I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed “When You Give a Duke a Diamond”. I bought it on sale a few months back, and I wasn’t expecting to like it so much as it initially seemed a bit too “stern duke” meets “fallen woman”. The cliches were still there but I enjoyed it anyway. Good price for a good read.
PEOPLE! This must stop! I now have 294 books in my e-TBR pile! TWO HUNDRED AND NINETY FOUR! (It was 291 five minutes ago.) I’m going to have to give up this website for a few months so I can TRY to catch up.
Nah, clearly he is hovering at her side, quite literally, to avoid that very action, because as everyone knows, getting boot stains out of bright yellow is just a pain.
Well, I have just read “The Governess Affair” and “The Duchess War” and enjoyed them very much; thank you guys for the recommendations. The resolution of Hugo’s emotional dilemma in the former really made me weepy. Courtney Milan is going on my list to buy more.
I have one niggle, though; in both books, the hero physically assaults someone on behalf of his ladylove. This is such a cliche that it seems like an obligatory proof of virility. I don’t like that. I think the association of virility and violence has to die, right away.
Yay free novella! I now have an extensive TBR pile as well…lots of reading to do. Sadly I started reading IT by Stephen King, and that book is so long I feel like I’ll never finish!
And – I love those cover models. They’re dresses aren’t falling off, and they have round torsos like normal women! Good stuff.
I can happily report that the books available on aRe are also on sale for European readers – I’m in Switzerland and just purchased them all for the discounted prices named above!
