Jim C. Hines Steals his Wife’s Shoes - Plus Johanna Lindsey Euphemism Book Titles on Sale

Jim C. Hines, with one leg shaved, posing with his leg out aiming a crossbowA few days ago, I linked to Jim C. Hines' cover pose challenge to raise money for the Aicardi Syndrome Foundation. Jim's willingess to shave his legs, steal his wife's and his mom's shoes, and pose in intricate fashion has raised over $6000 to date.

And his challenge to John Scalzi has been answered

There are more cover poses to come – including a Johanna Lindsey cover – but for now, I say the advantage is to Mr. Hines, who shaved one leg for his commitment to art.

Well played, Mr. Hines. Well played.

A round-up of winter romance recommendations that I wrote is included in today's Washington Post Book World section. Because this was for the print and digital editions, I had to do a lot of editing it to make it shorter – and the final version is shorter still. Oh, column inches! On the internet, we don't need no stinkin' inches! Heh. Either way, thanks to Ron “Laters, Baby” Charles for including romance in the books section!

I know many of you like to read series in order, so here are three of the books in Johanna Lindsey's Wyoming series on sale now, including two of my very favorite euphemism titles.

Brave the Wild Wind - Johanna Lindsey

Brave the Wild Wind (Wyoming Series #1) is $1.99 digitally. It is also my second-favorite fart-euphemism title.

As wild as the Wyoming frontier and a terror when spurned, Jessie Blair is furious when she over hears Chase Summers refusing her hand — and vows to seduce the handsome drifter out of spite.

Enraged by Jessie's arrogance yet haunted by her beauty, Chase is irresistible drawn to the headstrong miss — and into her troubles with the land-hungry villains who murdered her father. For his pride insists he tame the fiery temptress who toys with his emotions. And his passion won't be sated until the sensuous young hellion becomes a woman in his arms.

Savage Thunder - Johanna Lindsey

Savage Thunder is #2 in the Wyoming series, and my very favorite fart-euphemism romance title.

Newly widowed after a shockingly brief marriage to an elderly British lord, Jocelyn Fleming still aches with the pain of unexplored desire. And now her restless heart is leading her far from the protective bosom of polite London society to the perilous beauty of the American West . . .and to Colt Thunder.

Breathlessly exciting but dangerously unpredictable, Colt is a loner whose Cheyenne blood burns hotter than the blistering Arizona sun. Jocelyn's wealth and title mean nothing to this strange whose passion rules his actions and his heart. But neither the wild desert stallion nor the untouched English rose can deny their irresistible attraction. . .or prevent the firestorm of emotion that erupts when their vastly different worlds collide.

Angel - Johanna Lindsey

Angel is book #3 in the Wyoming series, and is unfortunately not a very euphemistic title.

Hoping to cool off a twenty-five-year-old feud between two neighboring families, Cassie Stuart only succeeds in pouring kerosene on the flames. Both sides have warned her to get out of Texas pronto. . .or they will burn her father's ranch to the ground. What Cassie needs is a peacemaker but she ends up with a widow-maker instead.

He is called Angel , a ruggedly handsome hired gun with eyes as black as sin. Unwanted and unwelcomed by his ungrateful employer, he would just as soon leave Cassie to fend for herself. But a stubborn sense of duty , and a desire to taste the sweetness of her kiss steels Angel's resolve to make Cassie want him, come hell or high water. . .and for more than his gun alone.

“But neither the wild desert stallion nor the untouched English rose can deny their irresistible attraction”

    Now that’s some cross-pollination.

  6. kayjewel says:

Jim must have little feet, to be able to wear his mom’s shoes.

  7. Susan says:

Jim Hines has nicer legs than I do.  Sigh.

Also, I confess that Savage Thunder used to be a guilty pleasure of mine, although I haven’t read it in awhile.

  8. dbk says:

Those cover poses are the best thing I’ve ever found on the internet. Besides Smart Bitches Trashy Books of course.

  9. Flo_over says:

Great cause, I gave some of my Christmas donation to them.  Not just for the posing but I wouldn’t want anyone’s little girl to suffer.

Jim C. Hines does have fabulous legs.  Color me jealous.

  10. Judy says:

Wow. I never knew people imitated covers. The butter knife was a nice touch.
