Help A Bitch Out - SOLVED!

HaBO: A Second Chance Story with a Race Car Driver Hero

You did it! We figured this one out! It is a truth universally acknowledged (by me for certain) that the Bitchery pretty much knows everything, and really, it's true. Scroll down to see the solution for this HaBO - and many thanks!

This HaBO is from Molly O’Keefe, who is looking for that elusive type of forgotten romance: the vacation read. Sometimes it’s in the vacation home, sometimes it’s lent to you when you run out of things to read, and sometimes you read it, leave it behind, and can’t get it out of your head. Here’s Molly’s story:

I’m writing because I have a HABO that has been killing me for years. I’m pretty sure this is the first romance I read.

My family went sailing every year with another family and the mom was a Harlequin Devotee. And after a week on the high seas of Lake Michigan, I was out of books and she loaned me one of hers.

It was about a race car driver and his ex-wife. He’d been in an accident years ago and she nursed him through it and then left because she couldn’t stand watching him risk his life. It’s a second chance at love story, because he comes back years later to woo her. This would have been a 1989-1990 Desire – probably a Man Of The Month.

I am betting someone knows this one – Harlequin Desire with race car hero seems like many, many forms of catnip for a whole bunch of readers, right?

Do you recognize this book?

  1. Julia aka mizzelle says:

This is a Harlequin Presents, but sounds right otherwise – Sally Wentworth’s Driving Force.

  2. Loramir says:

Julia’s sounds right, but if not, maybe Kelly Jamison’s Echoes From the Heart? It doesn’t say anything about whether the ex was in an accident or why they split but it is a Desire from 1990.

  3. Olivia says:

Was going to suggest Kelly Jamison’s, and I second “Echoes from the Heart” because the other one sounds like the accident was more current

  4. DonnaMarie says:

Mom subscribe to all of Harlequin/Silouhette lines back then, so I know I read this. It even sounds familiar, but it’s not one of the keepers under my bed. Once again, I am no help. But more importantly, is this a HABO from THE Molly O’Keefe? The Molly O’Keefe whose Indecent Proprosal made me late for work yesterday? If it is, I thank you Ms. O’Keefe. Amazing book.

  5. Echoes From The Heart for the WIN!!! That robe she’s wearing is bringing it all back!!! The first Harlequin I ever read! Thank you all you smart bitches!!

And Donna Marie – I’m the Molly that wrote Indecent Proposal – I’m really glad you enjoyed it. Sorry about making you late for work!

  6. DonnaMarie says:

@Molly O’Keefe, no need to be sorry. I regret nothing. There are few better reasons for tardiness than being unable to put down a book. At least that’s how it works for me. Hope Echoes From the Heart gives you a good reason to be late. Unless you’re supposed to be finishing a book. Then you need to put that book down and get back to work. I really, really want another Molly O’Keefe book RIGHT NOW!!

And congrats on not using anything submitted to the Bad Sex Bingo post.
