Giveaway: A KitchenAid Stand (Mixer) and Lynsay Sands!

Book The Immortal Who Loved Me To celebrate the 21st book in Lynsay Sands’ Argeneau series, The Immortal Who Loved Me, Avon asked if they could give away a 4.5 quart Kitchen Aid standing mixer here at the hot pink palace.

Like I would say no to anything that involved the remote possibility of baked goods, right?

Why baked goods? As Caro, the lovely publicists who came up with this buttery idea wrote to me, “Since the heroine, Sherry Carne, owns a kitchen goods store, I thought it’d be fun to give away a fancy KitchenAid stand mixer, because honestly, who doesn’t want one of those? It’s like the Cadillac of cookie equipment.” She’s not wrong – I have one, and I use it all the time. So let’s get to it, eh?

The grand prize is an Ultra Power® Series 4.5-Quart Tilt-Head Stand Mixer from KitchenAid, in the winner’s choice of color – and this thing comes in red, green, blue, pink, yellow, and something that looks a lot like Tiffany blue – it’s kind of amazing.

Ahoy, widget!

Oh, I’ve always wanted one of those mixers. Also, nuts have no place in a good cookie, although if they are great if you are trying to be good on a diet. It’s the only time I’ll add nuts.

  2. Lisa J says:

I would love to have the mixer, but the giveaway says it is closed.

Nuts have no place in cookies.

  3. Rachel B. says:

Er…the giveaway is marked “Closed” already. Am I doing something wrong???

  4. AnnaM says:

That mixer is lovely. Nuts only belong in some cookies. Oatmeal: Yes. Sugar Cookies: NO.

  5. Sheila says:

    is the contest over already??

  6. Jilli says:

I’ve lusted after one of those mixers ever since reading Wallbanger last year. I’m moving later this year and would love a chance to winning one, but like everyone else, the widget is telling me that the raffle is closed. Did I do something wrong?

  7. Erin Burns says:

Whoohoo! A stand mixer, I adore these!

  8. SB Sarah says:

OK. First, if there was ever any doubt in your mind that a person runs the site, hi there, yes, I do, and clearly I’m having a Bad Technology Set of Days here. GEEZ. My apologies for the error!

I’m not sure what happened to the Rafflecopter widget that said the contest was closed. I logged into the back end and that widget wasn’t even there! So I re-created it. (Also, keep your electronics away from me for now, k?)

If you already entered, please re-enter the giveaway using the widget above that should be working (oh please for heaven’s sake be working because this is ridiculous).

If you have any questions, please email me at Sarah AT Smartbitchestrashybooks DOTTY com – and again, I’m really sorry for the problem. NO idea what happened.

  9. Katrina says:

Easy. I would make lemon meringue pie (completely from scratch, of course)!

  10. Theresa Cole says:

Chocolate chip cookies would be first on the list! I don’t make them often enough, but that would surely change if I had one of these mixers on my counter, begging to be used. 🙂

  11. Veronica says:

    Cookies. Yum

  12. Kelly Manning says:

I don’t know what happened to my entry for the stand mixer. I tried type in my comment and it submitted a blank entry. Ugh. I probably fat fingered something.

  13. Anna says:

Around here, I am known as the cupcake queen. New mixer will help continue my reign. Mwah-ha-ha-ha!

  14. Jilli says:

I’m not sure what I’d bake first. Maybe a fluffy vanilla cake.

  15. Karen H says:

Bread. I would make bread with the mixer. As far as cookies and nuts go: who cares? It’s a cookie. Yum.

  16. Erica H says:

I would make chocolate chip peanut butter cookies!

  17. LaurieF says:

It’s what my daughter-in-law would bake/make. She loves to cook from scratch, avoiding packaged food as much as possible. She’d be in heaven to work with this beautiful appliance. Plus yay! Lynsay Sands. I met her once at a Book Expo and she and her husband were awesome.

  18. Maggie says:

I am all about loaf cakes! Lemon! Pumpkin! Cranberry orange! Chocolate coconut! Loaf cakes for all!

  19. Corinne Day says:

Cookies, cookies, and more cookies. I do decorated cookies and my original stand mixer broke…

  20. Patricia M. says:

    No nuts ever!

  21. Jen G. says:

The first thing I’d make would be a batch of my favorite cookies — apple peanut pretzel drops from Vegan Cookies in my Cookie Jar. And I love cookies with nuts in them, but I’ve developed an allergy to tree nuts, so they’re a no go!

  22. Melanie says:

    Yum..cookies. And bread!

  23. Annette says:

I’d make thumbprint jam cookies with homemade jam!

  24. Stephanie says:

I would make so much bread! I’ve been on a quest to make the perfect focaccia for many moons now

  25. kathybaug says:

Gotta be cookies. Maybe chocolate chip to start

  26. Carla says:

No idea what I’d bake first, but I’d find some recipe that I currently would avoid due to not having a mixer. Something with a meringue, maybe. Something I’m not willing to beat by hand.

  27. Nita says:

My biscochito recipe involves hand-kneading the dough, but I’d be willing to try speeding it up with one of these babies! They are so darn pretty.

  28. keri says:

    What a fab giveaway pair!

My sister got a Kitchenaid Stand Mixer at her first wedding, and a few years ago showed me how she makes her own pizza dough in it. I am infinitely envious of this ability, and I covet one of the mixers so I can do the same. (Also to prep dough for homemade bread!)

I prefer savoury to sweet most of the time. 😀

  29. Erin Burns says:

If I won I’d make lemon meringue pie!

  30. Erin Burns says:

And nuts don’t belong in cookies, but muffins are possible. I make a pecan pie mini muffin that’s been known to make people cry.

  31. Katie Ann says:

There’s this wacky stuff called protein fluff that is supposedly like ice cream for protein enthusiasts, and I’ve never been too excited about spending several minutes holding a hand mixer. So, that. 🙂

  32. Connie says:

I have one but its old! Time for a pretty new one. I like nuts in some cookies!

  33. Allison says:

I’d totally bake a super huge bundt cake with this mixer. Coffee cake for a coffee klatch?

  34. Seanna says:

    All the cookies!!!!!

  35. Courtney says:

I would make a pavlova – all that egg white whipping would be so easy!

  36. Amy Martin says:

If I won the mixer I would make a batch of double chocolate mint cookies. I have a recipe that tastes just like thin mints but with chocolate chips!

  37. tealadytoo says:

Fruitcake. I make a mean fruitcake that people actually WANT to eat, but it is a pain to stir.

Nuts in cookies is a generosity play for me. I like nuts OK, but the dh doesn’t. So if I want to share, no nuts. If I add them, then the cookies are ALL MINE! (Or can be donated to the bake sale without fear of premature snitching.)

  38. Vicki says:

I would make cornbread and chocolate chip cookies and maybe even cake. I am looking for a recipe from my youth – orange cake with chocolate flakes – sadly mom gave that cookbook away while I was off having kids and a life.

  39. Qualisign says:

Rosemary bread. Then shortbread cookies. And I’d read while they were cooking. Then eat them while I was reading.

  40. Camilla says:

I would use it for thumbprints which must have pecans!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So yes, nuts are good in cookies!
