10th Anniversary Giveaway Celebration: Part 1

John DeSalvo in a hot pink toga grasping a woman with huge breasts - above it says Ten Years of Smart BitchesThis Saturday, January 31, 2015, Smart Bitches will be ten years old. Yay! We’ve been counting down each month looking back at some of the most popular pages in the site’s archives over the past year. Now it’s time to party!

So all this week, we’re celebrating with two giveaways each day – ten in all (see my elite math skills there? I double checked them, too) – until Saturday.

Over on the right, we have John DeSalvo and his hot pink gladiator outfit, because I have decreed that the 10th Anniversary for a Romance Blog must be decorated with hot pink gladiators. Or at least with a nipple. The traditional gift is now one DeSalvo nipple looking at you. Or me. Or both.

We have books, puzzles, crafty things, pretty things, sparkly things, drinky things – all the things! We’re giving away All the Things to celebrate.

Each giveaway will be open until 31 January 2015, and each prize pack is open to international residents where applicable by law. Must be over 18 to win.  Void where prohibited.

  11. Kathleen says:

    Oh yeah!

  12. JennyOH says:

I did discover a fabulous book here, but I cannot now remember it! I think it was Laura Kinsale, the title was something to do with a storm, or a tempest maybe? The hero is injured and unable to speak and everyone thinks he’s gone insane, and the heroine is a Quaker (I think) who breaks with her community to help the hero recover. Damn, what is it? I want to read this again!

  13. greeneyedfem says:

Happy 10 years!! Really, I’ve discovered all of my favorite romance writers through this site: Loretta Chase, Laura Kinsale, Sherry Thomas, Josh Lanyon, Nalini Singh, Julia Spencer-Fleming, Georgette Heyer, Jennifer Crusie — so many wonderful books and characters — and lots of snark to go with them! Thank you!!

  14. Heather L says:

OMG so many authors! I don’t even know where to start…

Sarah MacLean, Jennifer McQuiston, Rose Lerner, Nalini Singh, Zoe Archer, Julie James… I got The Bollywood Affair and The Kraken King for Christmas but have been saving them for a special occasion

Next I want to try some of the Old Skool recs.

  15. Stephanie S says:

SBTB has been a frothy fount of new authors! Thanks for introducing me to Tessa Dare and Courtney Milan.

  16. Sara says:

Happy anniversary! Also, thanks for turning me on to Laura Kinsale – looking forward to reading some of her stuff in the coming weeks. After I get through Code Name Verity.

  17. Fran says:

So cool that SBTB is turning 10! First place that really made me cool with reading romance~~so glad to be part of such an awesome community. Thanks to Sarah, thanks to the regular contributers, and thanks for these giveaways!!!

  18. BillieB says:

Blatant pandering ahead. Ye Be Warned.

I discovered the awesomely smart and snarky Ms. Sarah Wendell through this website and am a devoted reader of both her non-fiction and her fiction. Ieven had the honor of being quoted in ‘Everything I Know About Love…’ (which is even cooler than that one time I showed up in a friend’s Acknowledgments). Happy Bitchaversary!

  19. I can’t believe the Bitchery is ten years old. Happy anniversary! Over the years I’ve been reading SBTB, I’ve discovered so many wonderful books and authors. I never read romances before I came here. I was too busy being a Very Intellectual Literature Snob. Thankfully, Sarah showed me the error of my ways. I’m particularly grateful to SBTB for introducing me to Courtney Milan and Tessa Dare. They’re both on my auto-buy list now, and I can always count on them to help make a bad day go a little better.

  20. monique says:

Congratulations! Here’s to many more birthdays!

  21. SB Sarah says:

@JennyOH: That’s Flowers From the Storm by Laura Kinsale! It’s on sale at Audible, too, right now, if you’d like to re-experience it through the audiobook version. It’s amazing.

  22. Katrina says:

    Courtney Milan!

  23. Melissandre says:

I have discovered so many great authors through this site, but Loretta Chase is probably the one I remember and am grateful for the most!

  24. Katie D. says:

I’ve discovered a number of authors through SBTB, but I think Loretta Chase is the one that sticks in my mind best 🙂 Thanks for the crack!

  28. JennEllens says:

I’ve found way too many authors to mention through Smart Bitches. There’s always at least one book, if not many more, that I get after listening to a podcast alone. Love the site! Congratulations on 10 fabulous years!

I totally discovered Courtney Milan thanks to SBTB! All Hail the Royal Court of Romancelandia!

  38. Rachel says:

All awesomeness to you ladies. I owe my ebook romance world to you all; you revitalised and broadened my reading and destroyed my bank balance in the process – so many thanks! Can’t think of a specific author BUT you have taught me to see the humour in some of those DNF disasters (and probably helped prevent my kindle meeting the wall) xx

  39. LenoreJ says:

Courtney Milan, Cecilia Grant & Carrie Lofty & Julie Ann Long &&&&&&!

  40. Jane Drew says:

I…. am not sure if we comment here for the raffle entry, or in the raffle entry itself, somehow. Anyway- off the top of my head, Courtney Milan, fantastic Smart Bitches discovery (to the great woe of my wallet).
