Our RITA® Reader Challenge 2014 is underway! We’ve received some great reviews so far. Keep ‘em coming!
We’re not really strict when it comes to the deadlines, so if you’re struggling to finish a terribad book by the posted date, don’t stress too much. Submit them when you can – but please let us know if you can't finish a book or if you can't hit the deadline.
We’ve also had a couple instances where my email has been eating things, so if you submitted your review and haven’t heard back from me, please send it again! I don’t want to miss anything!
Here is a refresher on the basics:
There are 9 different reading deadlines, spanning every ten days. For example, the first reading deadline consists of the Best First Book, Erotica, and Inspirational categories.
We’re limiting the reviews to 2-3 per book to help keep from overflooding the site. These reviews will be posted throughout the week, leading up to the next deadline.
You can sign up for more than one book, though of course, sharing is caring!
Rules:
You can sign up here for your book!
In the sign-up column, simply list the name you want to be known as when posting the review. Please be respectful of those who’ve signed up before you.
The deadline is when readers should submit their reviews. Send them to: amanda@smartbitchestrashybooks.com
Reviews will be proofread before posting. If there are any serious changes or clarifications, we’ll let you know! (But I doubt that’ll happen because everyone is AH-MAH-ZING!)
Names italicized on the doc designated submitted reviews. If you've emailed a review, but your name is still in regular script, let us know!
Amanda,
I just sent in my first review & cc-ed Sarah. I realize that this has to be pretty labor intensive for you guys. How soon should we expect to hear that a review has been received? Ball park? Also, if it gets eaten the first time, is there anything we can do to prevent it happening a second time?
I really enjoy having this opportunity and I enjoy reading the review. Thanks.
Hey Pam! Attachment received!
If you think your email may have gone astray (or awry or wherever email goes) please resend it to me at sarahwendell AT gee, mail? Dot! Coooooom!
(Like that would fool any spammers, right? Ha.)
I am going to have strong words with the server now.
What Sarah said. I’m pretty much attached to my email like a Siamese twin, so if you don’t hear back from me in a day (maximum) that I received it, send it again. Usually, when I ask people to send it twice, there aren’t any issues a second time.
Alternatively, you could just send it to my gmail account – amanda.m.diehl – whichever you’re comfortable with doing.
I hope you got mine, SB Sarah. 🙂
Any chance you can provide the link to last year’s blog post with tips on writing our book reviews?
@Heather S: Sarah’s at RT this week and her email tends to explode when she’s at conferences. So if you don’t hear back from her, feel free to send it on over to me, Heather!
@LaineyT: This one? http://smartbitchestrashybooks.com/blog/writing-reviews-some-guidelines-and-suggestions-there-are-no-absolute-rules
That’s the one! Thanks 😀
Hi Amanda,
Have you gotten anything from me? I think both my review and email may have been waylaid… Will try sending to your personal address if you haven’t gotten it yet.
Christine
Really? Because I sent one in on May 1st and was wondering where it was. You must be losing a LOT of reviews.
Sending again.
Hello, I also submitted my review about a week ago but am not in itals! I will try to resend.
