Help A Bitch Out - SOLVED!

S-Habo-Day! Is She His Research Dummy?

You did it! We figured this one out! It is a truth universally acknowledged (by me for certain) that the Bitchery pretty much knows everything, and really, it's true. Scroll down to see the solution for this HaBO - and many thanks!

Time for S-Habo-Day, a day set aside to help reunite readers with books when they can't remember the titles, but they can remember the events inside. It's Help a Bitch Out time!

Sandy is looking for a book she read a while back:

I've been wanting to read this book again because the plot keeps on coming back to me randomly when I'm perusing other books. I'm not sure if I have a mix of books or this is one book but please help! It's been this missing gap in my memory that really bugs.

From what I remember: I think the story takes place outside of the US (not sure why I think this). There is a new boss and the protagonist ends up with him but it is kept as a secret (?).

She is an ordinary girl and wonders why he is with her (I know, not that original) I think they work for some large company and the company come out with something new and the boss is on tv (?) announcing something along the lines that this new product is catered to “ordinary woman”. So the protagonist thinks the only reason why the boss was with her was because she was used as marketing research/dummy for the new product. She also thinks this was also the reason why their relationship was a secret, he was not serious and she was just being used. There are bits and parts that I remember but I'm not sure if they are part of the book.

-There is one scene where the company has a employee event – some kind of fair (?). The protagonist's family attends and the boss hangs out with the family for a bit. I'm not sure if the family doesn't know that he is the boss or that they are seeing each other. The family is kept in the dark about something.

– In the end, it's finally revealed why the boss had kept their relationship as a secret and not revealed to the public. Something about the co-owner (?) or someone important related to the boss who has a secret son. Somehow if their relationship was made public, it would put the entire situation in the limelight. I think that is all of it. I've juiced my brain. Please let me know if you guys can help. Thanks so much for spending time to read this.

So you recognize any of these bits or pieces?

Can you keep a secret by sophie kinsella!

  2. Cheryl S says:

I immediately thought of that one too.  At the company picnic ( in England)  the heroine is dressed as Snow White.  Does that ring a bell?

  3. Monica V. says:

Yep!  I thought of Sophie Kinsella’s book too.

I’ve read this one, but I never in a million years would have come up with the title.
I was thinking it was the one with the grandfather and the nutrition bars, which is totally the Kinsella book, but I doubt that my contribution would have helped anyone track it down.
