  • Back to You

Back to You by Jessica Scott

Back to You by Jessica Scott is $1.99 at most vendors! The only exception is All Romance, where it’s a dollar more. Looking at some reviews, this is a deeply emotional contemporary romance between two people trying to save their marriage following the husband’s return from war. It’s the second book in the Coming Home series and has a 4.3-star rating on GR.

He’s in for the fight of his life . . .

Army captain Trent Davila loved his wife, Laura, and their two beautiful children. But when he almost lost his life in combat, something inside him died. He couldn’t explain the emptiness he felt or bridge the growing distance between him and his family-so he deployed again. And again. And again…until his marriage reached its breaking point. Now, with everything on the line, Trent has one last chance to prove to his wife that he can be the man she needs …if she’ll have him

. . . to win back his only love.

Laura is blindsided when Trent returns home. Time and again, he chose his men over his family, and she’s just beginning to put the pieces of her shattered heart back together. But when Trent faces a court martial on false charges, only Laura can save him. What begins as an act of kindness to protect his career inflames a desire she thought long buried-and a love that won’t be denied. But can she trust that this time he’s back to stay?

  • Take a Chance on Me

Take a Chance on Me by Jennifer Dawson

Take a Chance on Me by Jennifer Dawson is $1.99! This is a contemporary romance with a runaway bride and a bartender. It’s also the first book in the Something New series. Readers thought this was a great first book in a new series, though some found the story to be a little too cute. Anyone taking a chance on this book? (Harhar, see what I did there?)

    Gorgeous runaway brides. . .

When Maddie Donovan runs out on her high school sweetheart moments before walking down the aisle, she ends up at a bar in the small town of Revival, Illinois, with only the wedding dress on her back, fifty dollars to her name, and her “good girl” reputation in tatters. Not ready to return to Chicago and face the music, she accepts hot bartender Mitch Riley’s offer to stay at his place. But sharing such close quarters is driving Maddie insane with desire.

Always drink for free. . .

Mitch thinks he’s seen it all–until Maddie strides into his bar in full wedding attire and downs three shots of whiskey. Though the gorgeous knockout seems tough as nails, he also senses her vulnerability. With a troubled past of his own, Mitch has no interest in ties of any kind–yet he can’t help falling for Maddie. Now he’s got to find a way to convince her to give love a second chance.

  • Worth the Fall

Worth the Fall by Claudia Connor

Worth the Fall by Claudia Connor is $2.99! I could be going crazy, but I believe I saw this title floating around in the comments on some of our “Whatcha Reading?” threads. Another military themed romance, our Navy SEAL hero meets our single mother heroine while on a week-long  vacation. After reading some of the GR reviews, it also seems that the heroine is pregnant with her fifth child. So do with that what you will.  Some readers found the heroine a little exhausting, but many found the story to be a pleasant surprise. It has a 4.2-star rating on GR and is the first book in the McKinney Brothers series.

They meet on a beach. . . . Abby Davis isn’t wearing a skimpy bikini or sipping umbrella drinks, not when she’s busy chasing around four little ones. And Matt McKinney isn’t looking for fun—he’s a Navy SEAL, a grown man with a long list of missions . . . and fallen brothers.

They only have a week. . . . Abby has brought her children to this beach to start over, to give them the enjoyable memories they deserve. Matt’s been sidelined by a combat injury, and haunted by the best friend he lost and the promise he made: to remain a SEAL—focused and dedicated. This leaves no time for what he’s always wanted: a family.

But a week is all it takes. . . . Matt opens her heart while Abby soothes his soul. And though they plan to say good-bye when the week is over, something magical happens on that beach, something neither can forget. Something utterly, completely worth falling for.

  • The Sinners on Tour Boxed Set

The Sinners on Tour Boxed Set by Olivia Cunning

The Sinners of Tour Boxed Set by Olivia Cunning is currently $7.99 on Amazon and Barnes & Noble. These five full-length books are more erotic romance than contemporary and feature plenty of rock stars, if that happens to trip your catnip wire. So that’s five books for less than $2 a piece. I’ve seen this series come up quite a bit, but I’ve never been able to pull the one-click trigger just yet. Any members of the Bitchery care to weight in? The bundle also has a 4.5-star rating on GR.

USA Today and NYT bestseller Olivia Cunning has delighted readers with her wildly popular Sinners on Tour series, the perfect blend of steamy sex, heartwarming romance, and wicked humor.

About the Books in This Bundle

    1. Backstage Pass
It’s been months since lead guitarist Brian Sinclair composed anything. But when sexy psychology professor Myrna Evans comes on tour to study groupie mentality, Brian finds the spark he needs to reignite his musical genius. When lust turns to love, can Brian convince Myrna that what they have is more than just a fling?

    2. Rock Hard
The stage is the only place lead singer Sed Lionheart feels any passion since he lost Jessica, the law student who broke off their engagement. But trapped together on the tour bus for the summer, Sed and Jessica will rediscover their penchant for public encounters and the millions of steamy reasons they never should have called it quits…

    3. Double Time
On the rebound from the tumult of his bisexual lifestyle, rhythm guitarist Trey Mills falls for sizzling new guitar sensation Reagan Elliot. Ecstatic to be on tour learning the ropes with Trey’s band, Reagan finds she craves Trey just as much as the spotlight. When Reagan’s ex, Ethan, returns, Trey’s secret desires flare, and Reagan agrees to a hot new world of sexual experience with the two men she loves the most.

    4. Hot Ticket
Struggling with his past, bassist Jace Seymour seeks dominatrix Aggie to help placate his inner turmoil. Aggie doesn’t have much use for men, but Jace quickly steals her heart. When circumstances threaten Jace’s position in Sinners, Aggie must help him regain his rightful place while showing him that time and love can heal all wounds.

    5. Wicked Beat
When Rebekah Blake becomes the Sinners’ new soundboard operator, she can’t wait to seduce guitarist Trey. Instead she catches the eye of red-hot drummer Eric Sticks, who sets out to prove that he is the only man who can give her everything her dirty mind desires…

  1. Avengela says:

I enjoyed all of The Sinners on Tour books, although the last one seemed to wave a magic wand and declare the threesome in love for ever and ever without having them work for it. However, there is an issue that continues to bother me to is day. While reading the first book I noticed more than a few parallels to the band DETHKLOK from Metalocalypse. Has anyone read these books and thought the same thing? I just want to know if I’m the only one to see the similarities.

  2. I loved Worth The Fall so much I wrote a review-ish blog post about it on my site, which I rarely do. (I don’t have the writing-reviews gene.) I definitely recommend it.

  3. Amanda says:

I loved Metalocalypse, but I don’t know how I feel about heavy metal heroes.

  4. Avengela says:

I understand your reluctance, Amanda. When I started replacing Sed’s dialogue with Skwisgaar’s, things got weird. At that point I couldn’t stop reading because it was just too bizarre.

  5. bev says:

I really enjoyed Worth the Fall.
Once I started I didn’t want to put it down. I’m hoping that I found a new author.

  6. LaineyT says:

I’m a fan of the Sinners on Tour series as well. I like that there’s always a good blend of internal and external conflict in her books.

And just a quick survey: am i the only one who always seems to get this author’s name wrong? I always seems to Freudian slip when I’m doing a search and type Cumming instead of Cunning. It is erotica after all. (Honest, I’m not a 12 year old boy!)

  7. SB Sarah says:

No, you’re not alone in that one. I have made that mistake at least twice.

  8. Meredith says:

@LaineyT: ha! I always say that (based on my sense of humor and taste in movies/TV) I must be a 12 year old boy at heart!

  9. LauraL says:

I also could not put down Worth the Fall once I started reading. The book immediately went into the Keepers file on my Kindle. We have to wait until January for another book from Claudia Connor and it is already on my wish list.

Back to You by Jessica Scott made me laugh and cry, like all her books do. I am looking forward to reading this year’s Christmas novella.

  10. Christy says:

I have read Worth the Fall by Claudia Connor and I absolutely LOVED this book. The thing about the story is that it is very possible and realistic, unlike some of the love stories out there that are so far fetched it isn’t funny!!! I gave Worth the Fall a 5-star review and would definitely recommend it to others.

  11. Karie Deegan says:

Worth the Fall was gifted to me by a friend. I have to say it has made my list of top read books for the year. It may appear outwardly as just another armed forces book, but the story goes so much further than that. I have recommended this book to everyone who asks me for an idea. Definitely worth a read.

  12. Deborah says:

I absolutely loved Worth the Fall. I love when I find a book where I feel like I can really believe that the situation could happen. I’m all for escapism in my reading, but I get sucked in a whole lot more when I can truly feel for the characters. This was one of those books. Yes, Abby is pregnant when Matt meets her, but he doesn’t close the door on getting to know her because of it. Maybe you shouldn’t close the door on reading the book because of it either.

  13. Kelly says:

I enjoyed “Back to You” when I read it. I went on a bit of a glom and read the entire series, and while there were things that I didn’t like, for the most part I enjoyed the characters and also how real the author kept things on the military front. These are not the Navy SEAL heroes you so often see who never grapple with what they do for a living, or the friends they’ve lost, or their battle wounds, or how hard it is to reintegrate into normal society from a war zone. All of that is addressed in this series—even addiction and suicide amongst soldiers is addressed, which I thought was pretty brave of the author (because it’s a problem, but one we don’t like to talk about as a society). In this particular book, the husband has some serious survivors guilt (he technically died and was resuscitated), and is way over his head with his family—he’s been deployed so much he barely knows his own children, and their loudness and unpredictability set off bad episodes for him (PTSD related), and he’s forgotten how to relate to his wife. The book is about him making the effort—everything he can do—to make it up to his family, but also to make his family happy, even if that ultimately means his absence. In my review I said, “This is a story of forgiveness, of both ones self and of others; it is a story of survival and survivor’s guilt; it is a story of how war changes a person; and it is a story about second chances. Trent and Laura’s story was heartbreaking to read, mostly because it is so very realistic. Being a member of the military or a spouse has to be one of the hardest things one can do in life—death is always lurking in a war zone, and the strength it must take to say goodbye to someone you love knowing they may not come home…well, this book does a good job of portraying the situation, in my opinion.” I definitely recommend it!

  14. Crystal B says:

I absolutely loved Worth The Fall. I know Claudia has heard me say it a few times now but I bought the book on an impulse after seeing a few people rave over it. It was the very best impulse book buy for me of the year!!! So excited to get to know the McKinney family and Claudia throughout this series. Worth The Fall was fantastic!
