Blue Beats and Laura Kinsale Audiobooks – The Winners!

Lessons in French Audiobook I had to delay the announcement of our winner for the recent Blue Beats and Audiobooks giveaway because… well, the grand prize winner has some audio deliciousness to enjoy.

The winner of of the contest was Katie, who said she’d be running nowhere on her treadmill while listening to audiobooks if she won.

Katie, Nick Boulton has a message for you:

Congrats, Katie!

The runners up are:

  • Jikie
  • Natalie H.
  • Melissa
  • Maya S.

You’ve each won a set of download codes good for Laura Kinsale audiobooks from Audible.com.

Many thanks to Laura Kinsale for the giveaway and to Nicholas Boulton for the audio greetings. My apologies for the delay – and congratulations to the winners!

    Hamsters.  *snort*

  2. DonnaMarie says:

So aside from being a very lucky woman are you, um, a hamster?

  3. Anyone else want to listen to some more Nicholas Boulton after that message? I think I’ll listen to My Sweet Folly next.

Congrats to the winners, especially the suspected hamster! *snicker*

  4. Nick is not only playing his role (Duke of Suffolk) in both Wolf Hall and Bring Up the Bodies in London, he’s covering for the Duke of Norfolk who is “indisposed.”

He described himself as a headless chicken. But perhaps the image of a hamster on a wheel has possessed his mind.

Congratulations to the winners!  And indeed, hamster or even headless, his voice is a treat to listen to.  Hope you all enjoy.

    Laura

  5. PS- I must say, I love the way an Englishman says, “That would silly.”

  6. Katie Ann says:

As the lucky winner herself, I am in fact not a hamster but have been giddy all day about winning this!  That little message from Mr. Boulton would’ve inspired me to buy anything he read regardless of winning.

I’ve actually gotten really into audiobooks in the last month or so, having found them to be fantastic on long bike rides.  (On paved trails, I wouldn’t ever distract myself that much riding on roads.)  It’s a fun motivator to only allow myself to listen to a book when I’m riding, not just sitting around the house, and encourages me to do a few more miles if I’m getting to the good part in a story.  When it starts getting colder I’ll be moving from riding my bike outside to running on the treadmill in the gym, and that’ll take even more motivation.  😀

So thanks to Laura Kinsale (who is featured heavily on my keeper shelf, and this will prevent me from nagging my sister to give me back my copy of “Flowers from the Storm” for a little longer) and to Sarah for this amazing giveaway!

  7. Natalie says:

I’m thrilled to be a runner-up! Thank you to everyone involved. I start painting my kitchen cabinets and floor next week, and I’ll need a good book-on-tape to keep me motivated 🙂

  8. Danker says:

Drat. Didn’t notice the comp. Wouldn’t have won anyway, because I don’t have a talent for witty brevity – and anyone with a dedication to a treadmill deserves a treat, so well done Katie Ann.
Its easy to be congratulatory, as I’m not into audiobooks. Maybe if I was still commuting, but not now. They take up TOO much time and I don’t want someone else’s voice in the way. Even though that Boulton chappie sounds interesting.
I’ve never read a Kinsale I didn’t love but can’t find Lessons in French in ebook anywhere. I’m keen to buy it ASAP. Any helpful hints would be appreciated.

  9. Melissa says:

Hey, am I the runner up Melissa?! Yippy or congrats to the other Melissa whichever!

  10. Oh wow. That message. I want to be named Katie just so I can pretend he’s talking to me.

FYI the lovely Prince Harry turns 30 on Sept 15 – so I don’t feel like such a cougar when I scroll through all the retrospective slideshows. Now I have Nick Boulton’s voice to narrate them in my head.
