Books on Sale: Two Nora Roberts, And Some Hooking Up Between Friends

Book The Next Always - Nora Roberts

The Next Always by Nora Roberts is currently $3.99 digitally at Amazon. Cue request to the goddesses, though unlikely they'll be able to do much here. This is book 1 of the Inn Boonsboro Trilogy, which came out in 2011. This series is set in Boonsboro, Maryland –site of the actual Inn Boonsboro.

In fact, most of the locations in the book are real. This is a contemporary romance with light mystery and some paranormal elements featuring the Inn ghost (who I also think is real – she woke me up once). Readers didn't universally love this one, but the relationship between the brothers is among the most-cited enjoyable parts. Which makes sense, since Roberts writes great families.

The historic hotel in BoonsBoro, Maryland, has endured war and peace, changing hands, even rumored hauntings. Now it's getting a major facelift from the Montgomery brothers and their eccentric mother. As the architect of the family, Beckett's social life consists mostly of talking shop over pizza and beer. But there's another project he's got his eye on: the girl he's been waiting to kiss since he was fifteen.

Book Dark WitchDark Witch is the newest trilogy by Nora Roberts. About a week after it went on sale, the price just dropped from $9.99/$7.99 to $4.99 at Amazon and BN. $4.99 isn't the most exciting price in the world, but it's a lot better than $9.99, right? This is a brand new trilogy, not a reprint, and is a paranormal – or, as I call them, a ParaNora. The next book in the Cousins O'Dwyer Trilogy, Shadow Spell, comes out in April, and it's been in the Kindle top 100 as a pre-order for weeks. Have you read this one?

With indifferent parents, Iona Sheehan grew up craving devotion and acceptance. From her maternal grandmother, she learned where to find both: a land of lush forests, dazzling lakes, and centuries-old legends.

Ireland.

County Mayo, to be exact. Where her ancestors’ blood and magic have flowed through generations—and where her destiny awaits.

Iona arrives in Ireland with nothing but her Nan’s directions, an unfailingly optimistic attitude, and an innate talent with horses. Not far from the luxurious castle where she is spending a week, she finds her cousins, Branna and Connor O’Dwyer. And since family is family, they invite her into their home and their lives.

When Iona lands a job at the local stables, she meets the owner, Boyle McGrath. Cowboy, pirate, wild tribal horsemen, he’s three of her biggest fantasy weaknesses all in one big, bold package.

Iona realizes that here she can make a home for herself—and live her life as she wants, even if that means falling head over heels for Boyle. But nothing is as it seems. An ancient evil has wound its way around Iona’s family tree and must be defeated. Family and friends will fight with each other and for each other to keep the promise of hope—and love—alive…

Book More Than This - headless dude in a white shirt with biceps

More Than This by Shannon Schroeder is $1.99 right now. This is a contemporary romance that came out last year, and is the first of a series. This book has a 3.8 star average on GR, too.

Can we talk about the cover a second? If this were a piece of art in a museum, would this be called “Headless dude in white shirt with biceps” or is that the genre? Because there are a lot of headless dudes with biceps in romance cover land. UNLESS it is one dude and he's playing a trick on us.

When a lonely teacher teams up with a handsome bartender for some outrageous acts, they both get more than they bargained for…

Learning her ex-husband is going to be a father, Quinn Adams is determined to have a baby of her own—without the partnership of a man. But her sister and friends believe she needs to focus on herself first, and step out of her comfort zone by completing a list of adventures. Challenge number one is to go on five dates within two weeks. After a few disastrous attempts, Quinn’s ready to give up—until sexy bartender Ryan O’Leary offers his assistance.

Ryan has always been the dependable one in his family, often at his expense. But lately, he’s been longing for a life—and a woman—of his own. The woman he has in mind is Quinn. Though it seems all she wants is friendship, Ryan can’t ignore the explosive chemistry he feels between them. In the hopes of becoming closer, Ryan offers to help out with Quinn’s list. But when she asks him for a serious favor, he’s afraid it will jeopardize his chance to become more than friends.

  1. Monique says:

Sarah, I’ve often wondered about that myself, the Headless Wonders… I find it a bit disturbing, in a way. I guess they want us to see the face we want, but still… After all, this guy’s face – from what we see – seems good-looking. And what about when it’s mostly just the chest (hairless, of course) we see; no arms, nothing. Thing is, many are drooling over the covers for Getting Rowdy and Have You Any Rogues (yours truly included) and those guys have faces… I don’t get it either.

WHOA. Have You Any Rogues looks a good bit like David Beckham.

  3. Lindsay says:

I don’t like the mantitty covers, I feel weird about them the same way I feel weird about the headless woman ads for everything from fashion to body wash.

ParaNora! Too funny, Sarah. Thanks for the laugh!
