Help A Bitch Out - SOLVED!

HaBO: A Moment in the Kindle Storefront

You did it! We figured this one out! It is a truth universally acknowledged (by me for certain) that the Bitchery pretty much knows everything, and really, it's true. Scroll down to see the solution for this HaBO - and many thanks!

Vicki is looking for a book she caught a glimpse of recently – and is hopeful one of you will know which book it was:

On Columbus Day, I was in a waiting room browsing the Kindle Storefront. I had just happened on a book that looked promising and I was called back for my appointment. I thought I’d take a more indepth look later, but couldn’t find it. It’s driving me crazy and Google is no help at all. So– what I remember of the product description:

It’s a historical novel, probably Regency and shows a couple on the cover. The synopsis of the story went like this: nobleman finds his fiancee asleep in bed with another man (shirt-tail relation of his). She is forced to marry the man she was found in bed with and her marriage is 11 years of hell. When her husband dies, he leaves a letter for her and her former fiancee. Based on the letter, they try to rebuild a relationship.

I think the title had the word Betrayal in it, but that may just be projection based on the description.

If anyone can help me find this, I know you can. The Bitchery has come up with titles with much less to go on.

Thanks for your help.

This has happened to me before, especially when I download, read, and then delete a bunch of samples, afterwards realizing I wanted to read one of them and can’t remember which it was. Do you recognize this book? Maybe you bought it recently?

I need to read this book

Good grief, that was fast! Wow!

    Did you read it, Olivia?

  3. Lydia says:

It sounds intriguing, but that Goodreads blurb starts off as a mess!

“THE LETTER is a story of a betrayal that wasn’t. Even so, it still tore two lovers apart for eleven years.”

    Ack!

I’d love to hear opinions if anyone has read this!

That’s it! What’s really bad is when I looked it up on Amazon, I was told I purchased it in May 2013. So I guess I’ve read it — but it must not have been memorable. I’ll have to download it again and check it out.

Thanks for your help. I can now go back to reading instead of searching.

Noooo, I just enjoy trying to find these, and let’s hope no one decides to look at my web history at work. *cough* 😀

This happens to me ALL THE TIME.

    @Olivia:

You’re like a master HaBO sleuth! That’s awesome.

It’s so satisfying when these are solved. @SB Sarah, is there a place where we can put the unsolved ones to refer back to from time to time? I really want to know about that spy/dandy one with the garish clothing.

Intrigued by this post, I downloaded the free sample, but I don’t think I’ll buy the whole but. While the style isn’t bad at all, I found the plot construction contrived at best. The heroine is put in an unbearable position just to be saved by the hero. The villain has plotted his trick all along just to place again the heroine in the hero’s grasp. Hardly believable, and I felt really sorry for a female character who is once again a damsel in distress.
