Books on Sale: Thieves and Viking Angel Vampires

Book The Legend of Eli Monpress - Three novels in one - Rachel AaronBook The Spirit Thief Cover Orbit has a spiffy deal for this month: for only $2.99 you'll get the first three novels of Rachel Aaron's Eli Monpress series. This edition includes The Spirit Thief, The Sprit Rebellion, and The Spirit Eater. You might recognize this series from the original cover (right). It took me a minute to place it.

Eli Monpress is talented. He's charming. And he's a thief. But not just any thief. He's the greatest thief of the age – and he's also a wizard. And with the help of his partners – a swordsman with the most powerful magic sword in the world but no magical ability of his own, and a demonseed who can step through shadows and punch through walls – he's going to put his plan into effect.

The first step is to increase the size of the bounty on his head, so he'll need to steal some big things. But he'll start small for now. He'll just steal something that no one will miss – at least for a while.

Like a king.

Book Kiss of Pride - Sandra Hill The first two books in Sandra Hill's Deadly Angels series are .99c this month. I am absolutely transfixed by that man's wax job. What's holding up his belt? Wait, don't answer that.

Some men are too bad to be true . . .

Is he really a Viking with a vampire's bite? An angel with the body of a thunder god? A lone wolf with love on his mind? Alexandra Kelly, his prey, thinks Vikar Sigurdsson is either flat-out crazy or he's trying to maneuver her into his bed—which is hardly where a professional reporter should conduct an interview, tempting as that prospect might be.

And some men are too good to be true . . .

Until Vikar does something a teensy bit unexpected, and Alex begins to wonder whether her mystery man could really be everything he says he is: a Viking Vampire Angel on a thousand-year-long mission with his pack of sinful brothers—and a man who's finally found the woman of his dreams. By then, Vikar is already wrapping his chiseled arms around Alex's body . . . and sinking his wicked fangs right into her neck. If this is sin, why does it feel so good?

Book Kiss of Surrender - Sandra Hill This is book two in Sandra Hill's Deadly Angels series. Due to the white tank top, I can't make any guesses as to this man's wax job.

It's not easy being a Vampire Angel.

No one knows that better than Trond Sigurdsson. In the centuries since he last went out drinking and wenching with his Viking buds, Trond has been a gladiator, a cowboy, a ditch digger . . . even a sheik. But now he's the baddest of them all: a kick-ass Navy SEAL kicking butts of terrorist immortals with the help of his hotter-than-Hades female partner, police officer-turned-Special Forces operative Nicole Tasso—whom Trond dearly hopes to “partner” with very shortly in a whole different way.

The “cop” part of Nicole tells her there's something bizarre about her gorgeous godlike teammate. But her “all-woman” side can't help wondering how great it would be to have a virile Viking in her bed. Trond has secrets galore, but Nicole feels certain she can dig them out—and really get to the heart of this powerful, unnerving stranger whom she may be risking her soul to love.

  1. Karen Wapinski says:

Nice, just bought Eli Monpress books ^_^ Thanks for the heads up

  2. Liz H says:

“I am absolutely transfixed by that man’s wax job. What’s holding up his belt? Wait, don’t answer that.”

That’s why he’s standing like that; if he moves his legs any closer together his pants will fall straight down. The arms are just for mental encouragment (you know, like when you lean with the football players on the tv screen to get them to go just a little faster).

  3. cleo says:

The Vampire Angels are called Vangels.  Which just makes me laugh.

  4. Lori says:

How would you wear clothes over wings?

  5. Randomly says:

Is the Monpress deal US only?  I’m not seeing those prices on Amazon or iBooks

  6. Wow. I thought SBSarah was just being a smartass with the title of today’s post, but apparently a Viking Angel Vampire hero is really a thing. Jesus, people, just pick a species and stick with it! You don’t have to hit the trifecta of romance hero possibilities.

  7. SB Sarah says:

Yes. Yes, you do. If there’s no trifecta of romance, I am shit out of luck over here!

  8. SB Sarah says:

Wait, is it me or does the dude on the cover of Kiss of Pride (Viking Angel Vampire 1) look like a lot like Russell Crowe?

  9. harthad says:

Oh, come on! It’s not like he’s a Shifter-Fae-Demon-Viking-Angel-Vampire hero or anything.

Or, maybe he could be a Duke-Billionaire-Sheikh-SpecialForces-Shifter-Fae-Demon-Viking-Angel-Vampire. Now, that would overkill.

  10. Mirandaflynn says:

“look like a lot like Russell Crowe? “

I think he looks like David Hassellhoff.

  11. Kleighh says:

I’m with Lori.  How’d they get the jacket and tank top on?  Is that one of their special powers?

  12. Beggar1015 says:

I dare any author here to write about a greek billionaire duke time traveling sheikh specialforces shifter fae demon cowboy viking angel vampire amnesiac pirate

    and his secret baby

    with his virgin stablegirl

  13. Carolyn says:

You really need to read Nalini Singh. She answers all these hard questions. 😉

  14. pisceschick says:

Can you give those of us that aren’t interested in reading it and are just mildly curious a lil hint?  Please?

  15. Ellielu says:

Aside from the obvious wax job issue, I’m struck by the vast amount of hair product that’s going into those Viking coifs.

And wouldn’t the bad guys just have to step on the back of that bad-ass leather duster to keep the hero from running away? I’m getting a Tom and Jerry image of the Viking/Special Forces/vampire/ditch digging hero running like a hamster on a wheel…..

  16. cleo says:

Sharon Shinn’s angels wear specially designed clothes that are mostly backless, iirc.  Not sure about Nalini Singh’s.

The angels on the vangel covers got their shirts (and wings) through the miracle of photoshop.

  17. Joykenn says:

Ok, Hill is known for lighthearted, wise cracking romance but REALLY “vangels”??  Viking vampire angels??  I’m in awe with the mashups you guys have come up with…“Shifter-Fae-Demon-Viking-Angel-Vampire”, etc.  AND a secret baby (my favorite plot device a la Harlequin).  Could you do a sequel to that of a Special Forces Son of a Shifter-Fae-Demon-Viking-Angel-Vampire and a Hidden-Outerspace-Princess-Librarian?

Also, I don’t find hairless chests sexy.  Am I in the minority?

  18. Carolanne says:

I have them in paperback. They are similar (and have some of the same people!) as the Viking/ Navy SEAL books. They are funny but they have a little more edge than those. Worth a buck.

  19. I love Sandra Hill. I miss the old timey covers she used to have though. She used to have the BEST covers

  20. PamG says:

That explains why their hair is so shiny, but where’s the luv truck?
