Friday Videos Love the 80s (And Wine and Beer)

From Petra comes this very silly and marvelously costumed commercial from New Zealand. As Petra says, “This is the ad for DB breweries in New Zealand. Although it shamelessly encourages the stereotypical dumb male – it never fails to crack my shit up. “

Link!

Those are some of the most glorious 80s haircuts and fashions I've beheld in recent weeks – not that I see a lot of 80s fashion, though I did see a pair of stonewashed pleated jean shorts on someone in Times Square and I did a double-take. Next it's peg jeans and scrunchy socks, right?

I hope your weekend is filled with all your favorite beverages and potent potables, and, if you're into that kind of thing, majestic mullets, too!

That is some EPIC 80’s hair! I love the guy stirring his wine with his pinky and the dude at the very end, “yesssssss.”

  2. Carrie Gwaltney says:

ARGH! Why do people (designers ARE people, aren’t they?) insist on bring back not only out-of-date fashions, but the WORST of the out-of-date fashions? I’m still reeling from the last 5 years of seeing the worst of the 70’s revived, and now the 80’s? Gak! Parachute pants may be just around the corner! And mullets, and Farrah Faucet hair?  If anyone here is young enough that they don’t know the horror of 80’s fashions, I point you to all the 80’s music videos. :::shudder::: I hope you don’t have nightmares.

Don’t make me drag out the Rick roll…  http://www.yougotrickrolled.co…

As much as I want to get all indignant about the stereotype that women can’t appreciate beer and men can’t appreciate wine, I’m too busy giggling. And now I’m analyzing why I find this funny. I think it’s because the commercial knows it is being ridiculous and is intentionally parodying all of the other stupid misogynistic ones. I hope? Either way, this didn’t piss me off the way the Dr. Pepper 10 ads do, so I’m going to go ahead and laugh.

I’m never the first to discover anything; so surely you folks have seen this book on Amazon, Fifty Shades of Gravy? http://www.amazon.com/Fifty-Sh…

    It’s free right now, too!

  6. Kath Ronan says:

OMG!  I think I saw my ex-boyfriend from high school in that video. LMAO!

  7. Dee says:

I actually have seen people wearing parachute pants on purpose… and acid washed jeans… and fanny packs! ah! I keep saying that the people who are wearing these styles now weren’t around to see the horridness the first time around…
