HaBO: Tornadoes, Trailers, and Secrets on the Mountain

Jennifer is looking for a book she read awhile back: 

 Okay, so I have followed your HABO's for a while now, and there is a book that I cannot find, so could you help this bitch out?

This is what I remember:

The book was published between 1995 and 2001, I think. It was about a reporter who got injured (leg I think) and went home to stay with her parents down south, to recover. I think her name was Claire or something.

Her brother was in politics and was a ginormous asshat.

She gets back together with a friend/boyfriend, who's name I think was Seth or something like that, but an adopted son calls him “Bigger”. He was abused as a child and lived in a trailer until going to live with the girl and her parents and her brothers.

There was some kind of “incident” with attempted rape by the old boyfriend's father, which prompted the parents to send the boy away from the house. A tornado comes up and un-buries the old trailer that abusive father lived in.

The guy has made a name for himself, he owns a company/CEO and flies his own plane. I want to say that there was something about a mountain and a light that acts as a beacon for the reporter and the guy to get back together.

Could you please help me find this book? I've been looking for months, searching the internet and googling, but can't find it. Please help me out so I can find this book…

This sounds like the type of book that would have very angsty faces on the cover, and also some teal, perhaps also fuchsia. Do you recognize this book?
