Books on Sale: New Adult & Contemporary Romances Plus Urban Fantasy

Book Falling Into YouIn May, Falling Into You was $1.99 for a limited time. Now it's .99c, likely because the parallel sequel, Falling Into Us has been released at $4.99 (it takes place alongside Falling Into You and features different characters from the same circle). So many of the reviews say, “Prepare to Ugly Cry” – so expect angst and emotion. Given the genuinely excited fan reactions to Jasinda Wilder and Falling Into You that I saw at RT (sitting in the W section is awesome, seriously) I am betting her readers will adore this book, too.

I wasn't always in love with Colton Calloway; I was in love with his younger brother, Kyle, first. Kyle was my first one true love, my first in every way. Then, one stormy August night, he died, and the person I was died with him.

Colton didn't teach me how to live. He didn't heal the pain. He didn't make it okay. He taught me how to hurt, how to not be okay, and, eventually, how to let go.

Nell Hawthorne is in love with her life-long best friend, Kyle Calloway. Their young love is invincible and life is full of promise; then one night Kyle dies suddenly in a tragic accident and Nell is forever changed. She meets Kyle's older brother Colton for the first time at the funeral. They both struggle to move on with life as best they can.

Years later, they meet again in New York City, and Colton realizes that Nell has never really gotten over Kyle's death. She seems to be harboring a deeply rooted pain, a heavy weight of guilt and regret. He knows he shouldn't get involved, but he can't help himself.

Trust doesn't come easily for either of them, and they both have demons. Together, they learn the purpose of pain and the meaning of healing, and the importance of forgiveness.

Book In Rides TroubleIn Rides Trouble by Julie Ann Walker is the Amazon Daily Deal in romance and is $1.99 today only.

Becky “Rebel” Reichert never actually goes looking for trouble. It just has a tendency to find her. Like the day Frank Knight showed up at her door, wanting to use her motorcycle shop as a cover for his elite special ops team. But Becky prides herself on being able to hang with the big boys-she can weld, drive, and shoot just as well as any of them.

Munitions, missiles, and mayhem are Frank's way of life. The last thing the ex-SEAL wants is for one brash blonde to come within fifty feet of anything that goes boom. Yet it's just his rotten luck when she ends up in a hostage situation at sea. Come hell or high water, he will get her back-whether she says she needs him or not.

 Book Dead Spots

Dead Spots is another Kindle Daily Deal today at $1.99. I thought some of you might be intrigued: it's an urban fantasy series with a love triangle and some very positive reviews about the author's worldbuilding skills. Have you read this book?

Scarlett Bernard knows about personal space: step within ten feet of her, and any supernatural spells or demonic forces are instantly defused—vampires and werewolves become human again, and witches can’t get out so much as a “hocus pocus.” This special skill makes her a null and very valuable to Los Angeles’s three most powerful magical communities, who utilize her ability to scrub crime scenes clean of all traces of the paranormal to keep humanity, and the LAPD, in the dark.

But one night Scarlett’s late arrival to a grisly murder scene reveals her agenda and ends with LAPD’s Jesse Cruz tracking her down to strike a deal: he’ll keep quiet about the undead underworld if she helps solve the case. Their pact doesn’t sit well with Dash, the city’s chief bloodsucker, who fears his whole vampire empire is at stake.

And when clues start to point to Scarlett, it’ll take more than her unique powers to catch the real killer and clear her name.

Book Burning UpBurning Up is $2.99, and is the first book in Marsh's Smoke Jumpers series.

It takes a special kind of hero to be a smoke jumper. To take the greatest risks. To live or die in the raging heat of the moment. And it takes a special kind of woman to love him. . .

For Jack Donovan, smoke jumping is a way of life. He lives for the adrenaline rush–the thrill of flying over the burning California hills, the intensity of diving straight into the inferno, the glory of taming the forces of nature. Love is a distant ember compared to the feeling he gets fighting fires–until an emergency call from his hometown brings him face to face with the one woman he can't forget. . .

Lily never got over the handsome rogue who once kissed her senseless–and then left. She vowed she was done with love-'em-and-leave-'em men and small town life. Until a series of malicious fires set by a stalker has her running home to hide.

Now, their summer is heating up as Jack fights to save her from the stalker's fiery threats and to convince her to give the passion between them a second chance.

So I appear to have gotten Burning Up out of the library, and recently at that, and I recall absolutely nothing about it, which is sadly typical, but the blurb doesn’t even ring a bell. So I guess it’s more forgettable than most? On the other hand, it seems not to have triggered any rage, so there’s that.

I got the Walker book out of the library, thought it was dumb, and then proceeded to immediately read the next 3. Possibly more. Every time I see a new one I check it out. They remind me a little of the Tara Jansen (Jensen?) Steele St books, though I liked those more. Before they got paranormal. Anyway. I can’t say the series is exactly good, but it doesn’t seem to stop my enjoying them any.

I really like the Black Knights series, so I’m glad to see it on sale!

Looking into Dead Spots and Falling into You! I found some books on sale too, The Forever Girl is New Adult I think, Contemporary Romance but paranormal, and CAGED series by Amber Lynn Natusch was great, fast reading, really cheap.
