Books on Sale: Urban Fantasy from Jennifer Estep and Jocelynn Drake, plus Knitting!

Book By a Thread -a woman standing against a wall with a circular tattoo on her palm

By a Thread by Jennifer Estep is $1.99 right now. This is book #6 in the Gin Blanco series, which is a paranormal urban fantasy about an assassin who controls a set of elements (hence the name of the series, Elemental Assassin). While this is book 6 some reviews state that there's enough recap that you can pick this one up without being too lost – though I understand being a bit wary of starting with #6. Some of the other books in the series have been on sale previously so you might already have them.

The sixth book in the USA TODAY bestselling Elemental Assassin urban fantasy series featuring Gin Blanco, who by day owns a Tennessee BBQ joint, and by night is a tough female assassin known as the Spider.

I never thought I’d need a vacation from being an assassin….

My name is Gin Blanco, and I’m the assassin the Spider. All the Ashland’s lowlifes are gunning for me and trying to make a name for themselves by taking out the Spider. So I think it’s a good idea to get out of Ashland for a while until things cool down.

So I’m headed south to a swanky beach town, along with my baby sister, Bria, for a weekend of fun in the sun. But when an old friend of Bria’s is threatened by a powerful vampire with deadly elemental magic, it looks like I’ll have to dig my silverstone knives out of my suitcase after all.

But this time, not even my own Ice and Stone power may be enough to save me from coming home in a pine box…

Book Dead Man's Deal - Jocelynn Drake

Dead Man's Deal by Jocelynn Drake is .99c as a Kindle Daily Deal today – I am making wishes for price matching, though I don't know how far I'll get. This is urban fantasy as well – you can sort of tell by the back muscles and the tattoo. This is book 2 of Drake's Asylum Tales series set in a tattoo parlor. Angel's Ink has been on sale before as well, so you might already own it.

Dead Man's Deal by Jocelynn Drake continues the dark and dangerous adventures of a magical tattoo artist begun in Angel's Ink.

In a gritty urban fantasy world where elves, faeries, trolls, werewolves, and vampires swim free in a sea of humanity, sometimes you need an edge. Looking for a little love? Need some luck? Desperate for revenge? Gage can give you what you need. The most talented tattoo artist in town, he knows the right symbol and the right mix of ingredients and ink to achieve your heart's desire. One tattoo is all it takes. But remember, everything has its price.

The wizards know Gage is using forbidden magic, and they intend to punish him for his  transgressions. Too bad if innocent humans and monsters—entire cities—get in the way.

They will quell a nascent magical uprising and Gage will be the sacrifice they need. First, though, they have to find him.

Book The Parasol protectorate boxed set

The Parasol Protectorate Boxed Set is all five books in the series, on sale for b$19.99. That's roughly $4 per book. You know, this would make a pretty excellent Valentine's Day gift to someone you really like – or someone who you don't want to see for a good while – because these books, according to many readers, are very addictive.

Alexia Tarabotti is laboring under a great many social tribulations. First, she has no soul. Second, she's a spinster whose father is both Italian and dead. Third, she was rudely attacked by a vampire, breaking all standards of social etiquette. Where to go from there? From bad to worse apparently, for Alexia accidentally kills the vampire — and then the appalling Lord Maccon (loud, messy, gorgeous, and werewolf) is sent by Queen Victoria to investigate.

With unexpected vampires appearing and expected vampires disappearing, everyone seems to believe Alexia responsible. Can she figure out what is actually happening to London's high society? Will her soulless ability to negate supernatural powers prove useful or just plain embarrassing? Finally, who is the real enemy, and do they have treacle tart?

The Parasol Protectorate is a comedy of manners set in Victorian London: full of werewolves, vampires, dirigibles, and tea-drinking.

This bundle includes the whole series: Soulless, Changeless, Blameless, Heartless, and Timeless.

Oh, yes I love that One-Skein Wonders series.  I have two of them, Designer One-Skein Wonders and Sock Yarn One-Skein Wonders.  My sister (who is also one of my housemates) has the recent Lace One-Skein Wonders, and there’s also a new Crochet One-Skein Wonders I need to get.

So many patterns, so little time.

I just have to say that anyone wearing those heals on a rickety plank walk is asking for a broken ankle.  The next book could be Elemental Assassin on Crutches
