Books On Sale

Links, Sales, and Enochs. Lots and Lots of Enochs.

First up: I'm over at Kirkus today, talking about comfort reading, and what makes a comfort read for me:

Comfort reads are those books that are the reading equivalent of your favorite pajamas, the most fuzzy blanket, the familiar recipe, warm beverages, and everything that makes your body feel cared for and, well, comforted. Books that inspire that same feeling of being cared for are what I call comfort reads, and each reader's comfort read list is a little different.

I am all about comfort reads right now, and not just because it's cold out.

A few promotions and deals for you, too.

First: BooksOnBoard has a 40% code, good for unlimited use and unlimited eligible (read: not Agency) titles until midnight CST Sunday. Use code wishbone to get 40% off!

Vampire Castle: illustration of vampire with EXTREMELY ROUND BUTTOCKS If you have an iPhone (alas I do not) and use it as an alarm clock, I received an email about a new app that might make your day a little more silly and fun: the Hot Guy Alarm Clock.

Each alarm, or, as they call it, “wakeup experience, is like a miniature romance novel, with the iPhone owner as the main character:”

There are ten 'wakeup experiences,' some examples being “Vampire Castle,” “Chateau in France (but You're Spies),” and “Pirate King.” It is quite over-the-top and goofy.

This could either be hilarious or eyebrow raising, or both. If you have an iPhone and you download it, let me know what you think?

Which one of these do you recommend – and if you say all of them, my ereader is going to weep a lot. I've read some Enoch books and enjoyed them, but am not sure which ones of these to grab. If you're an Enoch Expert, which ones should we buy on sale?

  1. Lori Sherden says:

Enoch rec: England’s Perfect Hero. Without a doubt. It’s the ultimate perfection. I adore the hero and the heroine, while not perfect, is perfect for him. Beware, though. It’s book 3 in the trilogy (The Rake, London’s Perfect Scoundrel, EPH).

  3. Lindleepw says:

I agree. I was going to say I’m not an Enoch expert but England’s Perfect Hero is my favorite. I have the paperback and at these prices I’ll probably buy it again to have the ebook.

  4. Lindleepw says:

I will also say I really enjoyed The Rake. London’s Perfect Scoundrel was only okay in my opinion but it did have it’s moments. So I do recommend the entire trilogy.

  5. Lindleepw says:

I’m sorry! That should have been “its” not “it’s”! I try to catch those!!

  6. Tamara Hogan says:

I have to give Enoch’s contemporary romances a shout-out here…her Addison/Jellicoe series was, and remains, AWESOMESAUCE. My understanding is that her publisher wasn’t interested in continuing the series.

    Self-pub? Please?

  7. Krista says:

London’s Perfect Scoundrel by Suzanne Enoch – It’s not the greatest book ever, but it has lots of memorable scenes.

  8. Lisa J says:

Even better, if you buy the Enoch books at BoB they are even less expensive.  London’s Perfect Scoundrel and the rest of the series go for only $2.90 each.

  9. Jeana Dawn says:

England’s Perfect Hero is my favorite Enoch ever.  But it’s the third and the other two (The Rake & London’s Perfect Scoundrel are more than worth the read. Evie and Saint are two of my favorite characters.)

  10. Terrie says:

Feeling ignorant here but what is BoB?

  11. Terrie says:

Double duh—got it.  Books on Board.  Like Sarah mentioned . . .  ahem.

  12. ridiculousspider says:

Ooooo.  More books to download and read.  I will just pretend I don’t have a virtual stack of books to read as it is.  :]

  13. Tam B. says:

The Hot Guy Alarm clock is a cute idea and is a free app but I think most will skip it.

For me though, I’d rather have something along the lines of the men who voice my favourite books (eg: Phil G. as Barrons from Fever series) in character, giving me a wake up call.

Hmmm… should I be charging for that idea???

  14. Nancy says:

The Lessons in Love trilogy (The Rake #1, London’s Perfect Scoundrel #2, and England’s Perfect Hero #3) is my favorite romance series. The quality, writing and characterization are consistent. I reread all three regularly. But England’s Perfect Hero is one of my all-time favorites. The hero’s arc is so moving to follow and the heroine is well fleshed out with a convincing moral dilemma.

  15. Nancy says:

I should also mention that Always a Scoundrel by Suzanne Enoch is also $3.79. It too is very good and it too is the last book in a trilogy. But if you like rakes that actually act like rakes, then Always a Scoundrel is a good call (as is London’s Perfect Scoundrel). Always a Scoundrel is slightly darker than most of Enoch’s other options (in a good way).

Hey I love to read and just happened up on this site and enjoying the blog about this Enoch books…can I download it on my NooK???

  17. StarOpal says:

Here’s a demo on Youtube for the app:

Cabin guy reminds me of Old Spice Guy Isaiah.

Also on all the drawings: Dat ass!

  18. HJ says:

London’s Perfect Hero is wonderful, as many have said.  But I also love My Lady Rogue, which is stand-alone and is quite unlike SE’s usual books, in many ways.  I have re-read it several times – I love the inter-play between the hero and heroine, and it has one of my favourite tropes (woman disguised as a man).  I also agree with Tamara – I love the contemporary series and would love to see more of them.

  19. SB Sarah says:

I KNOW. The ass is like two giant gala apples were shoved in his pants.

  20. SB Sarah says:

You should be able to buy a Nook copy, yes!

  21. Lisa J says:

Booksonboard.com.  Sorry, I should have been clearer.

  22. Lisa J says:

I have those moments all the time.  No worries.  Have a great day!

  23. Karin says:

It seems almost unanimous, that England’s Perfect Hero is everyone’s favorite Enoch, including mine. But I also have to put a word in for Meet Me At Midnight, which is a keeper for me. Lots of fun and a very clever heroine.

  24. Fran says:

I enjoyed England’s Perfect Hero a lot, But I will always love Lady Rogue.  totally agree with HJ.

  25. Luckylewis24 says:

@Sarah are you in the US

  26. laj says:

I love Suzanne Enoch! Wish she would continue the Jellicoe series, it’s super!

  27. Nabpaw says:

I used to love Suzanne Enoch.  Can’t stand her now, but still like to reread lady Rogue and England’s Perfect Hero.
