So, what are you reading this week? Are you saving a book for the weekend? Still working on something you've been reading for awhile or is it New Book Time?
I had to stop myself from reading four or five books at a time – which is bad not only for my memory (“Wait, aren't there biker gangs in this Regency romance? Where'd they go?”) but also bad for my ability to remain interested in all of the books. Making a buffet of books is not a good thing for me, though I know some readers can do it easily!
So, what is on your reading agenda this weekend?
Twisted by Laura Griffin.
Finished “Undead and Undermined” by MaryJanice Davidson yesterday morning. For those of you who threw the last book against the wall determined to never darken her door again, she does redeem herself a little. In a way that cynical me thinks might have been a bit determined by the fallout of the last book. And of course, she sets up for the next book. But hey, Betsy’s always good for a quick, funny read. But you know, I wouldn’t pay hardback prices for a book of that length, I get her from the library.
Started in right after on “Worth Any Price” by Kleypas as I work up her backlist. Gotta love a hero in a historical who has studied Tantric sex, this one is beyond steamy.
I do tend to read more than one book at a time. I’ll have a book by the bedside for a little reading before lights out. I’ll have a book for taking with me to wait on my kiddos (usually paperback for weight, and not so steamy). I’ll have a book that’s not that much a page-turner. And I’ll have the book I started when the not-a-page-turner didn’t fit my mood, LOL.
Got Krentz’s Copper Beach, I think it is, from Audible. Great narrator. Enjoyable listen. Not to much to keep up with.
Then I went ahead and got Sarah Mayberry’s My Best Worst Mistake. Am enjoying it as well. I like all of Sarah’s stuff, though, so that is not surprising. It is short, but I am seeing a natural progression/maturation of the protags. Haven’t finished it yet as the real world has gotten in the way, but well worth the $2.99. Just need to decide if I want to read the companion Blaze. Just enough info about it in MBWM to think I might need to buy it. Since I rarely pay for a Kindle book, going with the freebies and library lending and what nots, this is a big step for me, two paid-for book in a weekend.
Dreaming by Jill Barnett, which I picked up on sale for my kindle. I can’t put it down! Very different than what I was expecting – it makes you laugh and cry. I am so glad I bought it when I had the chance – so good.
I wanted to add about the Mayberry My Best Worst Mistake that while the editing seems spot on, there are definitely proofing mistakes. “It’s” is used as the possessive in a number of spots. I don’t read with stickies or a read ink pen (especially on the Kindle), but I do remember noticing last night and then again today when I picked it up that a good proofing was needed. It doesn’t take you out of the story so much, but it is noticeable and a tad irritating.
Over the w/end finished Dead to Rights (Joanna Brady novel by J. A. Jance) and started the next in the series. Read Murder On Fifth Avenue by Victoria Thompson. Started 50 Shades Darker for the 2nd time. Bought and have in my TBR pile Nora’s Book 2 of the Boonsboro Inn trilogy, The Last Boyfriend. And then there’s the rest of the hundreds of books in my TBR pile …..
