    A gem!

  2. Keljo says:

My third grade teacher was a wonderful reader of My sided of the mountain and By the Great Horn Spoon.  I own those books today because of him.

Great video. If I am not mistaken, that was Levar Burton aka Geordi La Forge in that video. 🙂

  3. JoanneF says:

Yes, that’s LeVar Burton who has also been the longtime host of “Reading Rainbow” on PBS, which encourages kids to read.  When my kids were little, we loved that show.

As far as which books we loved to read, there were so many, it’s hard to remember.  But we especially loved books by P.D. Eastman, Richard Scarry, Dr. Seuss, and the Berenstains.

  4. Marc says:

The Paperbag Princess, Click Clack Moo and The Pigeon get lots of play at our house.

  5. Anony Miss says:

Apparently Levar Burton just launched a Reading Rainbow iPod app… I don’t have one, so I haven’t checked it out, but has anyone?

  6. SJ Meyer says:

Our Tree Named Steve, The Big Orange Splot, The Dot, and A is for Zebra.
For 10years+, I just read a WONDERFUL book with short chapters that is perfect for reading together (especially because it deals with lots of topics worthy of great conversation including kids who are different, bullying, kindness, death, growing up and friendship)- Wonder by R. J. Palacio

  7. Marja says:

My mom used to read me Anne of Green Gables -books and my 1-4 grade teacher read us books during our arts classes, especially Astrid Lindgren books, like Ronia, robber’s daughter. Every kid should have someone in their lives to read to them, to feed the passion for reading.
