Once Burned: Win a Firepit. No, Really.

Once Burned by Jeaniene Frost We have a silly crazy giveaway today to celebrate the upcoming release of Jeaniene Frost's Once Burned ( A | BN | K | S ). Because Once Burned features a heroine who can channel electricity, and a vampire hero who can control fire, we're giving away FIRE. Specifically, a fire pit!

Cue me saying, 'FIRE! FIRE!' Also “YES, I WANT S'MORES.”

Alas, no smores or fire for me, but s'mores and fire for you!

FIRE FIRE FIRE PIT!The Grand Prize is a 40″ fire pit with a copper fire bowl, a removable screen, and a mosaic tile rim. It's about 65 pounds, it's very pretty, and if you throw some wood in it, you can make s'mores.

S'mores are indeed included, too. The grand prize winner will also receive a gourmet s'mores kit from Recchiuti Confections that includes vanilla marshmallows, bittersweet chocolate and graham crackers.

And since you'll be stuffed from eating s'mores and keeping your feet warm, you can read books! Jeaniene Frost's backlist is part of the prize. The winner will also receive a copy of Once Burned, plus:

  • HALFWAY TO THE GRAVE
  • ONE FOOT IN THE GRAVE
  • AT GRAVE’S END
  • DESTINED FOR AN EARLY GRAVE
  • THIS SIDE OF THE GRAVE
  • ONE GRAVE AT A TIME
  • FIRST DROP OF CRIMSON
  • ETERNAL KISS OF DARKNESS

One lucky runner up will win Eternal Kiss of Darkness and First Drop of Crimson, and a Recchiuti s'mores kit.

What to enter? Craving s'mores (I so am, holy smoke)? All you have to do is leave a comment with your favorite thing to cook outside, whether it's on the grill, over an open fire, in the bug zapper or inside the hot engine of your car. The grand prize and the runner up will be chosen at random from the comments.

Standard disclaimers apply: Must be over 18 and wearing long pants to win. Void where prohibited. This giveaway is open to international residents, but please note: the firepit is only shippable within the contiguous US, so the firepit giveaway is open to US residents only. However, if a winner from outside the US is chosen, he or she is eligible for an American Express giftcard for an amount equal to the price of the firepit ($300US). I'm not being compensated for this giveaway by Avon or by the Federation of Awesome S'mores. I like s'mores. Any disclaimer issued by me is subject to silliness without notice.

So, let's get fire cooking! You've got 24 hours to tell me what you like to cook outside. Good luck!

Artichokes lightly drizzled with olive oil and seasoned with sea salt then charred on the grill. You have to steam them first otherwise they are a bit too tough. Nutty and smoky and a little sweet, holy moly are they good.

  2. M8888888 says:

Hot dogs! I’m a mostly-vegetarian, so this is perhaps a little weird, but I looooooove hot dogs. Mmmm, processed meat.
Thanks for the giveaway! Very creative prize!

  3. I love a grilled hot dog. Don’t tell me what meat makes up the dog!

  4. Amy P. says:

Favorite thing to cook on BBQ:  summer veggies drizzled in olive oil with a little cracke pepper.  YUMMY Best part is to sit outside and eat on a paper plate.  Just toss when done . . . no fuss. . .  no muss!

  5. Hydecat says:

My husband and I love to cook out. We do lots of things, but our favorite standby is bratwurst and bell peppers (yellow and orange peppers are especially delicious on the grill because it brings out their sweetness).

  6. azteclady says:

In an ideal world, I would make sopes, flautas and quesadillas outside (and now I’m hungry, despite being morning and hot as the ninth circle of hell down here in Florida)

  7. HappyPiranha says:

Mmm, love BBQ ribs.  But I accidentally discovered a new treat – toasted chocolate mousse Peeps.  The sugar coating carmelizes, so it’s a crunchy chocolaty toasted marshmallow.

  8. Tam B. says:

I live outside the US so whilst I’d love that fire pit for my house when I build it, I can’t have it.  I bought (today) the on sale Eternal Kiss of Darkness with bonus excerpt from Once Burned (only $1.99) just to read the excerpt.  Suddenly after all the waiting a week seems SO LONG away!

  9. azteclady says:

Let me try this again… sopes

  10. Nicky C says:

A meat kebab cooked over the fire would be delicious!

  11. hmr28 says:

FIRE! I cook everything outside but my favorite is sole with vegetables, lemon and wine wrapped in parchment paper. The paper crisps and blackens on the outside lending the fish a smokey lemony deliciousness.

  12. I’m a big ol’ fan of cooking kebabs on the fire. Other than that the standard grilled meats apply. 😛

  13. StarOpal says:

Has to be either corn on the cob or cream cheese stuffed jalapenos wrapped in bacon.

I may have to try CG’s artichokes, that sounds rather tasty.

  14. Sveta says:

I think I enjoy eating barbecue meat, in particular my sister’s hamburgers. I haven’t had a chance to cook outside yet

  15. Catherine says:

I prefer to turn the grill over to those who know better. My faves are my mom’s barbecue chicken kabobs and my friend Stew’s burgers. And … now I’m hungry …

  16. Rachie says:

I love baked bananas. Slice a banana still in its skin from end to end, shove chocolate and marshmallows in the slit, wrap in foil and put on the bbq. Yum 🙂

  17. Sarah Loch says:

My lovely husband has recently discovered a way to tenderize steaks that makes them super tender and taste AMAZING. It’s like the meat almost caramelizes, and there’s this slightly smoky flavor…and now I’m hungry. Time for breakfast!

  18. semg says:

Fire+grilled pizza+ beer = summer delight.  S’mores + long hair + crazy children = summer disaster and suddenly shorter hair.  Also delightful.

  19. Lauren D. says:

Grilled corn is my favorite summertime food, and the whole reason I bought a small patio grill last year!

  20. MelM says:

I have a friend who makes absolutely delicious pizza on the grill. Super-crispy and a touch smokey like the fancy brick oven place in town.

    MelodieM

  21. My favorite thing to cook outside actually is s’mores! I’m a s’mores fiend. I’m going to need to find a place where I can actually use the pit as a very small studio apartment with outdoor living space is a might unconducive to such use. I don’t care that unconducive is not really a word. It conveys what I mean. I need to stop rambling. S’moresssss.

  22. Ses822 says:

I like pretty much anything better when it comes from the grill. Griled pizza, hotdogs, and I am a certified S’more addict. I wanted a gas stove just so I could make them all year round regardless of the weather 😉

  23. Lori says:

I usually like to roast myself outside during summer. Being that I live in Seattle, I’m quite soggy throughout the year. So summer comes and it’s a chance to try and bake some of the wetness out and crisp up.

Best fire food ever: hot dogs. Yum.

  24. Marci Yesowitch Hopkins says:

My husband grilled pastrami wrapped asparagus this weekend. That was pretty awesome.  But I’m a conventional gal, hot dogs are still my favorite.

  25. Tamara says:

OMG, I love this giveaway! I must win! LOL. My favorite thing to cook outide is a tie between two things. One sweet, one savory. S’mores & Steaks!

  26. Lisa J says:

Swiss and mushroom stuffed hamburgers.  Serve them with some bleu cheese and little sour cream – AWESOME!

  27. Violet says:

My favorite thing to cook outside (other than s’mores)?  Potatoes, onions, and peppers in a foil packet on the grill.

  28. This is too good a giveaway to pass up! Hubby and kids adore smores (I’ll eat the graham crackers and chocolate).

Fire foods I love: slow-cooked baby back ribs, steak, and corn. Oh, and grilled is the ONLY way I will eat asparagus, too.

  29. DevonAnn says:

Asparagus fresh from the farm with a little olive oil and salt and pepper! If we’re talking meat – kielbasa is a grilling must for me!  Really cool giveaway!

  30. Flo_over says:

    Wieners.  On a stick.

Yes, I know they are made of chicken lips and assholes (Thank you, The Great Outdoors!).  I don’t care.  I love them.

    NOM NOM NOM!

  31. Jules says:

I adore s’mores but I enjoy a homemade beer dough pizza cooked on the grill, too.

  32. Ekaf1011 says:

I love s’mores, but they have to be done on a real wood fire, which is hard to do. And grilled bananas Are pretty good too!

  33. Sabrinad1977 says:

Smores or corn on the cob, or steak…

  34. Lillie says:

Bbq chicken is my favorite thing to cook outside but really I’m happy with a any of it because if it is cooked outside, that means my husband is cooking and not me!

  35. Anas Attic Sexy Tales and Toys says:

Other than s’mores? S’mores with peanut butter! When we go camping though, there is nothing better than breakfast made outside—pancakes, bacon, eggs. Yum.

  36. Christine R. says:

Sweet potatoes, sliced and grilled, with a little bit of olive oil and salt. Yum!

  37. Peaches, grilled on the grill then wrapped in foil with some sugar and cinnamon. Let them sit for a little bit to soften and then serve with ice cream.. Makes me sad that we got rid of our old grill when we bought the new house.

  38. Amitatuq says:

I’m all about hot dogs cooked over fire until they’re nice and burned!  No idea why they need to be somewhat blackened, but they’re delicious that way!  But just about everything tastes better when cooked over fire.  Especially vegetables.

  39. GHN says:

My brother is the true grillmaster in the family, and he grills a mean moose… XD Lovely, lightly charred on the outside, and tender and rosy on the inside. So as long as he has a hand in the seasoning and ritual charring of meat, that’s my favorite!

  40. Lynda H. says:

Vegetarian burgers and hot dogs. Love ‘em!
