Book Lost and Found

Lost and Found is $1.99, and that sale price ends tomorrow. This book combines a lot of things, including grief, reinventing one's self, starting over, small towns (or islands), dogs, and quirky people.

A poignant and unforgettable tale of love, loss, and moving on… with the help of one not-so-little dog. Rocky's husband Bob was just forty-two when she discovered him lying cold and lifeless on the bathroom floor… and Rocky's world changed forever.

Quitting her job, chopping off all her hair, she leaves Massachusetts—reinventing her past and taking a job as Animal Control Warden on Peak's Island, a tiny speck off the coast of Maine and a million miles away from everything she's lost. She leaves her career as a psychologist behind, only to find friendship with a woman whose brain misfires in the most wonderful way and a young girl who is trying to disappear.

Rocky, a quirky and fallible character, discovers the healing process to be agonizingly slow. But then she meets Lloyd. A large black Labrador retriever, Lloyd enters Rocky's world with a primitive arrow sticking out of his shoulder. And so begins a remarkable friendship between a wounded woman and a wounded, lovable beast.

As the unraveling mystery of Lloyd's accident and missing owner leads Rocky to an archery instructor who draws her in even as she finds every reason to mistrust him, she discovers the life-altering revelation that grief can be transformed . . . and joy does exist in unexpected places.

Book Simply Irresistible

Simply Irresistible, one of Rachel Gibson's most highly praised books is $3.79-$3.99. I think I've posted about this book before, but it's fun and funny and enjoyable, and at a great price. This is the first book in Gibson's Chinook's hockey series.

Georgeanne Howard, charm school graduate and Southern bell extraordinaire, leaves her fiance at the altar when she realizes she just can't marry a man old enough to be her grandfather, no matter how rich he is.

John Kowalsky unknowingly helps her escape, and only when it's too late does he realize that he's absconded with his boss's bride. At the height of his hockey career, this bad boy isn't looking to be anyone's savior but his own, no matter how beautiful this angel may be.

But a long night stretches agead of them–a night too sultry to resist temptation.

Book The Thrill of it All

The Thrill of it All was originally published in 2004, and is currently $.99c. This is book 2 in Ridgeway's Caruso family series. Some reviews on Goodreads say this is a wonderfully charming book that, despite flaws in the plot, is a favorite keeper-shelf-worthy read.

Felicity Charm went from dirt–poor desert rat to the ‭erica's Shopping Sweetheart⟷when she single–handedly broke out television's hottest new shopping channel, GetTV, to a whole new audience of young, hip consumers. But try as she might to reinvent her background, the truth is bound to come calling–in the form of crazy Aunt Vi, who needs Felicity's reliability to help sort out the latest family crisis.

So she puts her 'perfect' boyfriend and 'perfect' life on hold, and strikes out in her Miata to Half Palm, CA, hoping to make fast work of her nutsoid relatives and get back to LA as quickly as possible. But before she manages that, she'll meet Luke Nilsson, an extreme rock climbing star who's just as caught up in the antics of the Charm family as Felicity is.

He's wrong for Felicity in every single way imaginable, but get the two of the together and things seem so right. Perhaps Aunt Vi isn't so nutsoid after all…
