Books on Sale: Series Sales and Military Heroes

Book Bad Girls Don't Marry Marines

Bad Girls Don't Marry Marines by Codi Gary is 99c! This is the third book in Gary's Rock Canyon Romance series, and, if you're looking to catch up, the previous two books,  Things Good Girls Don't Do ( A | BN | K ) and Good Girls Don't Dare Rock Stars ( A | BN | K ),  are on sale for $1.99 each! The heroine of this book endured a very public, messy divorce, and is the daughter of a politician who has high expectations of her, and manipulates her for his own purposes. The hero and heroine shared a kiss a few years prior to the start of this book, and he's had a thing for her ever since. While it's still a relatively new release, it holds a 4-star rating on GR.

The bad girl who stole his heart …

Valerie Willis has done it all: tattoos, one-night stands, even strip poker. And now she can add getting a messy public divorce to that list. Back in her hometown of Rock Canyon, Val just wants to bury her head and wait for the scandal to pass. But when she suddenly finds herself at a singles' weekend face-to-face with former flame Justin Silverton, hiding from her heart–and the sexy Marine–won't be that simple.

Is just too good to let go …

It's been ten years since Justin kissed Val, but he still remembers the way they just seemed to … fit. Since then he's served his country and helped his father keep their ranch intact, but he's never forgotten Val or her wild ways. So when a twist of fate brings him the chance to chase her across state lines and spend a weekend winning her heart, Justin's all in. Because when he sees something he wants, he fights for it. And he's ready to fight for the right to call this bad girl his one and only.

Book Dylan's Redemption

Dylan's Redemption by Jennifer Ryan is $2.99! With the first two books in the McBrides series on sale at the same price, The Return of Brody McBride ( A | BN | K ) and Falling for Owen ( A | BN | K ), you can pick up all three books for less than $10. Our hero is the town sheriff who believed the heroine was dead, until she shows up in town almost a decade later. Since it was released only a couple weeks ago, reviews are still coming in, but most seem to be favorable. Additionally, this can be read as a standalone. Any fans of the series?

Jessie Thompson had one hell of a week. Dylan McBride, the boy she loved, skipped town without a word. Then her drunk of a father tried to kill her, and she fled Fallbrook, vowing never to return.

Eight years later, her father is dead, and Jessie reluctantly goes home—only to come face-to-face with the man who shattered her heart. A man who, for nearly a decade, believed she was dead.

Dylan accepted the position as sheriff of Fallbrook looking for a fresh start and a chance to uncover the truth about Jessie's disappearance. He knew he'd have to face a few ghosts … he just never thought one would be Jessie, all grown up, stunning … and alive.

The pull between them is instant, but Dylan's heart has already mourned Jessie, and she has secrets she can never share. Can they escape the darkness of their past for a chance at a bright future together?

Book Burning Up

Burning Up by Anne Marsh is 99c! This is the first book in Marsh's Smoke Jumpers series and probably fits more in line with romantic suspense than contemporary. The hero is a former Marine who now operates as a smoke jumper, a firefighter who parachutes into the middle of wildfires. Coincidentally, our heroine is being plagued by an arsonist stalker. Readers found that the characters and action weren't as engaging as the description, but the series definitely improves with each book. Has anyone read this one?

It takes a special kind of hero to be a smoke jumper. To take the greatest risks. To live or die in the raging heat of the moment. And it takes a special kind of woman to love him…

Where There's Smoke…

For Jack Donovan, smoke jumping is a way of life. He lives for the adrenaline rush–the thrill of flying over the burning California hills, the intensity of diving straight into the inferno, the glory of taming the forces of nature. Love is a distant ember compared to the feeling he gets fighting fires–until an emergency call from his hometown brings him face to face with the one woman he can't forget…

…There's Fire

Lily never got over the handsome rogue who once kissed her senseless–and then left. She vowed she was done with love-'em-and-leave-'em men and small town life. Until a series of malicious fires set by a stalker has her running home to hide. Now, their summer is heating up as Jack fights to save her from the stalker's fiery threats and to convince her to give the passion between them a second chance.

Book Broslin Creek Boxed Set

The Broslin Creek Boxed Set by Dana Marton is 99c! Earlier this month, this boxed set was around $5. Now it's even cheaper! This set includes the first three books in her romantic suspense Broslin Creek series. All three books feature law enforcement and veteran heroes and I know the bitchery loves a man in uniform. With over 3.8-star ratings on GR, readers praised Marton for her amazing blend of action and romance, but found some of the HEAs a little lackluster.

Book 1: Deathwatch

As the only person who can identify the most notorious hit man in the country, Kat Bridges is running for her life.

Murphy Dolan is in the Army Reserves, returning from his 2nd tour of duty, only to find a stranger hiding in his house. She's scared spitless. He's completely burned-out on violence. Neither of them has any trust left to give.

If the best of the FBI couldn't protect her from the country’s most notorious assassin, does a burned-out small town cop have a prayer?

Book 2: Deathscape

After a near-death experience, artist Ashley Price is compelled to paint visions of the dead, and fears she's gone crazy. Then she paints a man buried alive and, recognizing the surroundings, she rushes to save him.

Instead of being grateful to her for rescuing him, Detective Jack Sullivan accuses her of being in league with a serial killer. He swears he will put her behind bars. Except, the more time he spends with her, the more he falls under her spell. Can he trust her, or is he walking into another deadly trap?

Book 3: Deathtrap

She'd been “the sick girl” for most of her life. She refused to go straight to “the weird girl”. Heart-transplant recipient Sophie Curtis has been in her own antiseptic bubble for so long, she just might not be able to venture out into the real world again. Her spooky body memories are scary enough, but then she finds herself in the cross hairs of a killer.

“Love was blind, people said. But lust was blind, deaf and reckless.” Ethan Bing hadn't been a great romantic before he became a cop. Whatever shred of optimism he had left after becoming Broslin Chief of Police had been seared out of him by the unsolved murder of his wife two years before. A new case brings the killer within reach just as Sophie pops into his life. She gets through his defenses like no other before, but soon it becomes clear that she's been selected as the killer's next victim.

Dana Marton’s books are completely outside my usual reading…but 99 cents for three?  I bought the boxed set, read two yesterday evening into last night, and had to give myself a serious talk about the wisdom of starting the third at 12:15 a.m.

I tried reading two of Jennifer Ryan’s books but they were DNF. I thought the writing was horrible and just not my cup of tea.
