For the past few years, Carrie has been writing up her impressions of various movie interpretations, including miniature reviews of all the Prides & Prejudices, a righteous smackdown in Jane Eyre vs. Wuthering Heights, and a round up of all the Jane Eyres. Or Janes Eyres? Anyway. Carrie has been looking for awhile at the intersection of popular culture and classic literature, especially in terms of adaptations, and now, y'll, have a look at THIS :
Y'ALL. THAT IS A BOOK! With Carrie's name on it! And the words she wrote inside it! Pride, Prejudice and Popcorn by Carrie Sessarego is on sale now at Amazon, BN, Sony, Kobo, iBooks.
Beg pardon, this calls for some applause:
And some CONFETTI:
And, some additional Fabio because reasons:
Yay, Carrie!
This is one of two debut titles in the Harlequin POP! series, which are popular culture/nonfiction ebooks about the things we tend to talk about round these here internet parts.
Want to see the other one? OF COURSE YOU DO:
How cool is that? Congratulations to Ms. Rice as well!
To celebrate, I'm giving away 5 sets of both ebooks in the winner's choice of format. Yay! You can enter below. Standard disclaimers apply: open to international residents where permitted by applicable law. Void where prohibited. Must be over 18 and entirely bedecked in sneak preview green to win. If you are selected as a winner, Mr. Movifone will probably not call but I could prank call you with movie reviews at 2am if you wanted. I suspect you do not. Contest ends 8:00 am ET 9 January 2014.
Congratulations to Heidi Rice on her new book – and to Carrie on her very *first* book, and good luck!
Congrats to CarrieS! That is awesome.
Awesome! Congrats to Carrie. I love P&P adaptations, I will watch any of them. Including the Mormon one (yes, it exists).
Awesome! Congrats! 😀 The world needs us to talk more about “Pride and Prejudice”. It just does.
Congrats! I love some of the P&P adaptations (others…not so much), but am always on the look out for more!
Congrats,Carrie-just downloaded the book to my Nook!
Way to go, CarrieS!
Congrats CarrieS! Just downloaded the book!
Way to go!!
Terrific! Sold…on my way to 1-Click!
Hurrah, Carrie! That’s awesome news!
Aww thanks everybody!
Congratulations, Carrie! Well done!
Off topic, that Supernatural gif is my everything.
As someone who barely knows where to put her commas, I bow to you Carrie. Congrats!
Well done, Carrie!
Congratulations Carrie! If I don’t win the giveaway, I will buy it my own self. 😉
@DonnaMarie – I can safely say that proper comma use is not the high point of the book. Thank God for copy editors!
Sweet! And I second @Dread Pirate Rachel on the gif.
Adding my congrats to Carrie for an awesome book. Finished reading it last night and LOVED it!
Anyone who’s ever watched an adaptation of Jane Eyre, P & P or WH and thought WTF? Or, like me, devoured WH at 14 while high on adolescent hormones and has mistakenly thought Heathcliff was a romantic hero ever since NEEDS to read Pride, Prejudice & Popcorn. This book also gives due reverence to Colin Firth’s tousled locks and wet shirt without becoming completely transfixed (no small feat IMHO).
Cheers too, to Smart Bitches for inviting my book to the party, although not sure I should thank you for that gif of Fabio’s glistening man boobs which now has me in its thrall (and not in a good way!)
@Heidi: Congrats on your new book! Fabio is here to congratulate you. Slowly. Over and over. With hair.
Seriously, I think you could meditate to that image. Swing, swing….swing, swing….
I went past meditation hours ago and entered a Fabio fugue state… But at least now I know why men have nipples!
Swing, swing… pucker, pucker…swing, swing
Aww, I guess i saw this too late for the giveaway.
But no matter!!
Congrats Carrie and Heidi, both books look terrific
Congrats on the new releases to Carrie and Heidi! 🙂
I just finished Heidi’s book – so funny and insightful! Her book made me rethink some movies I previously disliked and I was thrilled that she included some of my favorites. I love a read that makes me laugh and think!
Just finished PP&P last night and wrote up a review today:

@LadyT: My first review! Thank you so much!
You’re very welcome,Carrie-just added that Toby Stephens version of Jane Eyre and the Orla Brady WH to my Netflix list with high hopes for both, indeed:)
Congratulations to both authors, and thanks to Carrie S. for taking Pride and Prejudice and Popcorn out of contention for the scariest modernization.
And now, the question to which we all want the answer: why are you (Sarah) up at 2am?
Hey Carrie, thanks so much for the thumbs up! And cheers everyone for the congrats.
BTW went to see 12 Years a Slave on Saturday and was in floods of tears by the end of it… Don’t think I’ve ever seen a more harrowing film – and that includes getting taken to see Death Wish 4 on a first date (needless to say that bozo never got another date!). That’s my tip for the Best Film Oscar this year. Just in case anyone’s planning to bet on it.
