Spider’s Bite by Jennifer Estep is a Kindle Daily Deal today at $1.99, and Google is matching. Not sure what the price matching fairies will do with that but I hope the prices drop elsewhere. if you like urban fantasy series featuring supreme asskicking on the part of the heroine, you’d like this one: Gin Blanco is an assassin who wields supernatural powers, and really, much like you should never mess with Liam Neeson characters, you shouldn’t mess with her, either. This is book 1 in the Elemental Assassin series, and it has a 3.8-star average.

Secrets of the Lighthouse by Santa Montefiore is $1.99 at Amazon and Google. This book seems more like women’s fiction (Sorry – I hate that term, too) than romance, though there is a strong romantic element. The heroine finds her very pampered life stifling and runs to a remote lighthouse in Ireland, where a ghost of a woman is trapped, unable to move on.
This book has a 3.7-star average, and readers who liked it say that the atmosphere of the novel and the vividness of the setting were the best part.
