Book That Scandalous Summer

That Scandalous Summer by Meredith Duran is $1.99 right now. This is book 1 in the Rules for the Reckless series, and it came out in January 2013. The sequel, Fool Me Twice has been available at discounted pre-order (and still is – see below). So you can get books 1 and 2 for about $4.00. And hey, if you want the prequel novella, Your Wicked Heart, that's only .99c ( A | BN | K). Nice!

One Daring Widow

In the social whirl of Regency England, Elizabeth Chudderley is at the top of every guest list, the life of every party, and the belle of every ball. But her friends and admirers would be stunned to know the truth: that the merriest widow in London is also the loneliest. Behind the gaiety and smiles lies a secret longing—for something, or someone, to whisk her away. . . .

One Reluctant Suitor

Raised in scandal, Lord Michael de Grey is convinced that love is a losing gamble—and seduction the only game worth playing. But when duty threatens to trump everything he desires, the only way out is marriage to a woman of his brother’s choosing. Elizabeth Chudderley is delightful, delicious—and distressingly attractive. With such a captivating opponent, Michael isn’t quite sure who is winning the game. How can such passionate players negotiate a marriage of necessity— when their hearts have needs of their own?

Book Fool Me TwiceFool Me Twice by Meredith Duran comes out March 25, 2014, but it's still discounted for pre-order right now at $1.99. This is book 2 in the Rules for the Reckless series. It's been on discounted pre-order for awhile and now book 1 (above) is also on sale. Feel like grabbing the first three stories in a series? Here's your chance!

Sensible and lonely, Olivia Mather survives by her wits—and her strict policy of avoiding trouble. But when she realizes that the Duke of Marwick might hold the secrets of her family’s past, she does the unthinkable, infiltrating his household as a maid. She’ll clean his study and rifle through his papers looking for information.

Alastair de Grey has a single reason to live: vengeance. More beautiful than Lucifer, twice as feared, and thrice as cunning, he’ll use any weapon to punish those who fooled and betrayed him—even an impertinent maid who doesn’t know her place. But the more fascinated he becomes with the uppity redhead, the more dangerous his carefully designed plot becomes. For the one contingency he forgot to plan for was falling in love…and he cannot survive being fooled again.

Book Secrets for Seducinga Royal Bodyguard

Secrets for Seducing a Royal Bodyguard by Vanessa Kelly is $1.99. This is book 1 in the Renegade Royals series, and I'm going out on a limb and guessing it's about seduction and also bodyguards. It has a 3.7 star average, and features spies and adventure and illegitimate sons of royalty. Some readers loved it, though others found it predictable with caricature villainy and too-familiar heroine and hero tropes.

In this witty, sensual new series, Vanessa Kelly introduces the Renegade Royals, illegitimate sons of the Royal Princes who are finding their rightful places in society…

Accomplished spy Aden St. George prefers to stay away from the frivolous ton, especially after the way his mother was used by the Prince Regent. But his latest mission compels him to guard unconventional, vibrant Lady Vivien Shaw. Rescuing her from kidnappers was easy. Resisting her beauty is not. Duty demands he keep an eye on her—and naturally, his lips soon follow. For someone who views entanglements as a weakness, this is pure, delicious folly…

Though grateful for Aden’s help, Vivien has secrets she must keep hidden. Yet with her abductors still at large, she needs Aden’s protection almost as much as she craves his touch.

Book A Most Devilish Rogue

A Most Devilish Rogue by Ashlyn Macnamara is .99c right now. This story features a ruined woman with a son, and a “mere mister” hero who comes to her rescue. This one also has mixed reviews: some readers liked the story and the characters, while others felt it was rote and weighed down by too many familiar historical romance tropes.

Also, my good sir, the gentleman from London's Last True Scoundrel would like a word with you about your pants.

Fans who adore Julia Quinn, Eloisa James, and Sabrina Jeffries will savor Ashlyn Macnamara’s sensual new novel, which proves that two hearts are better than one.

Years ago, when Isabelle Mears was still a young miss too infatuated to know better, she surrendered her innocence to a dishonorable man. Though ruined and cast out from society, she has worked hard to shelter her illegitimate son, Jack. Having sworn off men in her quiet but dignified life, Isabelle is unprepared for the deep longing that rips through her when a handsome stranger rescues her rambunctious six-year-old from the pounding ocean surf.

George Upperton is a man in trouble with debts, women, and a meddling family. He is, by all accounts, the last gentleman on earth Isabelle should be drawn to. But loneliness is a hard mistress, and caution gives way to desire . . . even though Isabelle is convinced that happiness can’t be found in the arms of such a devilish rogue. Only when Jack is kidnapped does Isabelle discover the true depth of George’s devotion—and how far a good man will go to fight for the woman whose love is all that matters.

I’m reading A Most Devilish Rogue at the moment and am enjoying it.

  2. Dread Pirate Rachel says:

I jumped right on That Scandalous Summer, as the chief complaint in the reviews seemed to be that it is character-driven, as opposed to plot-driven. I am more than okay with that.

I’m intrigued by Secrets for Seducing a Royal Bodyguard, because bodyguards! But then again, mustache-twirling. :-/

  3. A rogue in tight pants, going cheaply! Yay! (I admit that Mr. Richland wanders around in his running tights sometimes, and I wish he didn’t smell so bad after running – that’s the part of romances I can’t ever get past, is that all those exercising men smell icky—b/c his running tights are quite flattering. Like that devilish rogue’s pants. Very flattering, those.)

  4. Koozebane says:

RG Alexander just announced that her newly released MY VAMPIRE IDOL (#3 in the Shifting Reality series) is 99 cents at Amazon right now.

  5. Tam says:

I’m guessing that the Scandal of her Summer is her secret pregnancy, ill-concealed by yellow folds, yes?  I used to rest my hand like that on top of my bump.

I don’t know that all exercising men smell icky.  I actually like how my husband smells after he’s been working out, which I’m sure is entirely a pheromonal trap resulting from complementary immune systems, or something of the sort.

  6. DonnaMarie says:

Is it just me, or did that Devilish Rogue wander in off of Joanna Lindsey’s When Passion Rules?

  7. SB Sarah says:

You know, DonnaMarie, it looks like the guy from When Passion Rules kept undressing and did wanter over to Devilish Rogue.

    Book When Passion Rules

  8. SB Sarah says:

Also the guy whom I presume passion rules has a touch of visible panty line!

  9. DonnaMarie says:

No Underalls back in the day.
