Books On Sale

Books on Sale: Contemporary, Suspense, 1930s Historical Romance, and Duke Curses!

Book Breaking PointBreaking Point by Pamela Clare is $1.99. Clare is a tremendously talented writer of romantic suspense with a very strong sense of place, who can make a location a character in the book. She's also good at the mystery and the suspense part, which is pretty important. This is the fifth book in her I-Team series, which follows investigative journalists connected to the same newspaper.

While investigating border violence in Ciudad Juárez, Mexico, Denver journalist Natalie Benoit is caught in a bloody ambush and taken captive. Alone in the hands of ruthless killers, she will need every ounce of courage she possesses to survive.

Betrayed by another operative, Deputy U.S. Marshal Zach McBride has endured a week of torture and interrogation at the hands of a bloodthirsty Mexican drug cartel. Ready to give his life if he must, he remains unbroken—until he hears the cries of an American woman.

Although Natalie is only a voice in the darkness of their shared prison, her plight brings renewed strength to Zach's battered body. With her help, he overpowers their captors, and they flee through the desert toward the border, the attraction between them flaring hotter than the Sonoran sun.

But past loss and tragedy leave both of them reluctant to follow their hearts, even when the passion between them reaches its breaking point. Faced with feelings neither expected, they fight to stay ahead of the danger that hunts them as forces more powerful than they can imagine conspire to destroy them both…

Book A Shot of Sultry A Shot of Sultry is today's Kindle Daily Deal, and it's being price matched elsewhere at $1.99. This is the first book in Macy Mackett's Sultry series, and other books in the series have been on sale this year, too. It has a 4.00 average on GR, and readers who liked it enjoyed the humor and the dialogue, plus the small town setting (complete with nosy friends, cute names etc.).

Welcome to Sultry Springs, Texas: where first loves find second chances…

Nine years after June Augustine hightailed it out of Sultry Springs with her heart in pieces, one thing stands between her and her dream of opening an upscale martini bar: a bogus warrant from her tiny Texas hometown. Now she's stuck in the sticks for a month of community service under the supervision of the devilishly sexy Luke Gallagher, her first love and ex-best friend.

If Texas wasn't already hot enough, working side-by-side with June would make any man melt. Luke wants nothing more than to strip her down and throw her in the lake-the same lake where they were found buck naked and guilty as sin all those years ago. In their heads, they're older and wise. But their hearts tell a different story…

 Book Night train to Lisbon

Night Train to Lisbon is .99c, and is a historical fiction/romance set in the 1930s. It has a 3.5-star average, and features wealth and status in a context we don't see as much in historical romance. Plus, three other books by this author are also .99c right now.

Night Train to Lisbon is a sensuous tale of the pursuit of love and passion against all odds, set in the 1930s when the world was on the brink of war and suspicion of loyalty, motivation, and intent — to both country and lover — was at flood tide.

Carson Weatherell is a privileged young American woman traveling in Europe in 1936, courtesy of her aunt and uncle who live abroad and have kindly offered to show her the sights. A bout of illness and self-pity almost send her back to her sheltered Connecticut life, but on an overnight train to Lisbon, she suddenly can't imagine returning home. On that train she meets Alec Breve, a young British scientist traveling with a group of colleagues — and in his company, Carson finds that she's enjoying herself, certainly for the first time since she left New York Harbor, and quite possibly for the first time in her life.

In Lisbon, Carson and Alec begin an intense love affair, but their bliss is threatened when Carson's uncle reveals that Alec might be a spy for Germany. He insists that it is essential that Alec be trapped and brought to justice, and the only person who can deliver an unsuspecting Alec to the proper authorities is Carson. Desperate to believe in her new love — and terrified of discovering she has fallen for a traitor — Carson must choose whether to prove her lover innocent or leave him to face the consequences on his own.

A riveting page-turner, Night Train to Lisbon travels back to the days when war loomed, the Mitford sisters dazzled, and night trains brimmed with romance and intrigue, delivering a mesmerizing novel of a love that must truly conquer all in order to survive.

I am so glad SBTB highlights historical romances from different lands/time periods other than Regency/Victorian England. I love those too, but sometimes I just need something different as a palate cleanser. I went ahead and bought all Ms. Grayson’s books as they were also on sale. Thanks again.

  2. Oh awesome, the Grayson sounds neat. I may have to grab that from Kobo since it’s .99 there too.

  3. Tam B. says:

I just checked out A Shot at Sultry on Amazon and it has a different description.  On Amazon the couple is Bobbie and Trey.  o_0

(I like the SBTB description better.)

OMG – is that an unintentional dick on the Pamela Clare cover? I’m looking at it on my phone, and at this resolution it looks pretty risqué.

  5. DonnaMarie says:

I have been salivating (really, awful drooley mess here) for the new Pamela Clare, but that teaser copy is making me nervous. This is an author who has no problem cutting off body parts after all.

  6. Macy Beckett says:

Hey, thanks so much for the shout-out! Just FYI: the book you featured (A Shot of Sultry) is the second in my Sultry Springs series. The cover is correct, but the back-cover copy you posted is from the first book, Sultry with a Twist. Hence Pam B’s confusion.
