Knowing the Score by Kat Latham is 99c! This is a contemporary sports romance – set in the world of rugby. It has a 3.7 average, and readers at GR liked the humor and the dialogue between the hero and heroine (though some reviews warn of a slow start to the story). Kat Latham also made an appearance in this year’s DABWAHA tournament!
Rugby player Spencer Bailey is determined to win a spot on England’s World Cup team. We featured the first book, Full Exposure, on sale last October, and it seems like the full series may be on sale. Instead of the best friend’s little sister trope. What Goes on Tour by Claire Boston is a freebie today! We all need a free book (or five) on Monday mornings. This is the first book in the Texan Quartet series. A former nerd turned rockstar becomes the guardian of his niece. The heroine is an author, but takes a job as the niece’s nanny to pay the bills. I should also note that the jacket copy references the possibility of a child in peril. Has anyone read this one?

I just noticed that My Steadfast Heart by Jo Goodman is free on Kindle right now. I’ve really enjoyed the couple of Goodman books I’ve read, but they’re also maybe the only romances I’ve ever read where I occasionally think “this may be too much showing, not enough telling” as I invariably lag behind the characters in working out everyone’s motivations. They’re very smart books, in kind of low-key, easy-to-overlook ways. I see that Amazon reviews are both “yay, five stars, best ever!” and “I couldn’t always understand what was happening”. Which, sometimes, is just what I want! It’s sometimes so enjoyable to be a little bit left in the dust by a book that knows what it’s doing.
