Hanukkah Extravaganzah, Part the Seventh!

A computer generated image of a menorah with a book in front of it. On the seventh night of Hanukkah, Smart Bitches gave to me: more noooooooooooooook-(ee). (Note: not actual nooky.)

nook simple touch with glow light screenI'm giving away another  nook Simple Touch with Glow Light to one person chosen at random from the comments in this thread. Can you tell the theme of this year's Hanukkah Extravaganzah is Reading All the Things?

Just leave a comment saying what kind of cover you'd put on your nook, if you'd use a cover at all. (Naked nooks?! Oh my!)

I’m ashamed to say I’d buy the least expensive cover that worked well. That’s just how I roll, you know. If it protects the ereader and doesn’t bust my bank, I’ll put up with ugly. 😉

  2. Lyndsay says:

I would make a Moleskine case like this one! http://www.instructables.com/i…
    I love moleskines!

  3. Bee says:

I have the most difficult time buying covers, so it’d probably be naked for awhile. I like th ones that make them look like books best, so it’d probably be one of those.

  4. GrowlyCub says:

I don’t know anything about what kind of covers are available for the new nooks, but I’d like something that would make it stand up on its own, so I could have my hands free.  And something pretty would be icing on the cake. 🙂

  5. I would probably put a cover on it, but I’m not quite sure which one. Something that would take a hit if I dropped it though. Do they make Otterboxes for ereaders?

  6. Patricia M. says:

Something emerald green since that is my favorite color

  7. Tabs says:

The red one I keep eyeing up at Target.  Or one of the super cute Totoro sleeves I keep eyeing up on Etsy.

  8. pwm in mi says:

    Something colorful:)

  9. Lisa J says:

My choice would be some type of sleeve cover.  I like holding the reader in my had without a cover.

  10. Vandy Jones says:

One of those ones that look like a book.

  11. MaddBookish says:

I love the look of those cloth bound book style covers, but it seems like they’d be hard to keep clean.

  12. Amitatuq says:

If I could afford it, I’d go with one that looks like a book.  Otherwise I think I’ll stick with whatever’s cheapest or go for a naked nook. 🙂

  13. Yaara says:

Something dark that wouldn’t show dirt so much since I’d carry it everywhere with me and the inside of my bag can get scary….

  14. Sandy L says:

Oooh, I love covers! Probably something purple.

  15. Bree A says:

I prefer a naked Nook! So I would use a cover that could protect the nook when traveling but be taken off for reading:)

  16. Brooke says:

Anything that would protect it from a 2-year old.

  17. Cheri Daanen says:

A pretty cover that would also stand on its own if I want to prop the book on my lap or table to read instead of holding it.

  18. Harper Gray says:

I’ve never had an e-reader before, so I’d have to have it naked for a bit to get used to the feel. But then, if I covered it, it would probably be something brightly coloured to make sure I wouldn’t lose it!!

  19. Lammie says:

I would also use a cover that makes it look like a precious (my precious?) book.

  20. Kornzohar says:

I’ll make my one embroidered cover

  21. Cheri Daanen says:

A pretty cover that would also stand on its own if I want to prop the book on my lap or table to read instead of holding it.

  22. CG says:

I really like the Jonathan Adler “&” cover in black and white.

  23. rissatoo says:

All of my e-things have basic black covers &/or sleeves, but I think it’s time to shake things up with whimsy and color. Maybe Hello Kitty? :p

  24. janflora says:

Happy Hanukkah! Thanks for this chance 🙂 I love the Jonathon Adler cover w/ the ampersand. Very snazzy 🙂

  25. Hmr28 says:

    Alice in wonderland cover!

  26. Elizabeth Houston says:

I would cover the nook in Indestructible. I have a bad habit of dropping/banging/sitting on/tripping and accidentally throwing/… my gadgets. Indestructible is a requirement. I must however proudly note that I have never (yet to) light anything on fire.
(The ‘yet to’ was added by the peanut gallery who is not nearly as funny as he thinks he is.)

  27. Laiab says:

Hot pink with neon green polka dots, and if I can’t find that I’d settle for a nice bright color to match the Glowlight.

  28. Kburns says:

I have a red roo case for my nook color 🙂

  29. janflora says:

Whoa weird, we must be on same wavelength today 🙂

  30. Sewicked says:

I would make a cover from an old, beloved t-shirt; one with an appropriately geeky logo.

  31. archaeogrrl says:

I’d probably get a really nice leather cover off of etsy, probably in brown.

  32. Julie says:

It’ll definitely be a cover from Oberon Design—I just can’t pick which one!

  33. Jane L says:

Naked for a while, then I’d like to try to make a cover out of an old, worn out, unreadable book. (Sacrilege I know, but they look so cool.)

  34. Jennifer Radcliff says:

I would get a simple one to protect it, color not important, but I would knit a sleeve to keep it in.

  35. Vantine says:

I would have to put a hard core case on it because my son would borrow it…

  36. Mims says:

I’m gonna go with naked Nook.

  37. Nancy says:

A cheap cover that works well. I do love the Oberon Design covers (so much!) but I can’t convince myself to spend that much on a cover. The last ereader cover I bought was $12 and it works great.

  38. Emma says:

I’d ask my friend nicely if he would knit one for me.
