SEX…

What is it about men anyway? Bad cars, bad jobs, even bad teeth — nothing convinces them that they can't snare a Size Two Babe with a D-cup chest. And after way too many internet dates with men named “luvstick” and “bigdaddy182,” Lucy Rothschild should know.

LIES…

But sitting across from her now is “hardluvnman,” and he seems different — sensitive, honest, and hot! He says he's a plumber, while Lucy claims she's a nurse! She's really a mystery writer, dating online while researching her next book. Hey, everyone lies a little, don't they?

AND ONLINE DATING…

But Quinn's really an undercover cop hunting down a serial killer, and he sees Lucy as his top suspect. And while he could really go for this smart, sexy woman with the killer bod — if that's the only thing “killer” about her — he knows he needs to wine and dine her and discover the truth. Hey, he realizes the dating scene can be deadly — but this is ridiculous!

Book I'm in No Mood for Love - a pair of feet walking away from the reader from under a big long pink skirt, with one shoe off

I'm In No Mood for Love by Rachel Gibson is $3.79/$3.99 right now. This is book 2 in the “Writer Friends” series, and is a childhood-friends-to-adult-lovers story.

What is Clare Wingate doing? One minute she's suffering in a pretty-in-pink gown she'll never wear again, and the next thing she knows it's morning…and she has the nastiest hangover of her life.

To make matters worse, she's wearing nothing but a spritz of Escada and lying next to Sebastian Vaughan…her girlhood crush turned sexy, globe-hopping journalist. Somewhere between the toast and the toss of the bouquet she'd gotten herself into a whole lot of trouble.

Clare had the right to go wild – after all, she'd been knocked off her dyed-to-match shoes after finding her own fiance in a compromising position with the washing machine repairman. Clearly her society wedding is off.

But Sebastian pushed all the wrong buttons – and some of the right ones, too. Clare is in no mood for love – not even for lust – and wants to forget about Sebastian and his six-pack abs ASAP. But he isn't in the mood to go away, and his kiss is impossible to forget.

Book Tangled Up in You a pair of legs with a tie wrapped around one ankle in a short black skirt and a long red coat billowing out behind her

Tangled Up in You by Rachel Gibson is $3.79/3.99. This is book 3 in the series, which is called “Writer Friends” but I think of as “The Legs Series” because of the covers. This book sets up a really difficult conflict between the hero and heroine, with small town gossip and a terrible scandal, and while some readers felt she pulled it off, others felt it wasn't quite resolved the way they wanted. That said, these books are many readers' favorite Gibson novels.

Maddie Dupree isn't in Truly, Idaho, looking for a husband, a boyfriend, or anything in between.

Maddie is determined to uncover the untold story about the town's sordid past–her past. As a child, Maddie lost everything, and now she's back at the scene of the scandal–a local establishment that's always belonged to the Hennessys–determined to uncover the truth, and nothing is going to stand in her way.

Especially not a black-haired, blue-eyed Hennessy.

Everyone in Truly knows that the Hennessy men are irresistible, and the current owner, Mick, is no exception. His late father was a skirt-chasing heartbreaker who ended up causing disaster for two families. So far, Mick's managed to keep the ladies in line, but when he claps eyes on Maddie, with her luscious curves and tempting lips, he can't resist getting tangled up with her.

But Maddie is keeping secrets, not the least of which is her true reason for being in town. And when Mick discovers what`s really going on, there is going to be a whole lot of trouble in Truly.

Book Not Another Bad Date more legs! legs in a man shirt standing on a pile of photographs.

Not Another Bad Date is $3.79/3.99, and is book 4 in the series. This book won the RITA for Best Contemporary in 2009. In this book, the hero's deceased first wife is assigned the responsibility of fixing a mean and crappy thing she did when she was alive – which means bringing the heroine back into his life.

Some were put off by that setup, while others on GR say this is one of their absolute favorite Gibson books.

WHAT DOES A GAL HAVE TO DO TO GET A GOOD DATE IN THIS TOWN?

Adele Harris can't even begin to answer that question. She's had so many lousy dates that she's sure she's cursed. Why else would every man she goes out with suddenly act like he's lost his mind–and his manners? Adele thought life couldn't get any more confusing . . . until she learns the marriage of her seemingly Miss Perfect sister is on the rocks. So she goes back to their hometown to give her a shoulder to cry on, only to run smack into Zach Zemaitis . . . the one who got away.

TEXANS LOVE GOD, FAMILY, AND FOOTBALL, THOUGH NOT ALWAYS IN THAT ORDER

Zach, a former pro star, knows all about football. As for the other two, well, he's doing his best. But when Adele comes charging back into his life–still all lush curves and beautiful, big blue eyes–he wonders if his best is good enough. After all, he did her wrong. Can a woman with her track record ever really believe that he's serious this time . . . or is he destined to be another bad date?

Book Simply Irresistible a pair of legs kicking over a wedding cake

Simply Irresistible is $3.79/3.99, and is book 1 of the Chinooks series, not the Writer Friends series.  I'm including it because it has legs on the cover and also because it is one of the most highly rated Gibson contemporaries, particularly because of the way the heroine changes from the beginning to the end of the book, and the hero as well.

Georgeanne Howard leaves her fiancé at the altar when she realizes she can't marry a man old enough to be her grandfather, no matter how rich he is. Hockey superstar John Kowalsky unknowingly helps her escape, and only when it's too late does he realize that he's absconded with his boss's bride. This bad boy isn't looking to be anybody's savior but his own. Still, a long night stretches ahead of them— night too sultry to resist temptation.

Seven years later, Georgeanne and John meet again. She is on her way to becoming Seattle's domestic darling and he is past his hellraising days. Shocked to learn that he has a daughter, John's determined to be part of her life. Georgeanne has loved John since the moment she jumped into his car, but will he risk the wrath of his boss, and one final chance at glory, to prove that this time his love will be everlasting?

Book True Love and Other Disasters - a pair of legs in a hiked up wedding dress standing over a huge crack in some ice.

True Love and Other Disasters is a Leg Cover, and is book 4 in the Chinooks hockey team series – so it's a sports comedy contemporary. The heroine was tough for some readers to connect with because she's unabashed about having been a trophy wife, while others love this book, and this series.

DISASTER NUMBER ONE: MEN

Hard knocks and hunger taught Faith Duffy not to believe in love. Still, when she married her very wealthy — and very old — husband, she became the perfect wife. And then he went to that big bank in the sky, leaving Faith with lonely nights, a pile of money, and a total mess of a pro hockey team. Heck, Faith doesn't even watch hockey!

DISASTER NUMBER TWO: PASSION

But most of America and half of Canada is watching Ty Savage. His lethal sex appeal and deadly right hook make him the favorite of fans. For most of Ty's life, he's dreamed of winning the Stanley Cup. The last thing he needs is a bimbo messing up his plans.

DISASTER NUMBER THREE: LOVE

Faith loathes Ty on sight, but she can't stop thinking about him all day … and night. Then a moment of temptation ends with Faith in Ty's bed, and she begins to see there's more to him than sex appeal. Ty discovers there's far more to Faith than beauty and billions. But a relationship with Faith is impossible, and falling in love — that would be a disaster.

I really enjoyed True Love and Other Disasters……Faith Duffy reminded me of a SEP heroine. She’s misunderstood and loathed by everyone for being a former stripper and a scheming trophy wife. The romance with Ty is fun and very sexy. Gibson at her best.

  2. Lindsay says:

“I’m including it because it has legs on the cover”

I laughed out loud when I read this. Even when books aren’t my catnip I still love the blurbs you put on them. So many legs!
