Books on Sale: A 2013 RITA Winning Novel - Free, and a Dare Reminder!

Book Against the TideAgainst the Tide by Elizabeth Camden is FREE today – and will be $2.99 3-17 August. This book won the 2013 RITA® for Best Inspirational Romance, and was reviewed for the RITA® Reader Challenge by Sassy Outwater, who loved it and gave it an A.

As a child, Lydia Pallas became all too familiar with uncertainty when it came to the future. Now, she's finally carved out a perfect life for herself–a life of stability and order with no changes, surprises, or chaos of any kind. She adores her apartment overlooking the bustling Boston Harbor, and her skill with languages has landed her a secure position as a translator for the U.S. Navy.

However, it is her talent for translation that brings her into contact with Alexander Banebridge, or “Bane,” a man who equally attracts and aggravates her. When Bane hires Lydia to translate a seemingly innocuous collection of European documents, she hesitantly agrees, only to discover she is in over her head.

Just as Bane's charm begins to win her over, Lydia learns he is driven by a secret campaign against some of the most dangerous criminals on the East Coast, compelled by his faith and his past.

Bane forbids any involvement on Lydia's part, but when the criminals gain the upper hand, it is Lydia on whom he must depend.

And I know I've mentioned these two a few times, but the WhatTheWhatNow Price is still on at Amazon for two Tessa Dare novels – they are both still .89c. If you have friends that love historical romance, either or both would be a terrific and easy gift to surprise them!

Book A Week to be Wicked

A Week to be Wicked is .89c at Amazon.com right now. This is, as I've said before, a book for every girl who has felt that her intellectual pursuits made her so unique she was lonely. It's got road trips, dinosaur bones, and a wonderful hero and heroine. It's book #2 in the Spindle Cove series…and it's .89c at Amazon STILL.

Minerva Highwood, one of Spindle Cove's confirmed spinsters, needs to be in Scotland. Colin Sandhurst, Lord Payne, a rake of the first order, needs to be…anywhere but Spindle Cove.

These unlikely partners have one week to
• fake an elopement
• convince family and friends they're in “love”
• outrun armed robbers
• survive their worst nightmares
• travel four hundred miles without killing each other

All while sharing a very small carriage by day and an even smaller bed by night. What they don't have time for is their growing attraction. Much less wild passion. And heaven forbid they spend precious hours baring their hearts and souls. Suddenly one week seems like exactly enough time to find a world of trouble. And maybe…just maybe…love.

Book A Lady by Midnight

RECOMMENDED. LIKE. WHOA. AND IT IS .89c AT AMAZON. FREALS.

A Lady by Midnight is my favorite of the Spindle Cove series (so far). I gave it an A- when I reviewed it:

A Lady By Midnight contained all of those things I loved. A hero denying to himself how much he adored the heroine. A heroine who didn't understand why he rejected her but attempted to persevere anyway. And Definite Reasons why the hero made himself so miserable, reasons that, when revealed, revealed more about him and about her. It's delicious.

After years of fending for herself, Kate Taylor found friendship and acceptance in Spindle Cove—but she never stopped yearning for love. The very last place she'd look for it is in the arms of Corporal Thorne. The militia commander is as stone cold as he is brutally handsome.

But when mysterious strangers come searching for Kate, Thorne steps forward as her fiancé. He claims to have only Kate's safety in mind. So why is there smoldering passion in his kiss?

Long ago, Samuel Thorne devoted his life to guarding Kate's happiness. He wants what's best for her, and he knows it's not marriage to a man like him. To outlast their temporary engagement, he must keep his hands off her tempting body and lock her warm smiles out of his withered heart. It's the toughest battle of this hardened warrior's life . . . and the first he seems destined to lose.

So psyched for the Elizabeth Camden. I’ve been interested in it since reading the RITA challenge review but it was too pricey.  Free is good

  2. What’s wrong with this picture?!? I tried the Kobo, Goodreads, & ARe links to get Against the Tide, & it’s only available in paperback &/or for $14.99. Finally bit the Amazon bullet. Disappointed! Still looking forward to the book, though…

    @Carol:

That is very odd! I’m sorry that happened and not sure why – but I’m glad you got the free copy.

  4. Karin says:

Carol. when I tried it Against the Tide was free at Kobo (as well as Amazon)-not Ar though. Hmm.

  5. @Carol, if you scroll down on BN, there is a place where you can download it for free.

  6. Kobo appears to have changed their domain name handling somehow—the Kobo link isn’t working for me.

And if I go to the Kobo site directly and then look up Against the Tide, it’s coming up as $2.99 there, at least for me as a US visitor.

However, totally free on B&N so *yoink*!

Am I too late?  It isn’t midnight yet, but I’m not seeing the free AGAINST THE TIDE anywhere.

    /pout/

  8. Josie says:

I decided to read Against the Tide on the basis of the strong Challenge review – and the freeness. Usually I stick to 19th century England like glue, but the idea of an independent woman in Boston at this time intrigued me. The sense of place and the heroine’s characterization were generally enjoyable, but I thought the hero was a bit of a jerk.
