10th Anniversary Giveaway Celebration: Part 1

John DeSalvo in a hot pink toga grasping a woman with huge breasts - above it says Ten Years of Smart BitchesThis Saturday, January 31, 2015, Smart Bitches will be ten years old. Yay! We’ve been counting down each month looking back at some of the most popular pages in the site’s archives over the past year. Now it’s time to party!

So all this week, we’re celebrating with two giveaways each day – ten in all (see my elite math skills there? I double checked them, too) – until Saturday.

Over on the right, we have John DeSalvo and his hot pink gladiator outfit, because I have decreed that the 10th Anniversary for a Romance Blog must be decorated with hot pink gladiators. Or at least with a nipple. The traditional gift is now one DeSalvo nipple looking at you. Or me. Or both.

We have books, puzzles, crafty things, pretty things, sparkly things, drinky things – all the things! We’re giving away All the Things to celebrate.

Each giveaway will be open until 31 January 2015, and each prize pack is open to international residents where applicable by law. Must be over 18 to win.  Void where prohibited.

Happy anniversary! I had to look up traditional anniversary gifts to see if 10th is the wood anniversary but, alas, it is not.

  2. Sam says:

Happy anniversary SBTB! Here’s to many more to come. I read Pregnesia after hearing Sarah talk about it at the 2013 Romance Writers of Australia conference. OMG. Talk about hilarious. Now I come here when I need a romance rec or just happy laugh time.

  3. Carrie C. says:

I had trouble with the blogpost commenting on rafflecopter so I’ll just do it here-thanks for introducing me to Phryne Fisher and Kerry Greenwood’s writing! Hits all my catnip spots. :3

  4. GHN says:

Happy anniversary! I do love the snark and fun, but also the opportunity to add to my TBR pile! I have discovered several authors and books ia the Bitchery – Courtney Milan is on top of that particular list.

  5. Sara says:

What a pleasant surprise! I’ve only been reading/following SBTB for little less than a year now, but I’ve already discovered several new to me authors both through your reviews and deals posts, most lately Jeaniene Frost and Jeannie Lin.

  6. K F says:

    Happy anniversary!

I have to admit that I am not experienced with the rafflecopter so if I’m supposed to be doing this somewhere else just let me know!

I’ve discovered so many authors thanks to the Bitches – including Loretta Chase (which is why I’m entering this, I want that signed LoS SO BAD), Courtney Milan, Tessa Dare, Molly O’Keefe, Julie James, Kit Rocha… this list is too long to finish, but basically I’ve been getting recs from you guys since I started reading romance.

Oh! And Shayla Black… I was reading an anthology and little bits of this novella sounded so familiar and I couldn’t work out why. Eventually I realised it was a novella from the same series as the “fucking her ass, saving her life” book!

  7. Lauren says:

    Yay 10 Years!

I’ve discovered so many authors from SBTB, best among them, Jeanine Frost. I’m so grateful, Cat and Bones are kickass!

  8. Alexis says:

Had trouble with rafflecopter commenting … I know I’ve been introduced to many an author through Smart Bitches but the first that comes to mind is Loretta Chase! Happy Anniversary!

  9. Tünde says:

    Happy Anniversary!
I have to thank you for a lot of authors: Loretta Chase, Naomi Novik, Julie James, Graeme Simsion, Jill Shalvis, Karina Bliss, Sarah Morgan, Victoria Dahl, Jim C. Hines just to name a few.

  10. Helen R-S says:

I’ve discovered many authors thanks to SBTB – way too many to list them all, but a few are Sarah Morgan, Sarah Mayberry and Elise Sax.

  11. jennifer says:

Top 3 authors I go to know via SBTB and which I am very grateful about would be Julie James and Claudia Connor.

  12. Yaara says:

I’ve discovered countless authors here, but one of my favorites recently was Eileen Wilks – I totally glommed her entire backlist after a recommendation in one of the comment threads.

  13. Anony Miss says:

All about that Chase, about that Chase, Loretta!

    And Courtney (swoonworthy brothers) Milan.

    Happy birthday!

  14. Kathryn Flaherty says:

Without your website I would never have discovered Courtney Milan and of course A Bollywood Affair so Thanks from me and grumbles from my bank account.

  15. Lisa J says:

There have been so many new authors, but the one that sticks out the most is Miranda Neville.

  16. Lauren says:

There are so many authors that SBTB has introduced me to, it’s been hard to pick just one, or even my favorite!

Sarah MacLean, Courtney Milan, Tessa Dare… the list goes on and on.

    Thank you SBTB!

  17. L says:

Happy Birthday! All this in 10 years and you aren’t even up to puberty yet! Imagine what the next 10 years will bring! There are too many authors and books that have come my way care of SBTB and my bank account hates you. I love the new worlds that have been opened up to me. THANKS!

  18. StarOpal says:

Happy anniversary! You guys have turned me onto soooo many books, and given me a place where people just “get” what is so awesome about reading.

  19. Alexandra says:

I’ve discovered so many books and authors here! And of course I don’t really remember any oft them right now, except “Beyond Heaving Bosoms”, obviously. Read it, loved it, bought it at least two more times as gifts for friends! 🙂
And then of course I used the awesome book identifying powers of the bitchery. My HaBO was solved in the 3rd comment, it turned out to be Sweets to the Sweet by Jennifer Greene. I was so happy.

    Thank you, Smart Bitches! 🙂

  20. Maureen says:

Happy Anniversary! I have so enjoyed seeing what you had to say here for a while. The reviews are great and I have definitely found some good stories here. My memory is terrible but I think I first heard of Sarah MacLean here.

  21. TaraR says:

Courtney Milan. I owe you guys for Courtney Milan.

Interestingly I also discovered books that are not strictly romance through SBTB. The Vorkosigan Saga, for instance, is a series I read after seeing just how many commentors here loved the books. It’s now one of my favorites.

  22. Diane says:

Happy anniversary, Smart Bitches! My husband wonders why I laugh so much at the computer – thank you for the deliciously snarky reviews.

  23. Laura says:

Happy Anniversary! Courtney Milan and Jim C. Hines (he’s in my TBR pile…just can’t resist after all the hilarious covers he did!)

  24. Betsy B says:

My most recent discovery here is Jim C. Hines, although SBTB made me reconsider Miranda Neville, as well.

  25. Jennifer says:

Happy anniversary – I rediscovered the romance genre after from SBTB

  26. Happy anniversary! I discovered “Beyond Heaving Bosoms” through your site and still fondly remember that as the Choose Your Own Adventure book where I got killed twice. Well, killed once and spent my life in an opium-riddled haze the other time I played.

  27. Sarah L. says:

I discovered the awesomeness that is Jennifer Lynn Barnes, Kristan Higgins, Shannon Stacey, and I don’t know how many others through this site. Plus a love of cover snark that will never die! Here’s to 10 more years!!!

  28. SaraS says:

Happy Anniversary SB! I am so grateful for the day I happened upon ‘Beyond Heaving Bosoms’ on an unassuming Hastings shelf. The community, the dialogues and the insights have been wonderful to be a part of. But let’s be real – the GIF reviews are the reason I visit this place multiple times a day.

  29. Kellie says:

Pretty much EVERY romance author I’ve read – you introduced me to some of my happiest-making books!

  30. Jenny says:

Lord of Scoundrels was my first find. Also, Sarah Morgan’s books!

  31. Ruth says:

Happy Anniversary & thanks for the awesome giveaways!

  32. Ruth says:

And in answer to the Rafflecopter question…probably Loretta Chase!

  33. PamG says:

Happy Anniversary, Ladies! Many thanks for making me laugh inappropriately for time & place, for reawakening my secret romance reader, and most of all, for introducing me to a multitude of authors across a multitude of genres. Because smart bitches read everything!

  34. Leslie says:

I can’t go a single day with some SBTB sass! Happy Anniversary!

  35. Megan says:

Happy 10th anniversary!! I actually ended up reading Lord of Scoundrels after seeing it highly recommended by a lot of different people on here. Thankfully I did 🙂 And Tessa Dare was another author I found through SBTB. Your track record is looking pretty great! Here’s to another great 10 years 🙂

  36. Jessica says:

    Happy Anniversary!

This site has introduced me to so many books (my TBR pile thanks you). As well as books that I might not want to purchase but borrow from my library (cause book buying budgeting is hard).

  37. Jaime says:

I found Courtney Milan thanks to you guys. Congrats on the anniversary! Whenever somebody questions my enjoyment of romance novels, I send them to your blog!

  38. Happy anniversary! I’ve found so many new authors and books to try. Here’s to many more years of SBTB!

  39. Brianne says:

Many, many authors. I think this site first brought Lord of Scoundrels to my attention and also turned me onto Sarah Morgan, when Sleigh Bells in the Snow was the book club pick. I have since gone on to glom onto her digital backlist. I’m sure there are many more.

    Congratulations on 10 years!

  40. Veronica says:

I have this website to thank for Courtney Milan and Louisa James. Happy 10th anniversary!
