Books on Sale: Nora Roberts’ MacKade Series $1.99 Each!

Book The Return of Rafe MacKade

RECOMMENDED: The MacKade brothers series by Nora Roberts is $1.99 each right now – woo! The Return of Rafe MacKade is the first book in the series, which follows four brothers in Antietam, Maryland. This book was originally published in 1995, and you can see shades of later Roberts books in the setting, the characters, and the hint of ghostly activity on the haunted battlefield. If you like small town contemporary in which the setting is a huge element in the story, you'll like these.

Ten years after disappearing from Antietam, Maryland, the bad boy has returned.

Cleaned up and successful now—and still dangerously good-looking—Rafe MacKade sets the town on fire, and tongues wagging.

Lovely newcomer Regan Jones is intrigued—what kind of man could cause this sort of talk? She’ s just about to find out.…

Book The Pride of Jared MacKade

The Pride of Jared MacKade by Nora Roberts is $1.99, too. Jared is an attorney, and Savannah is a single mom who was kicked out of her home after becoming pregnant as a teenager. She's as fierce and ferocious as a Roberts heroine can be, though a few readers had issues with Jared's attitude about her past. This wasn't my favorite of the series, but I read them all because of the story that's resolved in book 3 (my favorite).

He was a man who stood for something, and never turned his back on a fight.

So when Jared MacKade's work as an attorney brought him up against Savannah Morningstar, her rude behavior and strong defenses weren't going to stop him.

Savannah was the type of woman who defeated odds brutally stacked against her. And once he got to know her, Jared was determined to be the man to stand beside her in the fight.

Book The Heart of Devin MacKade

RECOMMENDED: The Heart of Devin MacKade by Nora Roberts is one of my favorites of hers, out of all 6,734,923×10 books she's published. Cassie, the heroine, is starting her life over after marrying young to a man who beat her. Her story begins in the prior books, and in this one, it's a year or so after her divorce, and she works for Rafe MacKade. Devin MacKade is the sherrif, and he's been in love with Cassie for years and years, though he has no idea. He's one of the strong, steadfast, determined but gentle heroes (catnip!) who doesn't want to approach Cassie in case it's too soon for her to consider another relationship. Like I said, this is one of my favorites.

HE WAS THE ONLY MacKADE WHO MOVED SLOW

Sheriff Devin MacKade had always had his eye on Cassie Connor Dolin. Twelve years of trying to watch over her and her children. Twelve years of being the dependable friend, of seeing his beauty married to a beast. Twelve years of hell.

Now he was going to change, although he knew he'd have to be careful, move slow. But if Cassie came any closer, he might just toss her over his shoulder and carry her off! And he wasn't sure either of them was quite ready for that yet.

But soon….

Book The Fall of Shane MacKade

The Fall of Shane MacKade is $1.99, and is the final book in the series. Note: there is a strong paranormal thread running through the books (which some readers liked and others were not wild about), and in this book, the paranormal elements play a major role in the story. Shane MacKade has a lot of changes and weird things to accept, including his huge attraction to Dr. Rebecca Knight, who is a shy and intelligent researcher doing field work on his land.

Shane MacKade loved women. But he hadn't met one yet who had him whistling the wedding march. Until Dr. Rebecca Knight. Problem was, the pretty lady was too busy hunting legends on the MacKade land to succumb to the MacKade charm.

Maybe it was time to pop the old question. 'Cause this was one woman Shane couldn't live without…

To Dr. Rebecca Knight, everything was explainable. Until she started having some very irrational thoughts about sexy Shane MacKade. She didn't know much about men, but she knew one thing for sure:

Loving Shane was dangerous–and Rebecca didn't like to take chances.

  1. If you’ve listened to the podcasts, SHANE IS THE DAIRY FARMER HERO!!!

The series is wonderful (except that idiot moment Jared had but I skim over it fast) and I highly, highly recommend you grab them all up while you can.

  2. laj says:

I second the motion! A great series….vintage La Nora and much better than the Inn at Boonsboro trilogy.

Rafe’s story is my fav, but I loved Cassie and her kids too….I think I’ll pull my old paperback out and read it this weekend.

  3. SB Sarah says:

    DAIRY FARMER HERO FTW!

  4. Kelly S. says:

Huh, the McCade’s must be wealthy.  They all are wearing shirts.  ;P

  5. DawnG says:

Personally, I loved Savannah’s response to his asshattery. And he does own up to being an idiot.

  6. Megaera says:

These are my favorite Noras, hands-down.  Can’t say I care for the new covers, but since I own the original Special Editions/Intimate Moments versions, I ‘ll just hang onto them.

I have to say that my favorite character in the bunch is Rebecca.  She is just—one of my alltime favorite romance heroines ever.

One thing I love about Nora’s version of paranormal—she writes basically regular people dealing with the supernatural.  Mostly (except for the Morrigan trilogy, which I pretend doesn’t exist), anyway.  Not that I have anything against shapeshifters and other paranormal critters (but not vampires—bloodsucking is *not* sexy), but I like the regular people vs. the supernatural thing so much better.

And she writes great nerdy characters (see Rebecca, above, and Mac in the Three Sisters Island trilogy).

It *would* be nice to have them on my Kindle, too, though.  Hmmm…

  7. Sheila Smith says:

Please where do I purchase these in paperback. Must have them as soon a possible. Going into withdrawal here. Love these men.

  8. Vicki says:

I also count these among my favorite Noras and have read them a number of times over the decades (well, almost 2 decades).

  9. Wait, wait. *double checks records* *triple checks* *checks yet again*

HOW DID I MISS READING THIS SERIES? HOW?

I know I’ve not read EVERY Nora book, especially in the last 3 years, but her older ones, I thought, were all sitting on my bookself. Apparently not; I’ve missed this entire series!

Now my debit card is crying. I hope you are happy!

    Enjoy,
