Hanukkah Extravaganzah, Part the Seventh!

A computer generated image of a menorah with a book in front of it. On the seventh night of Hanukkah, Smart Bitches gave to me: more noooooooooooooook-(ee). (Note: not actual nooky.)

nook simple touch with glow light screenI'm giving away another  nook Simple Touch with Glow Light to one person chosen at random from the comments in this thread. Can you tell the theme of this year's Hanukkah Extravaganzah is Reading All the Things?

Just leave a comment saying what kind of cover you'd put on your nook, if you'd use a cover at all. (Naked nooks?! Oh my!)

  1. I’d want either my case to make my nook resemble a book, or some sort of animal print.. fish scales? zebra? tabby cat? Something along those lines!

  2. Elizabeth says:

I think I would give it to my 11 year-old daughter, so I would have to have her input in selecting a cover.  Something VERY sturdy would be a good idea.

  3. Clbevill says:

Buck nekkid.  It’s the best way.

  4. Ropergirl says:

Whatever catches the least pet hair. I’ve left little pieces of my dog and cat all over the country by now, thanks to my ’ competing product’ ereader.

  5. AmericanLA says:

I love the covers that have fun literary quotations.  I have an old skool nook now and the cover reads “A good book is the best of friends, the same today and forever” – Martin Tupper.  So I would probably look for something along the same lines.

  6. Lori says:

I haven’t looked much at ereader covers, but I know I’d have to get one and that it would need to be of the indestructible variety. I am not a graceful person and my bags tend to be less than tidy so the case would need to provide good protection both when I was using the Nook and when I was carrying it around.

  7. MizzSunny says:

Something purple. Not sure what kind of covers are out there.

  8. As Edina and Patsy from Absolutely Fabulous were often quoted saying – “You must have a little leopard, darling.”  So a leopard cover it would be!

  9. Meg says:

It would take me aaages to decide on a cover. I am so indecisive and picky!

  10. Heitzqp says:

Red. Or black. No, definitely red.

  11. Sara the Reader says:

Naked Nooks are the best Nooks!

  12. Sarah W says:

Red with sequins because it’ll look so pretty when it glows.

  13. natasha says:

Naked. I think I’d be too afraid to take it outside.

  14. Nita says:

I’ve been in love with a blue cover that has icons to represent classic books ever since I first saw it. So that one.

  15. Juliana says:

I know a store that creates beautiful Celtic inspired ereader covers!

  16. Aralira says:

I tend to use frames rather than covers so I’d probably use one of those.

  17. AshleyF says:

My co-worker makes these beautiful fabric covers and I would purchase one to cover it.  She inserts this hard material between the fabric so it acts as a soft/hard case.

  18. GHN says:

Depends on what is available where I live, but I’d probably go for a plain cover in black.

  19. Winnie Pang says:

    a neoprene sleeve

  20. Qualisign says:

I have an empty red leather Nook sleeve that I used to use for my Kindle. $5 at an airport. It really could use filling, as it would then make a perfect holiday gift for an adult child with no e-reader.

  21. Anna says:

I’m more of a sticker person than covers. I’d probably forego the cover.

  22. Flicka94 says:

I’d go for a cute design or for the worn book look for covers.

  23. Emily K says:

I would probably get something fun and girly from Etsy!

  24. Christine says:

I bet my mom would make me a cute one—she just made one for hers!

  25. Amy P. says:

I want a pink cover – maybe bling it up a bit !!

  26. Jikie says:

Something pretty and sturdy, for all the times I’ll accidently drop it and so it’ll survive being crammed in with my textbooks in my bag.

  27. SBTB Admin says:

I would get a skin from Decal Girl and use it and maybe put it in a sleeve.

  28. Hollyg238 says:

a flourscent color one – so I can easily see it my backpack or at home.

  29. KEM79 says:

I would buy the New Yorker cover I love it.  Or something in purple!

  30. daffiney says:

I’d loom knit a little nook bag.

    Thanks for the giveaways!

  31. I think a naked nook would be great. My tablet has an on the go case with room for company, so it would have a great home.

  32. Katie L says:

I would probably get some literary one covered in words from etsy.

  33. AnnaM says:

I think I would use the same folio-type as for my color, only nicer.  Perhaps leather.

  34. Jojo B. says:

I don’t know anything about Nook covers! Just something with a super cute design!

  35. I like the skins better then the covers. So I would definitely put a cutesy skin on it!

  36. No cover, but I would skin it with a fairy of course.

  37. Vicki says:

I like a cover for protection and, since I often put things down and can’t remember where, the brighter the better. So I am thinking hot pink with an Anita Loos quote splashed across it.

  38. BitsyRavenclaw says:

I’ve got this great cover on my current one that looks like notebook paper with ‘read between the lines’ written on the front. It’s cute, has a pocket (I developed a bad habit of using my Nook as an ad hoc file folder in my sub days) and a big hit with my students, so I’d probably transfer it over.

  39. Amanda says:

    Something purple and cheap.

  40. Lenorej says:

I have been felting thrift store cashmere for scarves etc. I would create a cozy custom cover in bright blocks of felt, all the better to find and fondle my fabulous new, glowing nook!
