The book (Harlequin) was about a woman (she is an accountant) who had a weird psychic “gift”: when she married and had sex, she would form a psychic bond (that only death can dissolve) with the man that would allow her to know when he expierienced strong emotions and even “go” to him in her mind and “see” what he is doing.
All the women in her family had this ability and in her mother's case it was disastrous; her parents had a great marriage, but after her father's death her mother remarried, a man (her father's bussiness partner) who cheated on her. Because of her gift, she was able not only to know every time he had sex with another woman, but even “see” him cheat on her, a situation that drove her to suicide.
The heroine has decided never to marry, but he has made some kind of deal with the evil stepfather: she has to marry before she is thirty in order to get her inheritance. So she marries a man, with the understanding that they won't consumate the marriage and will divorce soo afterwards. Of course, they do have sex and the bond is formed and then she has to explain to him what the hell is going on.
I believe it is part of a loosely connected series, because I think I have read another book by the same author, about a heroine (a romance writer) who can “hear” crystals and who is being stalked by her dead best friend's creepy husband. She lives in a small town in New England called Smithvill or Smytheville or something like that and this town is also mentioned in the other book.
Dude, if she could see him cheating, why not go find his cheating ass and beat it with a frozen fish or something? Geolocation is a sadly underutilized psychic gift.

Do you when you read this book? that might help. It doesn’t have to be an exact year. It could be time period or a decade or a couple of years. It would help narrow it down if you read it in the 80’s, that would rule out all the books from the 90’s and beyond. Also sometimes cover details help.
