  • Back in the Game

Back in the Game by Lori Wilde

Back in the Game by Lori Wilde is $1.99. This is book 1 in the Stardust, Texas, series, and it has a 4.06-star average. Heads up for some catnip alert: the hero is a former baseball player who is looking for a ghostwriter to help him craft his memoir.

Wanted: ghostwriter. Must be female, a baseball fan, and have a great pair of legs.

Ex-pitcher Rowdy Blanton never saw a woman he couldn’t conquer or a team he couldn’t beat. And now that he’s off the field he’s ready to tell all about when he played the field. So he chooses Breeanne Carlyle to do the job—she’s got the requirements, but more important, there’s something about her that makes him want to be a better man.

Convinced there’s more to Rowdy than a good fastball, a wicked smile, and a tight pair of pants, Breeanne can’t help but be tempted. After all, it’s boring always being the good girl, and Rowdy dares her to be just a little bad. The stakes are high, but win or lose, this time Breeanne’s breaking all the rules playing the game of love.

  • Runaway Cowboy

    Runaway Cowboy by T.J. Kline

Runaway Cowboy by TJ Kline is .99 digitally right now. This is a cowboy novella – YES WAY –  that features a second chance love story. It has a 4.24-star average, and readers really like that the story explored how both characters have changed and grown in the time between their broken engagement and their second chance at a future together.

“You had your chance, and you threw it away …”

Five years ago, Jen woke up with a ring on her finger and her fiancé nowhere to be found. She swore she’d gotten over the betrayal, but when Clay unexpectedly hires on with the rodeo for a week, she finds herself torn between passion and regret.

Clay left intending never to see Jen again. He’s been running from his troubled past for far too long, and it’s not a life he wants for her. But it’s hard to run from the past when the past is your own family, and Clay finds himself thrown back into the chaos he thought he’d finally left behind.

Will the truth drive Jen away, or is there a second chance at happily-ever-after for this runaway cowboy?

  • Rescued by a Stranger

Rescued by a Stranger by Lizbeth Selvig

Rescued by a Stranger by Lisbeth Selvig is .99c. This is book 2 in the “Rural Gentlemen” series, which begins with The Rancher and the Rock Star, a book that has previously been on sale. Rescued by a Stranger was nominated for a RITA®, and our RITA® Reader Challenge reviewer Qualisign gave it a C+, saying that the beginning was terrific, but that the ending let her down quite a bit (note: review contains spoilers).

She’s a woman full of dreams.

When a stranger arrives in town on a vintage motorcycle, Jill Carpenter has no idea her life is about to change forever. She never expected her own personal knight in shining armor would be an incredibly charming and handsome southern man—but one with a deep secret.

He’s a man hoping to outrun a tragedy.

When Chase Preston jumped on his motorcycle to escape his wounded life, he didn’t expect the perfect woman to fall into his arms…literally! But though he can’t deny his feelings for the sweet and beautiful Jill, he doesn’t see any way he and his mistake-filled past will fit into her bright future.

Falling in love may require more than either can give.

The longer Chase stays in Kennison Falls, the more deeply Jill and the people of her home town pull him in. The more Jill discovers heroic qualities in Chase, the more she wants to find a home in his arms—if only he would trust her with the truth. But will truth tear them apart when Jill’s dreams start coming true and Chase’s past finally returns to haunt him? Or, can they get beyond dreams to find the love that will rescue their two hearts?

  • Good Guys Wear Black

Good Guys Wear Black by Lizbeth Selvig

Good Guys Wear Black by Lisbeth Selvig is $1.99. This is book 4 of the “Rural Gentleman” series, and it has a 4.17-star average. The hero in this book was almost a football star, but due to illness has become the local coach of the high school team. The heroine has moved to his small town with her son, who has Asperger’s. Some readers loved that the heroine, who is a librarian, was trying to be a god parent while also facing issues like book banning at school, while other readers disliked the portrayal of her son. Have you read this book?

Dewey Mitchell loves three things: fixing old cars, football, and family. Although an illness robbed him of his NFL dreams and his hopes for a big family of his own, he’s made himself content working the family business and coaching middle school football. But when his town’s vibrant new librarian and her young, emotionally challenged son burst into his ordered life, Dewey finds himself inexplicably drawn to the fascinating woman.

Boston-born Rose Hanrehan had no idea how different living in a small town would be. But she’s determined to start fresh for her son, who deals with Asperger’s syndrome, without her overbearing parents judging her every move. Of course, sometimes her new neighbors seem to be equally closed-minded. And there’s one new neighbor she can’t seem to avoid … in fact, the handsome Dewey, despite his black hat and buried emotions, might end up being the only reason to stay in Kennison Falls.

Neither one is looking for love, but what they’re starting to feel can’t be anything else. Will the longtime bachelor and the free-spirited librarian let themselves fall? Or will their differences get in the way of their happy ending?

What happened to the $1.99 for the Back in the Game?!? It is listed as $7.99 everywhere now. I made the mistake of reading the sample and now I am crazy tempted to purchase at full price. Thanks Smart Bitches! .~

  2. Valerie says:

@Priscilla – If it helps, the audiobook of Back in the Game is on Scribd.

  3. Lucylegs says:

Apparently some people read Rescued by a Stranger thinking it was a Christian romance, as apparently it was misfiled. They were not happy about this. One reviewer said: “There are 4 letter words, and the thoughts the characters had were not Christian as well” and another complained that “it also did not have a God based theme that I like”. This made me giggle and I thought I would share with you guys – may you all find exactly the book you want to read today!

  4. KristieJ says:

Alas, all these books are $10 in Canada. All way beyond my ebook buying budget.

  5. Christine says:

I decided to check out Good Guys Wear Black on Scribd (thanks for the link!)… I find it to be a wholly believable portrayal of a couple of super irritating people. So kudos for writing true-to-life characters, but I’m not sure I’m going to finish it…. Also, it’s a crime that the dude on the cover doesn’t have a luxurious, Tom Selleck mustache like the guy in the book–it’s practically a character in itself!

  6. Melissa says:

Christine, the disappearance of the mustache is part of the story later on. I was more upset that in the first book Dewey was described as having ginger hair (pretty sure the word leprechaun was used) then when he gets his own book his hair is black. For all the redheaded heroines in romance you think there would be more love for their male counterparts.

  7. Coco says:

    @ Melissa

Right? Because: Damian Lewis, Eddie Redmayne, Tom Hiddleston, Prince Harry, Simon Wood, Ewan McGregor, Julian Rhind-Tutt, Paul Bettany, David Caruso, Seth Green, Robert Redford, Eric Stoltz, …

    Ewww, redheads.

    !?

I could happily look at any one of these men all day long.

  8. Coco says:

OMG! I totally forgot Max Martini.

    I’m SO ashamed!

    He’s my favorite one.
