Anna Richland forwarded me a link to a long video of Rube Goldberg machines built for a Japanese children’s show called Pythagoras Switch. I didn’t want to embed an 18 minute video – that’s like asking you to get caught at work not working, right? But they are SO COOL.
So here’s a short one:
And, should you feel like feeding your eyes and brain clever visual candy, here’s the link from Anna, which showcases many of the Rube Goldbergs built for the show.
Here is a neat thing I learned when researching the show: according to Wikipedia (look, it’s on the internet so it is absolutely not ever wrong, right?) “Pythagorean Devices are known in the US as “Rube Goldberg machines“, or in Great Britain as “Heath Robinson” contraptions.”
This is just begging for a romance trilogy, right? Three guys with a lot of random stuff in their garage building contraptions – you even have the names! Rube, Heath and Pythagoras! It practically writes itself!
I hope your weekend is clever and neat with just enough goofy and fun to make everything interesting.
This is my favorite a six minute machine showcasing places around Yokohama to make a bowl of ramen. http://youtu.be/1kvdq8cRNBM
brilliant, right?!!?! they also did this ‘algorithm dance’ which went viral a few years ago…http://youtu.be/M8xtOinmByo pardon me while i go down the rabbit hole…
I really liked the first video — especially when it shows something “dead tree” books doing something you can’t do with an electronic reader!
