Book His at NightRECOMMENDED: His at Night is $3.99. This book was a Sizzling Book Club Pick, and I loved it. This book also won the RITA for Best Historical in 2011.

Love is hottest in the darkness before dawn. Elissande Edgerton is a desperate woman, a virtual prisoner in the home of her tyrannical uncle. Only through marriage can she claim the freedom she craves. But how to catch the perfect man? Lord Vere is used to baiting irresistible traps.

As a secret agent for the government, he’s tracked down some of the most devious criminals in London, all the while maintaining his cover as one of Society’s most harmless—and idiotic—bachelors. But nothing can prepare him for the scandal of being ensnared by Elissande.

Forced into a marriage of convenience, Elissande and Vere are each about to discover that they’re not the only one with a hidden agenda.

With seduction their only weapon—and a dark secret from the past endangering both their lives—can they learn to trust each other even as they surrender to a passion that won’t be denied?

Book Private ArrangementsPrivate Arrangements is $3.99. This was Sherry Thomas' first book. Her writing is amazing in my opinion, and one thing I enjoy most is that she always introduces me to clever and evocative use of English.

Love has designs of its own.…

To all of London society, Lord and Lady Tremaine had the ideal arrangement: a marriage based on civility, courteousness, and freedom—by all accounts, a perfect marriage. The reason? For the last ten years, husband and wife have resided on separate continents.

But once upon a time, things were quite different for the Tremaines….

When Gigi Rowland first laid eyes on Camden Saybrook, the attraction was immediate and overwhelming. But what began in a spark of passion ended in betrayal the morning after their wedding—and now Gigi wants to be free to marry again.

When Camden returns from America with an outrageous demand in exchange for her freedom, Gigi’s decision will have consequences she never imagined, as secrets are exposed, desire is rekindled—and one of London’s most admired couples must either fall in love all over again…or let each other go forever.

Book Not Quite a HusbandNot Quite a Husband is $3.99. This is an extraordinary historical that takes the reader to India, and then back to England. This book won the RITA for Best Historical Romance in 2010.

Their marriage lasted only slightly longer than the honeymoon—to no one’s surprise, not even Bryony Asquith’s. A man as talented, handsome, and sought after by society as Leo Marsden couldn't possibly want to spend his entire life with a woman who rebelled against propriety by becoming a doctor.

Why, then, three years after their annulment and half a world away, does he track her down at her clinic in the remotest corner of India? Leo has no reason to think Bryony could ever forgive him for the way he treated her, but he won’t rest until he’s delivered an urgent message from her sister—and fulfilled his duty by escorting her safely back to England.

But as they risk their lives for each other on the journey home, will the biggest danger be the treacherous war around them—or their rekindling passion?

 Book Delicious

Delicious is $3.99. This is a much-loved Thomas book, featuring a chef heroine.

Famous in Paris, infamous in London, Verity Durant is as well-known for her mouthwatering cuisine as for her scandalous love life. But that’s the least of the surprises awaiting her new employer when he arrives at the estate of Fairleigh Park following the unexpected death of his brother.

To rising political star Stuart Somerset, Verity Durant is just a name and food is just food, until her first dish touches his lips. Only one other time had he felt such pure arousal–a dangerous night of passion with a stranger, who disappeared at dawn. Ten years is a long time to wait for the main course, but when Verity Durant arrives at his table, there’s only one thing that will satisfy Stuart’s appetite for more.

But is his hunger for lust, revenge–or that rarest of delicacies, love? For Verity’s past has a secret that could devour them both even as they reach for the most delicious fruit of all.…

  1. Andrea23 says:

I adore Sherry Thomas books.  Her characters act in ways that hurt themselves and/or the ones they love, and yet the actions are rooted in understandable behavior.  My heart often aches for the characters in her books, which makes the eventual HEA that much sweeter.

  2. Qualisign says:

His at Night is one of my all-time favorite reads, especially the scene where the heroine manages to perfect the hero’s hilarious idiotgab (kind of like bafflegab, but with a motivation that is precisely the opposite of self aggrandizement). Many great tropes—marriage of convenience, spying, hidden talents, etc.

  3. Dread Pirate Rachel says:

The cover of Private Arrangements is perfect. I adore it on many levels. I’ve never read anything by Sherry Thomas, but that’s about to change.

  4. Mimi says:

I haven’t read Sherry Thomas books in ages! I think I need to go back and reread them!

  5. Genghis Mom says:

I think my Nook just called me a dumbass under its breath. As in, “You already own this item, dumbass.” followed by “Seriously? Yes, you own this one, too. Maybe stop buying for awhile, dumbass.”

  6. Karenmc says:

I caught The Painted Veil on cable the other day, and was reminded that it was an inspiration for NQAH, one of my very favorite books. I’d buy these ebooks in a heartbeat, if I didn’t already own them.

Great – now I accidentally turned italics on. Hope this fixes it.

I just stayed up until 3:30 in the morning reading “His at Night” all in one sitting. o_o What a perfect blend of humor, depth of feeling, conflict/villainy, charm, and sexy times!
