Books on Sale: Contemporary Romance - and a Suspense - from Julie James, Adrianne Byrd & Katie Lane

Book Just the Sexiest Man Alive

Just the Sexiest Man Alive by Julie James is $1.99 at Amazon right now. (Pleeeease price matching fairies please visit this one!) I squeaked when I saw this on sale. James writes supremely funny and smart contemporary romances, with heroines and heroes who work in and around the legal world. This was her first book, and it has a 3.9 star average on GR — and James' books only get better from here. Enjoy the start of a reading binge!

Nothing fazes Taylor Donovan. In the courtroom, she never lets the opposition see her sweat. In her personal life, she never lets any man rattle her—not even her cheating ex-fiancé. So when she’s assigned to coach People’s “Sexiest Man Alive” for his next big legal drama, she refuses to fall for the Hollywood heartthrob’s charms. Even if he is the Jason Andrews.

Jason Andrews is used to having women fall at his feet. When Taylor Donovan gives him the cold shoulder, he’s thrown for a loop. She’s unlike any other woman he’s ever met: uninterested in the limelight, seemingly immune to his advances, and shockingly capable of saying no to him. She’s the perfect challenge. And the more she rejects him, the more he begins to realize she may just be his perfect match…

Book Trouble in Texas - a dude with huge ab muscles and his shirt open of course looking down while slighty pulling his belt buckle away from his waist like he's peeking ot see if it's still there

Trouble in Texas by Katie Lane is $1.99. This is a contemporary western romance with a librarian heroine who inherits a brothel. This book has a pile of happy reader reviews, including many who say it's hilarious. Have you read it?

And let's talk about that cover a moment.

Sometimes, meditation guides advise you to pick an image to focus on to quiet your mind. I wonder if what's what he's doing. Or is he peeking to see if it's still there?

Inheriting the most notorious house of ill repute in Texas can spell trouble for a girl's reputation . . . especially when she's Elizabeth Murphy, Bramble's prim and proper librarian. Yet when she discovers a buck-naked cowboy handcuffed to a four-poster bed, she forgets all about the town gossips. Elizabeth has sworn off men, but the stranger's kisses melt her resolve faster than ice cream on a hot summer day.

Waking up in Miss Hattie's Henhouse isn't how Brant Cates reckoned on getting to the bottom of his great-granddaddy's murder. The plan was to solve the centuries-old crime, then get the heck out of Dodge. But after meeting Elizabeth and discovering that the buttoned-up beauty is a sexy siren in disguise, he just can't pull himself away.

Now Brant needs Elizabeth to finally put his past to rest, but is she willing to risk her future on Bramble's newest bad boy?

Book If You Dare

If You Dare by Adrianne Byrd is a contemporary romantic suspense novel. It was originally published in 2004 (and when I saw the original cover, I totally recognized it). It's been re-released by the author and is $2.99 right now.

Once the world's most notorious thief, Damien Black retired at his peak rather than risk taking a wrong step that could cost him his freedom…or his life. Now a seductive proposition is tempting him again–a multi-million dollar heist that would be smooth as black silk…if it wasn't for Angel Lafonte.

The new director at an Atlanta museum, Angel is smart, sophisticated, and a stunning beauty, exciting the daring thief even more than the possibility of a big-money payday. But when the heat reaches sizzling, Damien's going to have to choose between a life of larceny and the passionate lady he's suddenly growing to love.

Sarah – Kobo has the Julie James book for $1.99 if you want it in ePub format.

    Dora says:

I don’t know what it is, but I am a HUGE sucker for romances where one of the main characters is a thief. I think I just like the “Muah ha ha, I am so sneaky, so clever, this heist will set me for life, oh but this dude/dudette is totes awesome, SURE HOPE I DON’T FALL FOR THEM AND MY SECRETS AND PAST DON’T COME BACK TO BITE ME” scenario. I might have to check If You Dare out!

    Darlynne says:

That guy on the TROUBLE IN TEXAS cover is totally looking to see what’s in or crawled down his pants. I thought that even before I read your recap. Love the abs, but the hide-and-go-seek is a little too much.

    Darlynne says:

No, I take that back. The abs are just … is he smuggling wooden shoes in there?

    Heather S says:

Anybody else always look at the “bare chest” covers to see if there’s Hilarious Unintentional Peen? Because I don’t do that… at all… ever…

Man oh man I love the $1.99 price for Julie James……what a gift! :)

    Kelly S. says:

@Darlynne I was distracted by the abs as the first pair looked like they were baby feet pushing their way out of his belly!  A man pregnant! But of course they don’t get the big gut.  Maybe preggers by an alien? Totally different book than described.  I must say the librarian heroine has me more desiring to read the story than the baby foot chested, looking for his peen hero.

    Dora says:

@Sarah Absolutely! I’m going to start it tonight. :) I’ve been working my way through the (unexpectedly excellent) The Last Hour of Gann based on your recommendation and at the 50% mark, I think I need to take a break from it, so this should make for a great evening’s reading!

YES! That is the first thing I do: Whoa. Abs. *sooms in on image* IS THERE UNINTENTIONAL PEENAGE? *fingers crossed*

    @Kelly S:

the first pair looked like they were baby feet pushing their way out of his belly!

Oh. My. God. You are totally right. EEEEEEEEEEK!

I can’t wait to hear what you think – I’m leery of romantic suspense but am very curious about this one. Thank you!

So I bought all these books.  I’m sure Amazon thanks you but my book budget took a hit.

And now it’s going to take a bigger one because I’m pretty sure I’m about to read a lot of Julie James books.  :-)
