10th Anniversary Giveaway Celebration: Part 1

John DeSalvo in a hot pink toga grasping a woman with huge breasts - above it says Ten Years of Smart BitchesThis Saturday, January 31, 2015, Smart Bitches will be ten years old. Yay! We’ve been counting down each month looking back at some of the most popular pages in the site’s archives over the past year. Now it’s time to party!

So all this week, we’re celebrating with two giveaways each day – ten in all (see my elite math skills there? I double checked them, too) – until Saturday.

Over on the right, we have John DeSalvo and his hot pink gladiator outfit, because I have decreed that the 10th Anniversary for a Romance Blog must be decorated with hot pink gladiators. Or at least with a nipple. The traditional gift is now one DeSalvo nipple looking at you. Or me. Or both.

We have books, puzzles, crafty things, pretty things, sparkly things, drinky things – all the things! We’re giving away All the Things to celebrate.

Each giveaway will be open until 31 January 2015, and each prize pack is open to international residents where applicable by law. Must be over 18 to win.  Void where prohibited.

  4. Liz says:

Julie Ann Long comes to mind. Not too long after I started reading the blog, a bunch of her books went on sale on Amazon – announced here – I bought like six and tore through them.

Happy anniversary! Here’s to many more years.

  5. Laura Boon says:

I discovered Courtney Milan thanks to you ladies. I think you reviewed The Suffragette Scandal but I bought The Duchess War. Go figure. However, The Suffragette Scandal is on my Kindle TBR pile.

  6. Megan Brewer says:

Happy 10th Anniversary – oh how the years have gone by in fuschia

Honestly I should thank the bitchery for all of my current romance reading 🙂 But in particular I would name Sherry Thomas, Sarah Morgan and Courtney Milan.

  7. Jordan says:

Lord of Scoundrels was one of my first finds on Smart Bitches! Also, I wrote in after liking the In Death Series but not knowing where to start with regular Nora books and got some wonderful recommendations too! Thanks SBTB!! You rock!

  8. Megan says:

    Julia quinn

  9. Inga says:

    Happy Anniversary SB!

I discovered Loretta Chase’s books on this blog.

  10. Jikie says:

Er, probably Courtney Milan and Sarah Maclean. And Patricia C. Wrede’s Sorcery and Cecelia. Love that one.

Count me among those who discovered Loretta Chase here!

  12. Katie Lynn says:

Happy anniversary! I discovered Courtney Milan, for whom I shall be ever grateful to this site.

  13. Lisa McCray says:

I think it has been a little over a year since I found the Bitchery, and you guys have rocked my reading world! SO MUCH good stuff! I hadn’t read much romance for *years*, which means there’s still a ton of awesome stuff I am catching up on. Thanks to you and NPR Monkey See I have so much fantastic stuff to read/watch/think about. Love it!

  14. Aimee says:

Happy anniversary! I’ve loved this website for many a year. Thanks for the greatness and laughs. I’ve found Courtney Milan and Tessa Dare!

  15. Coco says:

I’m so new I’ve not even read any new authors yet! I have added Courtney Milan to my TBR and several others I can’t think of off the top of my head.

Congratulations on the last ten years and I’m so happy I get to be here for the next ten.

  16. Kareni says:

Happy 10th birthday to you all!

  17. Coco says:

Also, I don’t think this is where you enter the raffle but if it is please count me out.

420 sq ft & a collecting personality = there’s no more room in my house!

    I have too many books.
    Even my kindle is crowded.

  18. AB says:

    I found Courtney Milan!

  19. MariaB says:

I’ve discovered many many books here on this blog. I found Loretta Chase before I found the block, but I wouldn’t have reached back into the back list and found Lord of Scoundrels as soon as I did (I think I went from Mr. Impossible to Lord) thanks to SBTB. I love the Bitchery!

  20. Happy Anniversary! Of course I have discovered authors because of SBTB. The first was Lord of Scoundrels and since then there’s everything by Courtney Milan, Tessa Dare, and Jill Shalvis. Before coming here, I barely ever read anything in the historical genre and now that’s mainly all I read. 🙂

  21. Elise S. says:

Oh so many authors discovered here Loretta Chase, Lilith Saintcrow, Caroline Linden, Jennifer Crusie…I could skim my Calibre list and go on for awhile this way.

  22. Alaina Keener says:

I want all of the things!!!! happy anniversary, bitches! i love you guys!!

  23. LaineyT says:

I’d never read Courtney Milan until hearing about her books from the Bitchery. Thank you soon much for that and happy anniversary!

  24. Lea says:

I read The Bollywood Affair because of you. I also just added Courtney Milan’s contemporary to my TBR – I’ve wanted to read her because of your podcasts but am not a huge historical reader.

  25. Eli says:

Have found many authors here. But based on the series re-read right now: Gail Carriger.

  26. My e-reader bears horrifying witness to the fact that I’ve discovered new authors here. Meljean Brook would be one of them – I love her Iron Seas stories.

  27. Louise H says:

I’ve discovered many of my favorites here! I think the one that stands out the most was Julie James. It was probably during the Save the Contemporary thing you were doing. I remember reading the synopsis for the first of her FBI/US Attorneys series and thinking I really wasn’t sure I wanted to read it. At this point I don’t remember exactly what it was that I didn’t like. But you guys raved SO MUCH. I caved and bought it and LOVED it so much. I think I have all her books now. And the series itself is an auto-buy for me. It’s actually one that I’ve learned is perfect for me to re-read on planes. I hate flying and have to drug myself and these are perfect in that they’re not new where I have to catch every detail, but the humor and dialogue hold up so well that even though I’ve read it before, it catches me up in the story and distracts me from being in a crowded, enclosed space.

  28. Pirkko says:

As so many others: The wonderful Courtney Milan 🙂
Plus so many others I don´t know where to start…

  29. Sally says:

10 years already! I feel old.

  30. rissatoo says:

Happy Anniversary, SBTB! Thanks for introducing me to SO many authors! (The first to come to mind is Courtney Milan, but truly, the list goes on & on!)

  31. Merm8fan says:

Is it odd that my current obsession at the hands of SBTB is Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries? I’ll get back to actual reading soon, I promise!

  32. Joannaw says:

    Happy anniversary!!

  33. Jennifer McQuiston’s WHAT HAPPENS IN SCOTLAND.

  34. Amara Royce says:

    Happy anniversary!!

I discovered so many new-to-me authors here! The one that stands out most is Loretta Chase. I had a gap in my romance reading from high school to my 30s and missed sooooooo much! Thanks to SBTB and your community for pointing me in some great directions!

  35. Katrina T. says:

Happy Anniversary! The last discovery I remember was Susan Napier after I heard Sarah and Ilona Andrews talk about her books in a podcast.

  36. Diana says:

I discovered Eloisa James because of you, so thanks!

  37. Sharon Sommer says:

Jeaniene Frost I had never read any of her books.
    Thank you.

  38. Nettle says:

SBTB brought me to Courtney Milan and KJ Charles, two of my favorites!

  39. SaraC says:

Happy anniversary! I’ve been reading you since the beginning, and loving every minute of it!

  40. Celia Marsh says:

Sarah Morgan’s books, and some other awesome contemporaries.
