The Rancher and the Rock Star

The Rancher and the Rock Star is $.99c at many retailers, though a few are showing a $3.99 price. This book takes place on a ranch in Minnesota. I hope he wears a shirt more often in the book. Otherwise it is mosquito time.

To the world, Gray Covey is a rock superstar. But to his runaway son, he's simply the father who never has any time for him. To prove that he's more than his rock star lifestyle, for the next few weeks Gray must put aside his fame and become…a farmhand? Abby Stadtler has built the perfect, quiet life for herself. Neat and orderly is the name of the game for her and her beloved farm.

When Gray shows up on her doorstep, looking like he stepped straight off the front cover of a magazine, she is determined that he won't upset her routine. But what neither counts on is the love that springs up between them. Abby knows that life on a ranch in Minnesota can never compete with an exciting world tour.

But for Gray, it's time to decide what's really important. With Abby's help, will he be able to decide, once and for all, that love and family are the answer?

Juggling her budding romance with dashing chef Roman Falconi, her duty to her family, and a design challenge presented by a prestigious department store, Valentine returns to Italy with her grandmother in a quest to build a pair of glorious shoes to beat their rivals.

And in the course of discovering her true artistic voice and so much more in la bella Italia, Valentine will be turning her life and the business upside down in ways she never expected.

Footloose Bundle - Three Leanne Banks books in one

This bundle is three books in one, and the price ranges at various retailers from about $9 to $15 US. But this is a Harlequin bundle so it's coupon eligible – all of these books are. Included are Feet First, Underfoot and Footloose

Feet First: Designing footwear is Jenny Prillaman's life, so getting the plum assignment to create a socialite's wedding shoes is a dream come true. Dealing with the heiress is another story. So is staying away from her dreamy new boss, a man too hot to deny for long, despite Jenny's best intentions of keeping her business away from his pleasure. Making Bellagio, Inc. an international success is executive Marc Waterson's career ambition. But his life's desire is to find the right woman and settle down. Too bad Jenny would rather follow in his corporate footsteps than try on the glass slippers of a company wife. At least Marc's got one thing going for him–the way to a woman's heart is through a really great pair of shoes!

Underfoot: Bellagio, Inc. public relations genius Trina Roberts had been a bad, bad girl when she'd gone to bed with a recently jilted groom and wound up pregnant. She knew Walker Gordon wasn't looking for forever–at least not with her. So when he took a job overseas, she sort of neglected to tell him about the baby on the way. Well, now he's back…and he's just figured out the truth. Walker had been reeling from a very public breakup when Trina had offered solace he couldn't deny. He'd never expected the result would make him somebody's daddy! Trina claimed not to need anything from him, but he was determined that his child have a father; he just didn't know if it should be him. Because a father's shoes…well, those he wasn't sure he could fill.

Footloose: Even on a tropical getaway, a girl's got to watch out for the sharks… Think working for a leading international shoe company sounds like a dream job? Not if you're Amelia Parker, an overworked, downtrodden temp working for Bellagio, Inc.'s grande dame, Lillian Bellagio. But things are looking up for Amelia. She's just been given the assignment of accompanying Ms. Bellagio to her estate in the Keys. Trading pumps for flip-flops and a cell phone for a conch shell–could be worse, right? Especially when life on the island includes her very own mystery man–one Jack “The Shark” O'Connell, dashing venture capitalist. He dares Amelia to use this time to do something wild: drink a hurricane, go skinny-dipping…have an affair with a dangerously attractive man. Now Amelia will have to decide whether to step into that glass slipper.

  1. That is a Gibson Les Paul. GET THAT GUITAR OUT OF THE GRASS! What the hell kind of self-respecting musician puts an instrument in the grass against a fence? If you’re going to destroy a guitar, at least do it on stage like a normal rock star.

*shakes fist, mumbles something about getting off my lawn, and retreats to cave*

  2. Karenmc says:

Thank you for taking up the cause of maligned string instruments! John Hiatt would be proud.

  3. Ha! Having looked at the headstock and the sunburst a little more closely, I think it might actually be an Epiphone Les Paul (kind of hard to tell from this angle). So we’re talking about a few hundred dollars, not a few thousand.

BUT STILL. If the cover artist is going to badly photoshop a guitar somewhere, the least they could do is photoshop it into my living room. 🙂

  4. Moly says:

Umm…Minnesota has farms.  Not ranches.  Ranches are for beef cattle and open ranges, not dairy farms.  Which is what Minnesota has.  I haven’t read the book and I’m already perturbed.

  5. hapax says:

“But for Gray, it’s time to decide what’s really important. With Abby’s help, will he be able to decide, once and for all, that love and family are the answer?”

Because golly gee, Gray, it’s just IMPOSSIBLE to have love and a family while exploring your artistic passions and making truckloads of money on an exciting world tour!

Run, Abby!  Run into the next blurb and pick yourself up some fabulous shoes instead!

  6. JG18 says:

If you like the idea of a romance with an aging rock star, I recommend _Natural Born Charmer_, in the loosely interlocking Chicago Bears series by Susan Elizabeth Phillips. The rocker is not the core character but features prominently.

  7. SB Sarah says:

Are you trying to say that you don’t leave a fine musical instrument in the grass against a fence when you wander off shirtless on the Minnesota Ranchfarm?

  8. Turophile says:

You are killing me with all your sale postings – and now one set in Minnesota! So rare to see books set in my state.  (But who da heck in MN would call it a ranch.  It’s a farm! We don’t have ranches.)

One of my NY resolutions is that I have to read 75% of the ebooks I bought last year before I am allowed to buy more, but dang you are making it tempting.
I hope others can enjoy the notifications.
And if I could post a photo here, what I’d show you is that the farm photo in MN really needs boots on the posts.

  9. Only if it’s a Stradivarius.

  10. Darlynne says:

One of my all-time favorites and most frequent re-read. Anna Fields’ narration of the audiobook is priceless, particularly her characterization of aging rocker Jack Patriot.

  11. Lauren says:

As a fan of rock-star romances AND stuff set in the Midwest (Illinois girl all my life), I bought The Rancher and the Rock Star. Even though I agree – there are no ranches in Minnesota!

Damn these sale books. Damn them.

  12. I bought it, too. For various reasons, rock star books are my kryptonite. We should chat, because I’m now 75% done with The Rancher and the Rock Star, and I have… thoughts (non-spoilery). The most prominent is, “Has the author ever actually been to a rock concert?” The next most prominent is, “Why is a contemporary of Kurt Cobain wearing sequins?”

Oh, romance. You can be so funny sometimes.

  14. SB Sarah says:

There is no doubt in my mind Cobain had sequins. Secret sequins.

  15. ridiculousspider says:

This comment reminds me of a vintage Nirvana tee somebody handstitched sequins to the smiley face and the band name.  Some sequins for Cobain right there.

  16. I feel a book rant coming on about The Spurious Rancher’s Secret Sequined Rockstar.

  17. JG18 says:

I’ll take your word for a female narrator doing a male aging rocker!
