Books on Sale: Historical Romance

Historical romances on sale! Perfect for cold weather reading… or hot weather reading, if you're in the southern hemisphere.

The Perils of Pleasure - Julie Ann Long

The Perils of Pleasure is book 1 in the Pennyroyal Green series, which I love a LOT. It's currently $1.99, and book #4, below, is also on sale. I wait for each to go on sale and collect the mall, like Beanie Babies or Garbage Pail Kids only MUCH MUCH BETTER (and more valuable) (to me, anyway).

Scandal has rocked the city of London. Colin Eversea, a handsome, reckless unapologetic rogue is sentenced to hang for murder and, inconveniently for him, the only witness to the crime disappears. Then again, throughout history, the Everseas have always managed to cheat fate in style: Colin is snatched from the gallows by a beautiful, clever mercenary.

Cool-headed, daring Madeleine Greenway is immune to Colin's vaunted charm. Her mission is not to rescue Colin but to kidnap him, and to be paid handsomely for it. But when it becomes clear that whoever wants Colin alive wants Madeline dead, the two become uneasy allies in a deadly race for truth. Together, they'll face great danger—and a passion neither can resist.

I Kissed an Earl - Julie Anne Long

I love the Pennyroyal Green series – have I mentioned? – and this one, #4, is only .99c digitally.

Violet Redmond's family and fortune might be formidable and her beauty and wit matchless—but her infamous flare for mischief keeps all but the most lionhearted suitors at bay. Only Violet knows what will assuage her restlessness: a man who doesn't bore her to tears, and a clue to the fate of her missing brother. She never dreamed she'd find both with a man whose own pedigree is far from impeccable. “Savage” is what the women of the ton whisper about the newly styled Earl of Ardmay—albeit with shivers of pleasure.

Born an English bastard, raised on the high seas, he's on a mission to capture a notorious pirate for vengeance. But while Violet's belief in her brother's innocence maddens him, her courage awes him . . . and her sensuality finally undoes him. Now the man who once lost everything and the girl who has everything to lose are bound by a passion that could either end in betrayal . . . or become everything they ever dreamed.

Echoes in the Mist

Echoes in the Mist - Andrea kane - old cover: yellow flowers and a guy in a brown jacket holding a redheaded woman on his lap Echoes in the Mist by Andrea Kane, the first book in the Kingsley in Love series, is $1.99 digitally. I'm trying to decide which cover I like better: the creepy misty garden, or the red head in a pink gown.

Is Trenton Kingsley’s long-awaited revenge about to be undone by love?

Six years in exile have given Trenton Kingsley time to perfect his plot for vengeance. But when capricious fate turns his dreams to dust, the tormented duke of Broddington devises an even better scheme. An eye for an eye, a sister for a father. And seduction be damned. By royal decree, he will take ownership of his rival’s most cherished possession: the fair, innocent Ariana.

Ariana Caldwell has heard the tragic rumors since she was a child. Kingsley tore her family apart and now she’s being forced to become his wife. Furious at being tied to the man she detests above all others, Ariana isn’t prepared for the tender feelings her new husband arouses. Determined to uncover the truth of the family feud—no matter how shocking—she embarks on a search that could cost her everything, including the man who is slowly winning her heart.

  1. Beccah W. says:

I love, love, loved Echoes – but it was ridiculously dated in terms of plot and characters. The hero is a 30-ish something debauched man suffering from constant ennui, and the heroine a barely 18 year old virgin who communes with nature and has the sun shining out of her rear. Her youth and innocence and insufferable confidence in the beauty of the world re-awakens the rake’s heart and soul. Ah, the 80’s/90’s 🙂

  2. Beccah W. says:

Oh, and who could not love the older cover? It’s pink and flowery, and the hero looks like Peter Gallagher!

  3. SB Sarah says:

YES! That is exactly who it looks like! I was trying to figure that out- thank you.

  4. Laura says:

I’m not sure the eyebrows are bushy enough to be Peter Gallagher. . .

  5. Mochabean1 says:

And it turns out the Duke is tortured because his first wife, let’s call her “Andie” ran off with his best friend who painted a scandalous portrait of her, after she found out the Duke was sleeping with her hussy younger sister, the barmaid…

  6. Karin says:

I adored The Perils of Pleasure but I Kissed An Earl was my least favorite Pennyroyal Green book so far. But I am too dedicated to the whole series to think about skipping any. And props for a somewhat realistic depiction of cramped and smelly conditions on board a ship of those days.
