Books On Sale

Books on Sale: Three Lisa Kleypas Historicals at $2.99

NB: I’m including Audible links by reader request, though the price varies depending on whether you’ve bought the Kindle version, if you’re an Audible member, etc. So I can’t always guarantee the sale price is valid, but since buying the digital often drops the price of the audiobook there, I wanted to include it.

  • Secrets of a Summer Night

Secrets of a Summer Night by Lisa Kleypas

RECOMMENDED: Secrets of a Summer Night by Lisa Kleypas is $2.99. Hold onto your wallets – that’s a terrific price for a Kleypas book (and there are two more) (I’m sorry) (I bought them, too).

This is book 1 in the Wallflowers series, and is a class boundaries romance (a specialty of Kleypas’ if you’ve read her backlist). One thing I loved about this book was that the heroine, Annabelle, has to overcome her own prejudices and it’s not so easy for her.

Four young ladies enter London society with one common goal: they must use their feminine wit and wiles to find a husband. So a daring husband-hunting scheme is born.

Annabelle Peyton, determined to save her family from disaster, decides to use her beauty and wit to tempt a suitable nobleman into making an offer of marriage. But Annabelle’s most intriguing—and persistent—admirer, wealthy, powerful Simon Hunt, has made it clear that while he will introduce her to irresistible pleasure he will not offer marriage. Annabelle is determined to resist his unthinkable proposition . . . but it is impossible in the face of such skillful seduction.

Her friends, looking to help, conspire to entice a more suitable gentleman to offer for Annabelle, for only then will she be safe from Simon—and her own longings. But on one summer night, Annabelle succumbs to Simon’s passionate embrace and tempting kisses . . . and she discovers that love is the most dangerous game of all.

  • Again the Magic

Again the Magic by Lisa Kleypas

Again the Magic by Lisa Kleypas is $2.99. This is book .5 in the Wallflowers series – and it’s not a novella, so don’t worry. The characters in this book appear in the rest of the series, and again, this is a class boundaries romance- with friends to lovers thrown in, too. Oh, my catnip. Hello, there.

    She gave him her innocence…

Lady Aline Marsden was brought up for one reason: to make an advantageous marriage to a member of her own class. Instead, she willingly gave her innocence to John McKenna, a servant on her father’s estate. Their passionate transgression was unforgivable—John was sent away, and Aline was left to live in the countryside…an exile from London society…

    …and he took her love.

Now McKenna has made his fortune, and he has returned—more boldly handsome and more mesmerizing than before. His ruthless plan is to take revenge on the woman who shattered his dreams of love. But the magic between them burns as bright as ever. And now he must decide whether to let vengeance take its toll…or risk everything for his first, and only, love.

  • Someone to Watch Over Me by Lisa Kleypas is $2.99. This is an amnesia story – and it’s terrific. No, really. The hero is a Bow Street investigator, and the heroine is a courtesan who snubbed him – and now doesn’t remember him or anything else. This is also book 1 in the Bow Street Runners series, and it has a 3.8-star average. Have you read this one?

For some reason, Amazon has the latest Kristan Higgans – In Your Dreams (The Blue Heron Series Book 4) – on sale for Kindle at $2.99.

  2. Lindsayb says:

Is it terrible that I can’t remember if I’ve read the first Wallflowers book? I might have to take a trip to the library. I haven’t read the second book- so that is a definite buy!

  3. Dot says:

These 3 books are not on sale at all at Kobo. 🙁

  4. SB Sarah says:

@Dot – BUGGER. I’m sorry. It must be BN/AMZ only. My apologies.

  5. jimthered says:

For what it’s worth, SOMEONE TO WATCH OVER ME combines *two* frequent plot devices found in romance novels (and soap operas, for that matter). I won’t say what they are for fear of spoiling the novel for those who haven’t read it; but don’t be surprised if you think “Kleypas tossed this *and* that into one book!”

  6. Dot says:

@SB Sarah: Not to worry! I am a recent convert to ebooks, and my reading device is a Kobo tablet, so use Kobo for any purchases. Have been keeping an eye on LK books at Kobo, but am too cheap 🙂 to pay full price. I particularly love Devil in Winter and Blue-Eyed Devil.

  7. Nikki H says:

Someone to Watch Over Me is my favorite LK book, so I will definitely be clicking on it! Thanks so much for the heads-up!

  8. Kelly S. says:

Again the Magic’s description has me hating the hero. He blames her?!? WTF dude? In a time when women had no rights, no say, and her only true possession is her virginity, the fact she gave it to you, means she risked everything and lost. And you should know this, but instead you blame her. Idiot! Asshat! Obviously, not my nip.

  9. Nancy says:

@Kelly S. The description is misleading. (Mild spoilers for the first 30 pages) The heroine intentionally breaks the hero’s heart and sends him away. In romancelandia, she has a good reason, but he also has every right to be heartbroken and upset.

Ironically, I’m not a fan of this book and it’s not because of the hero, but the heroine. I usually love difficult heroines but I could not stand her. She was so self-centered and completely ruled by her fear, while the hero kept baring his soul to her. However, it probably has my favorite secondary romance. I ended up disliking the main couple and wishing the book was actually about the much sweeter and more complicated secondary couple.

  10. Antoinette says:

Again the Magic is one of my favorite Kleypas’.

  11. Antoinette says:

Has anyone read The Littlest Cowboy by Maggie Shayne? It’s free right now on Amazon and the start of a series: http://www.amazon.com/Littlest-Cowboy-Texas-Brand-Series-ebook/dp/B00M2EP5ZW

I haven’t read anything by her but I know I’ve seen her name around the bitchery.

  12. Taffygrrl says:

The books ARE on sale on Kobo, but they’re $5.99 instead of $2.99. Her other books are $7.99.

  13. azteclady says:

    Antoinette, it’s a cute story.
