Books On Sale

It’s December so Get Ready for Books on Sale

Y'all, it is December, and every day between now and either Christmas or the 31st, depending on how much energy folks have, there's going to be stuff on sale, especially books.

Here are a few! (Don't hate me).

Paris My Sweet - Amy Thomas - A travel memoir of eating things in Paris.

Paris, My Sweet, by Amy Thomas.

Sourcebooks is having a daily sale on different books each day of December. Today's is this travel memoir (oh, crap, I freaking love travel memoirs) about, surprise, Paris.

Forever a girl obsessed with all things French, sweet freak Amy Thomas landed a gig as rich as the purest dark chocolate: leave Manhattan for Paris to write ad copy for Louis Vuitton. Working on the Champs-Élysées, strolling the charming streets, and exploring the best patisseries and boulangeries, Amy marveled at the magnificence of the City of Light.

But does falling in love with one city mean turning your back on another? As much as Amy adored Paris, there was part of her that felt like a humble chocolate chip cookie in a sea of pristine macarons. PARIS, MY SWEET explores how the search for happiness can be as fleeting as a salted caramel souffle's rise, as intensely satisfying as molten chocolate cake, and about how the life you're meant to live doesn't always taste like the one you envisioned.

But wait, there's more.

Holly Lane by Toni Blake - contemporary small town romance set in Destiny, Ohio

I haven't read this installment of the Destiny series, but at .99c, I might grab a copy for future reading.

Sue Ann Simpkins is working hard to rebuild her life and find some holiday spirit. A weekend away from Destiny in a cabin on nearby Bear Lake seems like the perfect Christmas gift to herself—until her ex’s best friend, Adam Becker, shows up at the door, claiming the cabin is his! And if that’s not trouble enough, how had she never noticed how gorgeous he was?

Alone for the holidays and forced to play a reindeer at the local department store, Adam’s been feeling rather Scrooge-ish himself. But finding the smart, sexy woman he’s admired since elementary school waiting in the house he rented is helping to brighten his humbug mood. And when a sudden snowstorm strands them together in very close quarters, leading to one very hot night together, Adam soon realizes that what he really wants for Christmas is a second chance at love. Now all he has to do is convince Sue Ann . . .

My Kind of Christmas - Robyn Carr - Small town contemporary romance set in Virgin River CA

There is no name more perfect for small town contemporary romance than “Virgin River.”

The Riordan brothers may have a reputation for being rough-and-tumble, but Patrick has always been the gentle, sweet-natured one. These days, his easygoing manner is being tested by his high-octane career as a navy pilot. But for the Riordan brothers, when the going gets tough…the tough find the love of a good woman. Except the woman who has caught Patrick's attention is Jack Sheridan's very attractive niece.

Angie LeCroix comes to Virgin River to spend Christmas relaxing, away from her well-intentioned but hovering mother. Yet instead of freedom, she gets Jack Sheridan. If her uncle had his way, she'd never go out again. And certainly not with rugged, handsome Patrick Riordan. But Angie has her own idea of the kind of Christmas she wants—and the kind of man! Patrick and Angie thought they wanted to be left alone this Christmas—until they meet each other. Then they want to be left alone together. But the Sheridan and Riordan families have different plans for Patrick and Angie—and for Christmas, Virgin River-style!

Graveminder by Melissa Marr

Rebekkah Barrow never forgot the attention her grandmother Maylene bestowed upon the dead of Claysville, the small town where Bek spent her adolescence. There wasn't a funeral that Maylene didn't attend, and at each one Rebekkah watched as Maylene performed the same unusual ritual: She took three sips from a silver flask and spoke the words “Sleep well, and stay where I put you.”

Now Maylene is dead, and Bek must go back to the place she left a decade earlier. She soon discovers that Claysville is not just the sleepy town she remembers, and that Maylene had good reason for her odd traditions. It turns out that in Claysville the worlds of the living and the dead are dangerously connected; beneath the town lies a shadowy, lawless land ruled by the enigmatic Charles, aka Mr. D. If the dead are not properly cared for, they will come back to satiate themselves with food, drink, and stories from the land of the living.

Only the Graveminder, by tradition a Barrow woman, and her Undertaker—in this case Byron Montgomery, with whom Bek shares a complicated past—can set things right once the dead begin to walk.

Carnival of Souls - Melissa Marr

In a city of daimons, rigid class lines separate the powerful from the power-hungry. And at the heart of The City is the Carnival of Souls, where both murder and pleasure are offered up for sale. Once in a generation, the carnival hosts a deadly competition that allows every daimon a chance to join the ruling elite. Without the competition, Aya and Kaleb would both face bleak futures—if for different reasons. For each of them, fighting to the death is the only way to try to live.

All Mallory knows of The City is that her father—and every other witch there—fled it for a life in exile in the human world. Instead of a typical teenage life full of friends and maybe even a little romance, Mallory scans quiet streets for threats, hides herself away, and trains to be lethal. She knows it's only a matter of time until a daimon finds her and her father, so she readies herself for the inevitable.

While Mallory possesses little knowledge of The City, every inhabitant of The City knows of her. There are plans for Mallory, and soon she, too, will be drawn into the decadence and danger that is the Carnival of Souls.

  1. Darlynne says:

Sarah, the link to Amazon for Robyn Carr’s book goes to Toni Blake’s. For me, anyway.

  2. SB Sarah says:

Whoops – all fixed! Thanks for the heads up.

  3. ms bookjunkie says:

Not a sale so much as a disappearance of Whispernet charges:

Those international readers who wouldn’t buy Loretta Chase’s Trad Regencies for $5.74 should check back at Amazon. All the prices dropped to $2.99 for me. *much clicking* *VBG*

  4. Darlynne says:

For Amazon UK customers, “You Had Me At Hello” by Mhairi McFarlane is £0.99. I’ve just started it and am completely charmed, as well as laughing out loud. The 88 or so reviews would seem to indicate the rest of the story will hold up.

  5. Elyse says:

Lori Wilde is Barnes and Noble’s spotlight author. Some of her e-books are 99 cents: the Cowboy Takes a Bride and The First Love Cookie Club.

  6. I’ve picked up Mira Lynn Kelly’s latest, Waking up Married, one of the new KISS line from Harlequin line. I’m only 10% in, but it’s really fun so far.  It’s free at Amazon, BN and the Harlequin website. Link to Amazon http://www.amazon.com/Waking-U….

Another new Harlequin line, Escape, has discounted titles for now. I bought Grease Monkey Jive, which is super cute. Link to the Dear Author review with multiple links to buy http://dearauthor.com/book-rev….

  7. Lisa Pegg says:

There’s a number of holiday titles available at BN.com for $0.99: A Seduction at Christmas by Cathy Maxwell, The Christmas Cookie Chronicles by Lori Wilde, Just Curious by Jude Deveraux, Keepsake by Antoinette Stockenberg. Also, Debbie Macomber’s 1225 Christmas Tree Lane is $4.00, while Linda Lael Miller’s Christmas of the Red Chiefs is $1.99.

Yes, I subscribe to the B&N Romance Readers feed on FB.

  8. turophile says:

So, how does one subsribe to the B& N romance readers feed?

  9. Mikaela Lind says:

*has sads* Both Graveminder and the Toni Blake book are on my wishlist and I would love read Robyn Carr, but Allromance hasn’t lowered the prices.

Oh, Harlequin offers 50% off on e-books, today ( Dec 2) only.

  10. Lisa Pegg says:

I don’t know that it’s a “feed” so much as it is a group that you can like (sometimes I’m very poor at using social media language). Search out B&N Romance Readers and Like or Subscribe to the page. You’ll get periodic notices about stuff. I’ve also got Avon Romance as a like/subscribed page.
