Easy.

    The sexy, polished CEO who hires Smitty’s security firm might be a million miles from the lovable geek he knew, but her kiss, her touch, is every bit as hot as he imagined. Jess was never the kind to ask for help, and she doesn’t want it now–but someone is targeting her Pack. And Smitty’s not going to turn tail and run. Not before proving that their sheet-scorching animal lust is only the start of something even

  • The Mane Attraction

    The Mane Attraction by Shelly Laurenston

    The Mane Attraction by Shelly Laurenston is $1.99 as a Kindle Daily Deal. This is book 3 in the Pride series — The Mane Event ( A | BN | K | G | AB | Au | Scribd ), book 1, is $4.99 digitally if you want to grab the first three. The heroine of this book is particularly funny and sharp, and takes very little crap from anyone. If you like hot, steamy, funny, and over the top paranormal shifters, you’ll like this series.

    Even the king of the beasts can find himself unexpectedly tamed by the right woman. . .

    Weddings have the strangest effect on people. Exhibit 1: Sissy Mae waking up in Mitch Shaw’s bed the morning after her brother Bobby Ray’s nuptials. Exhibit 2: the gunmen trying to kill Mitch. Exhibit 3: Sissy Mae escorting a bleeding yet sexy lion shifter to her Tennessee Pack’s turf for safe keeping. It doesn’t help that Mitch’s appraising gaze makes her feel like the most desirable creature on earth. . .

    Mitch is an undercover cop about to testify against some dangerous ex-associates. Even more worrisome, he’s harboring hot, X-rated fantasies about one fast-talking little canine–and he has to deal with every male in Sissy Mae’s Pack sniffing around her in a way that makes his hackles rise. Mitch has his pride, and he intends to show Sissy Mae that when a lion sets out to make you his mate, the only thing to do is purr, roll over, and enjoy one hell of a ride. . .

  • Claimed

    Claimed by Rebecca Zanetti

    Claimed by Rebecca Zanetti is $1.99. This is book 2 in the Dark Protectors series and has a 4.2-star average on GoodReads. This is paranormal/urban fantasy with vampires and shifters, and readers who like whoa-alphas really liked this one.

  • Fire Burn and Cauldron Bubble

    Fire Burn and Cauldron Bubble by H.P. Mallory

    Fire Burn and Cauldron Bubble by HP Mallory is free at Amazon. This is book 1 in the Jolie Wilkins series, and it has a 3.8-star average. Some readers adored the steam level and the heroine, a witch caught between a warlock and a vampire, while others disliked the heroine’s indecisiveness about said triangle. There are five total books in the Jolie Wilkins series, and the ones after this book have 3.9-4+ stars. Have you read this series? What’s your take?

    Life isn’t bad for psychic Jolie Wilkins. True, she doesn’t have a love life to speak of, but she has a cute house in the suburbs of Los Angeles, a cat and a quirky best friend.

    Enter Rand Balfour, a sinfully attractive warlock who insists she’s a witch and who just might turn her life upside down. Rand hires her to help him solve a mystery regarding the death of his client who also happens to be a ghost. Jolie not only uncovers the cause of the ghost’s demise but, in the process, she brings him back to life!

    Word of Jolie’s incredible ability to bring back the dead spreads like wildfire, putting her at the top of the underworld’s most wanted list. Consequently, she finds herself at the center of a custody battle between a villainous witch, a dangerous but oh-so-sexy vampire, and her warlock boss, Rand.

General Bitching...

  1. Leah says:

    I got the first book in the Mane series a while back and I liked it! The banter is snappy and fun and the characters are likable, though they have a tendency to try to shoehorn in underdeveloped subplots alongside the romance… the story focuses for, like, 195 pages on cute sexy sweet things, and then the last twenty pages or so it’s like, oh crap, yeah, what about that mystery/murder/trial/bake-off we briefly mentioned as being so important at the beginning, BETTER WRAP THAT UP. Still, definitely very fun, and exactly what you want when you’re looking for more Princess Bride than Braveheart.

  2. DonnaMarie says:

    Shelly Laurenston for $1.99!! I need a good laugh, and wild dog Jessica and her pack are hysterical. Then there’s the general disdain with which the Smith pack, actually all breeds, regard lion males.

  3. Erin Burns says:

    Damn it, of course these would go on sale while I am credit cardless due to CC fraud.

  4. erinf1 says:

    @erin burns

    buy yourself an amazon giftcard. Any kindle purchases automatically apply to the GC first. I do that so I don’t get the fraud alert on my CC due to all the little charges and i can keep track of my spending better 🙂

  5. Erin Burns says:

    @erinf1

    I may have to do that. I actually have a threshold/store sort of thing set on my credit card so my amazon 1 clicks don’t freak it out. But at least this way it won’t be a problem if someone steals my credit card again. Nearly $400.00 worth of apparel someone tried to buy on my card. Fortunately my credit card company knows that I waste neither time nor money on clothing (only books and food), and so they didn’t even let the charge go through before shutting down my account. As an FYI to the public, while SearsMastercard has some awfully predatory interest rates, they have hands down the best fraud protection of any card I’ve worked with.

  6. DonnaMarie says:

    What a happy coincidence! The GBPL just notified me that Shelly Laurenston’s latest, The Unleashing, is waiting for me at the drive through!! Not a Prides book, but still, Yay!!

  7. Kelly S. says:

    Did I read The Mane Attraction’s summary right and we have cats, admittedly a big cat, and dogs (canine) sleeping together? Is the world coming to an end?

  8. Susan says:

    I really liked The Beast in Him. Jess and the wild dogs just cracked me up. But, TBH, despite some ups and downs in the series, almost all of the Pride Books make me laugh.

  9. Erin Burns says:

    @Kelly S.

    Yep, dogs and cats (and bears and jackals and honey badgers) living together – mass hysteria. It’s hysterical. This series is permanently on my reread shelf.

  10. PamG says:

    Love Laurenston/Aiken. She’s an autobuy for me, so sales make me a little sad and sheepish. Am I selfish? Nah. Patience is only a virtue at hardcover prices.

  11. Qualisign says:

    Read “The Unleashing” last night and really enjoyed it. It wasn’t quite as silly as other Laurentston books (which, incidentally, I love–and need–on occasion), but it did have a strong (literally!) female lead and Norse mythology. Catnip for someone who waaaaaay back in the day reveled reading it in Old Norse. Go Snorri. Oh. It also had rescue dogs.

  12. M says:

    I’m reading the Jolie Wilkins book series right now and they are the epitome of cheesy trash. I alternate between wondering what I’m doing putting myself through them and really liking it. I suppose that my problem is the same love triangle for five books gets me bored after a while.
