Books On Sale

Four Susanna Kearsley Books for 99c,

Thanks to Julie for the heads up on this sale!

Sourcebooks has some daily deals through January 1, but the newsletter that is sent out never renders correctly in my inbox. I *think* this is today's deal, so I'm guessing that (a) these prices are today only (29 December) and (b) that they're available at most retailers. I know BN, Amazon, and Kobo are showing the .99c US price as of right now.

So: four Susanna Kearsley titles for .99c!

Susanna Kearsley - Mariana - 99cThe first time Julia Beckett saw Greywethers she was only five, but she knew that it was her house. And now that she’s at last become its owner, she suspects that she was drawn there for a reason.

As if Greywethers were a portal between worlds, she finds herself transported into seventeenth-century England, becoming Mariana, a young woman struggling against danger and treachery, and battling a forbidden love.

Each time Julia travels back, she becomes more enthralled with the past…until she realizes Mariana’s life is threatening to eclipse her own, and she must find a way to lay the past to rest or lose the chance for happiness in her own time.

The Winter Sea - Susanna KearsleyThis book was on sale last week, and now it's .99c US. (I don't know about international availability at that price. I'm sorry). It was a Sizzling Book Club Pick, and it is truly an amazing book. Time travel and paranormal usually don't work for me, and this book is a singular exception to my normal preferences. It's absorbing, beautiful, and made me tear up at the end. It's amazing – buy it for yourself or for someone who likes historical romance, mystery, or really, really powerful writing.

In the spring of 1708, an invading Jacobite fleet of French and Scottish soldiers nearly succeeded in landing the exiled James Stewart in Scotland to reclaim his crown. Now, Carrie McClelland hopes to turn that story into her next bestselling novel. Settling herself in the shadow of Slains Castle, she creates a heroine named for one of her own ancestors and starts to write.

But when she discovers her novel is more fact than fiction, Carrie wonders if she might be dealing with ancestral memory, making her the only living person who knows the truth-the ultimate betrayal-that happened all those years ago, and that knowledge comes very close to destroying her…

The Rose Garden - Susanna Kearsley “Whatever time we have,” he said, “it will be time enough.” Eva Ward returns to the only place she truly belongs, the old house on the Cornish coast, seeking happiness in memories of childhood summers. There she finds mysterious voices and hidden pathways that sweep her not only into the past, but also into the arms of a man who is not of her time.

But Eva must confront her own ghosts, as well as those of long ago. As she begins to question her place in the present, she comes to realize that she too must decide where she really belongs.

The Shadowy Horses - Susanna Kearsley Archaeologist Verity Grey has been drawn to the dark legends of the Scottish Borderlands in search of the truth buried in a rocky field by the sea. Her eccentric boss has spent his whole life searching for the resting place of the lost Ninth Roman Legion and is convinced he's finally found it—not because of any scientific evidence, but because a local boy has “seen” a Roman soldier walking in the fields, a ghostly sentinel who guards the bodies of his long-dead comrades.

Here on the windswept shores, Verity may find the answer to one of the great unsolved mysteries of our time. Or she may uncover secrets someone buried for a reason.

  1. Vicki says:

I discovered Susanna Kearsley through this site and really enjoy her books. I just finished Winter Sea and was wishing I had another one, though I was not ready to spend. However, at $0.99, I got the three I hadn’t read and expect that they will interfere with my plans for the weekend….

Thanks for the post about the sale.

  2. Judi Thoman says:

    Thanks, I got them all!

  3. larissa says:

Done! I’ve been wanting the horses book. She’s not my favorite, but there’s something I like about her books and have read most of the others. I was holding out on the horses.

  4. peggy h says:

Susanna Kearsley books are the rare books that I rejoice to see on sale, even if I bought all these at substantially higher prices than 0.99, just because it thrills me to think others will discover her!

  5. AWESOME. I had two of these in ebook form already, but not The Shadowy Horses (all time favorite Susanna Kearsley right there), or Mariana! 🙂

  6. Darlynne says:

Here’s a instance of books I wish I didn’t have already because I would buy them all at this price. I’m eager to see what else Sourcebooks will have over the next several days.

  7. Heh. I actually shouted, “Fuck yeah!” when I saw that The Shadowy Horses was one of the books on sale. I already own all the others, but I was waiting for the price to drop on Horses.

  8. Wow, thank you! I’ve been wanting to read Mariana for a while now, and no libraries in my network own it. Just bought it for my nook 🙂

  9. babydaddy says:

Aw they aren’t .99 in Canada. 🙁 Happy reading everyone else 🙂

  10. Julie says:

Thank YOU for motivating me to add her Kindle titles to eReaderIQ for price drops when I read a review of one of her titles here a while back! 🙂

  11. Liz H. says:

I’d never heard of ereaderiq before. Do you like it? Any complaints? Does anyone know of a similar site for B&N or any epub retailers?

  12. Bethy1017 says:

So excited—I read Winter Sea after grabbing it for 2.99 last week, and wanted The Shadowy Horses, but was hesitating at the 9.99 price… just grabbed it and Mariana for .99—yay!

  13. I’m reading The Winter Sea too, and while it’s still in the early going and I’m not a fan of the Doric brogue*, it’s holding my interest. Thanks for the heads up about this sale… I have loaded up! Can’t have too many 99 cent books on the Nook, I always say.

    * Strangely I can’t get enough of it when I am reading The Order of the Stick. Maybe that’s my aversion to more of it.

  14. persnickety says:

Just had a look (bearing in mind the comment about overseas pricing) and I can safely say it isn’t 99 cents- but it isn’t 9.99 either- they are all 6.99 for me.  Weird.
And good, because it isn’t quite enough of a sale to tempt me- I usually avoid time traveling and paranormal, so the price needs to be low.  my poor credit card will get a reprieve.

And the next time you manage to corner an editor to ask questions, can we find whoever it is that makes the pricing decisions, because that just puzzles me- if you are going to drop the price, why not go whole hog?  Or not bother?

And this is genuine curiousity- not bitching about the international price difference, but rather why re-issues of JD Robb categories from the 80’s are $9.99 or Mary Stewart reissues are $12.99.  Did they look at ebay and take the prices for used hardcopies as a guide?

  15. juliette says:

I clicked on the BN & Amazon links, and in every one it’s full price for these books.

  16. Cate Hulk says:

So glad I saw this post last night and bought these! I think I will start with Winter Sea.

  17. Teeloncar says:

I have read all four of these after being introduced to the author thanks to a glowing review here about The Winter Sea.  My stars… All are incredible reads but my favorites in order: the Rose Garden, the Winder Sea, Shadowy Horses and Mariana.  Curl up with some earl grey tea and enjoy.

  18. Sarah says:

Yes unfortunately these deals are one day only. This was good on 29 Dec.

  19. juliette says:

    Doh!  I’m bummed . . . :’ (

  20. GhengisMom says:

ARGH! How did I miss this?! I’ve been waiting for Shadowy Horses to go on sale!

  21. The Rose Garden is still 99 cents at Amazon!
