Books on Sale: Lisa Kleypas Novels, With Price Matching!

Book Someone to Watch Over Me - Lisa Kleypas. Close up of flowers.

Someone to Watch Over Me by Lisa Kleypas is $3.99. This is book 1 of her Bow Street Runners series, and features a courtesan, amnesia, and a hero who is kind of grumpy. Some readers loved him, others found it difficult to forgive him his assumptions about the heroine.

Grant Morgan is one of London's most eligible and unattainable bachelors. He's also a powerful member of the Bow Street Runners, and when he's called to the waterfront late one night to investigate a drowning victim, Grant is stunned to recognize the face of Vivien Rose Duvall, a well-known woman of the night. He's even more startled when he realizes that she's alive.

With no one to care for her, Grant carries Vivien to his home and revives her, only to learn that she is suffering from amnesia.

Vivien hesitantly accepts her handsome rescuer's claim that she is his mistress, despite her misgivings about her true identity. Nevertheless, she can't deny the marks on her throat that prove her near-drowning in the Thames was not an accident, and now she must trust the man who claims her as his paramour, for her life is in danger.

As Grant searches for Vivien's attacker, the two find themselves falling in love, all the while struggling to stay one step ahead of the evil forces that will stop at nothing to see Vivien dead.

Book Lady Sophia's Lover - a man embracing a woman from behind

Lady Sophia's Lover by Lisa Kleypas is $3.79/$3.99. This is the second book in the Bow Street Runner series, and if you haven't read a Lisa Kleypas novel, this is a great opportunity. Her writing is incredible. Truly incredible.

Why is Lady Sophia looking for a lover?
And could she seduce the most marriageable man in London?

Lady Sophia Sydney would do anything to ensnare the unattainable Sir Ross Cannon. Her goal: to ruin his reputation and cause a scandal that would be the talk of all London. So she insinuates herself into his life by gaining his trust and living in his house.

Every morning, her lush presence tempts him beyond all reason . . . the way she bends over the table to serve him the meals she has prepared . . . the way her hands oh, so gently—yet sensuously—brush against him. Every night, she promises with her eyes—and her body—that the hours before dawn could be spent in unbridled passion instead of restless sleep—if only he'd let her share his bed.

She knows he is falling more in love with her each day. But she never counted on falling in love with him. And she never dreamed he might very respectably ask for her hand in marriage.

Book Again the Magic - Lisa Kleypas

Again the Magic is listed as book .5 of the Wallflowers series. Some readers adored the betrayal/redemption storyline, while others were frustrated at the heroine for keeping secrets for so long. The heroes, primary and secondary, in this book are wonderful.

She gave him her innocence…

Lady Aline Marsden was brought up for one reason: to make an advantageous marriage to a member of her own class. Instead, she willingly gave her innocence to John McKenna, a servant on her father's estate. Their passionate transgression was unforgivable—John was sent away, and Aline was left to live in the countryside…an exile from London society…and he took her love.

…and he took her love.

Now McKenna has made his fortune, and he has returned—more boldly handsome and more mesmerizing than before. His ruthless plan is to take revenge on the woman who shattered his dreams of love. But the magic between them burns as bright as ever.

And now he must decide whether to let vengeance take its toll…or risk everything for his first, and only, love.

Book it Happened One Autumn

RECOMMENDED: It Happened One Autumn is book 2 of the Wallflower Quartet. Books 2 and 4 are on sale – but the whole series is wonderful. It's set amid a group of four women who are, obviously, wallflowers, and while the romance is a big part of the story (obviously), their friendship makes the series so special. This series is among my favorites of Kleypas' backlist. The heroine in It Happened One Autumn is outspoken, blunt, and can be frustrating for the hero – but I really liked her.

Four young ladies enter London society with one necessary goal: they must use their feminine wit and wiles to find a husband. So they band together, and a daring husband-hunting scheme is born.

It happened at the ball…

Where beautiful but bold Lillian Bowman quickly learned that her independent American ways weren't entirely “the thing.” And the most disapproving of all was insufferable, snobbish, and impossible Marcus, Lord Westcliff, London's most eligible aristocrat.

It happened in the garden…

When Marcus shockingly—and dangerously—swept her into his arms. Lillian was overcome with a consuming passion for a man she didn't even like. Time stood still; it was as if no one else existed…thank goodness they weren't caught very nearly in the act!

It happened one autumn…

Marcus was a man in charge of his own emotions, a bedrock of stability. But with Lillian, every touch was exquisite torture, every kiss an enticement for more. Yet how could he consider taking a woman so blatantly unsuitable…as his bride?

Book A Scandal in Spring

RECOMMENDED: Scandal in Spring is book 4 of the Wallflower Quartet, as each member of the Wallflower posse (I wish they'd called themselves that!) find husbands and happiness. This is Daisy's story, the younger sister of Lillian from It Happened One Autumn. Daisy is trying to resist an arranged marriage to a man she thinks she does not like – but we know how that will end, right? Of course.

“I want you to do everything you've ever imagined doing with me . . .”

With those scandalous words, Daisy Bowman, the sole “Wallflower” yet to be married, seals her fate with the last man she ever expected to tempt her.
After spending three London seasons searching for a husband, Daisy Bowman's father has told her in no uncertain terms that she must find a husband. Now. And if Daisy can't snare an appropriate suitor, she will marry the man he chooses—the ruthless and aloof Matthew Swift.

Daisy is horrified. A Bowman never admits defeat, and she decides to do whatever it takes to marry someone . . . anyone . . . other than Matthew.

But she doesn't count on Matthew's unexpected charm . . . or the blazing sensuality that soon flares beyond both their control. And Daisy discovers that the man she has always hated just might turn out to be the man of her dreams.

But right at the moment of sweet surrender, a scandalous secret is uncovered . . . one that could destroy both Matthew and a love more passionate and irresistible than Daisy's wildest fantasies.

@MaryAnne Feel the same way! Sometimes Geo-restrictions are our friends.

However, I have warn people against the first one.  I am a LK fan girl but that book inspired me to write my first (and so far only) ranty book review.  Sadly the review is now lost in the internet tubes, but I remember wanting the hero to be real JUST SO I COULD PUNCH HIM IN THE FACE.

I really loved It Happened One Autumn.  It you can get it for 3.99, go for it.

  6. I loved the b-story so much in Again the Magic that it’s the only part I ever re-read. Gideon and Livia should have had their own book.

  7. Kelly says:

My favourite Wallflower novel is book 3 with Evie but I enjoyed that whole series. I didn’t like the Bow Street Runners books as much.

  8. SB Sarah says:

@maryAnne & @OhHellsYeah – this is the first time I’ve ever seen anyone relieved that there are geo-restrictions! LOL
